Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

Assuming the powers that be don't manage to mess this one up as well, this should be one more reason to look forward to next season:

Romelu Lukaku believes he can become a legend at Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku wants to return to Chelsea in the summer and become a legend for the club.

The Belgium international striker is currently on loan at West Brom and has scored nine Premier League goals for the Baggies this season.

But the 19-year-old sees his long-term future at Stamford Bridge and believes there is still time for him to become a star with the Blues.

"Yeah, that is the dream. That's what I signed for Chelsea for," Lukaku told Sky Sports News.

"My aim is to play at the Bridge and to be a legend over there in the future.

"But the time is going so really I need to keep playing. And hopefully in the next few years become one of the key elements at the Bridge.

The signing of Demba Ba in January looks to have made Lukaku's task of earning a starting spot at Chelsea a trickier one but the powerful forward is undaunted by the competition.

"That's the thing when you play for Chelsea. They will always sign big players," he added.

"So now it is up to me to show I can go over there and play and do the same as he does now."

i reckon it depends who our new manager is. i also think because abramovich likes the 'flavour of the moment' he would probably splash out and considering all the negative talks about the employees just going with the flow of pleasing him, lukaku had better keep scoring to give himself a chance or he will end up like sturridge!

Really like the look of Lukaku and like what I have seen him doing at West Brom. Hope he turns out to be like the Drog.I fear the next manager will not give him the chance.

You could be right, I'm not so sure. The lack of strikers has been one of our major problems this season, and with Demba Ba now injured we could be left with the choice of Torres or Torres up front. And without wanting this to descend into yet another Torres-bashing thread, the thought doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

What I'm getting at here is that it must be apparent that we need to add to our strikeforce, and with Financial Fair Play to consider, in Lukaku we have a potential ready made solution, to add strength in depth at the very least.

Good on him. He's been incredible for West Brom this season, and that's coming from someone who had all but written him off last season (in my defence, he was constantly knackered and looked very out of his depth)

I genuinely think he could become another Drogba for us.

DIdn't we spend about 18m on him? If so I think that gives him a far better chance of getting a chance here, they've given all our other expensive strikers in the past, even if they were flops, a decent chance (or in some cases far too many chances).

He looks very gifted but he's still got some problems like being caught offside too often and making some poor decisions at times, both can be put down to inexperience.

That being said I think having him + Ba at the club would be an adequate strikeforce.

I have not seen Lukaku in action recently.

Here's what the Sparta Rotterdam coach Aad de Mos said about him.

"I am not a fan of Lukaku. He has speed and strength but he lacks the touch. His first touch is a disaster. I don't think he'll make it at Chelsea".

Yeah, but that was the book on Drogba for the first year he was here, and look how he turned out. I think Lukaku will be a very good striker for us for many years.

I remember reading when he joined that he was a Chelsea fan. I think Josh is too.

It'd be great to make use of the youth for this reason, you can guarantee they'll put in 100% for the shirt every time they play.

been watching him in matches for West Brom this season and he has been an absolute monster ! if he was given a run in this chelsea team i think we could well have had a few extra points on the board.

Yeah Lukaku's touch is one of his weak points but because of his age i think it will get better, i have already seen signs of improvement.

I still think Lukaku needs another season on loan after this one though.

Quite a damning opinion...maybe Juan Mata can help him with first touch issues.

Im surprised by these recent comments. Since he went out on loan he hasnt had a good word to say about us, maybe now he realises he has to come back next season and is trying to butter a few people up.

I personally dont think he will ever make it at Chelsea. He could be a good squad player for us but he doesnt want that so he will leave.

Every time he has been asked about Chelsea he has said he wants to come back and play for us, i can't think of a single bad thing he has said about the club.

There was that interview recently where he said he was enjoying his football at West Brom and wanted to stay there for another season. Or those comments in the summer when he said something about not appreciating the Champion's League win as much because of his non-involvement in the competition. I guess some people with a certain mentality could interpret those as digs at Chelsea. Personally, I think most of his comments in the press have indicated nothing more than a desire to play football matches.

He's still so young and raw, but he has done well at the Baggies this year and he looks a lot fitter and athletic.

I'd love to see him start next season after a full pre-season under his belt.

All fair comments in my opinion, of course he would want to spend another season at West Brom, he's improving as a player. And i can completely understand the comments about the Champions League, we basically wasted a year of his career last season. I'm like you, i think the only thing that should be read into those comments is that he wants to play regular first team football.

I am pretty sure with him being a Chelsea fan all he wants to do is be legend of the club.

Has looked pretty good for WBA this season and with Peter Odemwingie's recent antics I should imagine he is in line to start a fair few more games between now and the end of the season.

With the service that Mata, Oscar and Hazard could provide I think he could be a real good target man for us next season.

However if he were to have a second season on loan to a Premier League club it may help to continue his development into a more rounded forward.

No, we spent an initial 13 million on him

watched him back on 2009 for Anderlecht and i thought that is our replacement for Drogba then we bought him and i was over the moon, hope he comes to the Bridge and gets a chance because he is a beast, him and Ba up front would cause any defence in the world problems.

But we dont play with two up front and havent for years! Our team isnt set up for playing two up front. What makes you think we will start doing so just to fit Lukaku in?

Our team isn't really set up for anything at the moment. We have about 4 Number 10s, 2 wingers one of whom never gets a game. 1 striker and 1 ninja who manages to still invisible for most of the match. No quality defensive midfielders unless Luiz steps up to that position, and in which case then not enough centre backs (all of whom have been poor recently anyway).

It's great splashing the cash and signing all these players, but without a manager here for the long term the build a squad as he sees fit, the board just goes out and buys whoever they want and leaves us in the awkward position of having no balance to the squad. Too many players in one position and too few in another.

When/where did he say that?  I can't find reference to it anywhere.  I just like to check these things and new statistics I hear before they become accepted as gospel, ever since the BBC told me that domestic violence kills more women than anything else (they lied!).

Spot on.
