Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

can we just enjoy the fact that this boy is ours rather than whinge about why he isnt playing for us this year? regular games will help him develop even more, so next season we will have an even better version at the bridge banging them in

Well said.

Why? There is no point! He was sent out on loan because he needs to become a better player. Lets just hope he comes back the player that Jose wants him to be.

Lukaku will gain valuable experience and come back a more complete player.Sturridge is at Liverpool and doing well.We need to move on.

Is he though? hearing rumours that he is not training well, Rogers saying no training, not playing, now where have I heard that before?

i dont think Sturridge has the attitude to go all the way tbh. i always thought he had immense talent, but he just doesn't seem to have that inner fire that the likes of rooney/ronaldo/messi etc have that take them to the next level. i can see him turning up 10 minutes late for training, skinning a few players, banging a few goals in then walking off the training pitch happy with his days work, when gerrard/suarez are still out there working on weaknesses.

no doubting his talent, but how much will he improve? not much, i sense

Yeah I mean Sturridge shouldn't be satisfied scoring 20 goals in a calendar year in the EPL - should be more like Ronaldo aiming for 30.

Anyway I don't see how Rooney has lived up to his potential myself, he seemed a lot more exciting in his youth - no where near the levels of Messi and Ronaldo but those two were freakishly gifted and took their skills up a notch.

Sturridge should work on his free kicks if he takes all of L'pools freekicks and starts taking penalties he might reach the 30 milestone - maybe after Suarez is sold this will happen who knows. Anyhow he has 22 goals in the EPL in 2013 so he has a month to score 8 more

Not sure what Jose's playing at here, but he wants to be careful, Lukaku is the hottest young centre forward around and when he returns, he'll only have two years left on his deal.

Mind how you go Jose ..

Has Lukaku done something we don't know about? It would seem Jose is implying it..

If not then that's simply poor from Jose, that's twice now he's sent a couple of barbs Lukaku's way.

Not sure what he is trying to accomplish.

He's telling Lukaku to shut up and get on with it, I'm inclined to agree.

He's poking and prodding at him, Lukaku is still only a youngster...would it not be better to say something encouraging?

Lukaku has said, when asked if Jose's been in touch with him, that he hasn't heard from him for 2 months.

He probably has given him advice and encouragement but this isn't the first time Lukaku has spoken out whilst being on loan and to combat talking out in public Jose has retorted by doing the same.

I agree, I think Lukaku is great and hope he comes back to be our main striker but a simple "I'm at Everton, I don't want to speak about Chelsea right now" would be much better than what he usually does. Lukaku talks too much.

Some interesting quotes today in The Times:

Romelu Lukaku has branded his relationship with Chelsea “strange” and become embroiled in an unseemly stand-off with Jose Mourinho after they swapped swipes.

The striker, who is on a season-long loan from the Stamford Bridge club at Everton, claimed contact with the manager and his associates is sporadic despite an impressive run of form.

Lukaku also again underlined how pleased he is that he chose to spend time working with Roberto Martínez this season rather than fighting for a place at Chelsea.

“Chelsea are in touch with me – sometimes,” said the 20-year-old Belgian. “It is very strange at the moment. The last time I heard was a couple of months ago but I think they are watching my performances.”

On the decision to join Everton temporarily after spending last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, Lukaku told the BBC: “It was not the fact that I was not wanted. I think I was but I had to make a decision for me.

“Imagine I was playing for Chelsea now – I would play five games and score maybe one or two goals. Look now I am playing for Everton: eight games and seven goals [in the Premier League] – everybody in England is talking about me, my performances. I’m improving and having that consistency in my game.”

Where Lukaku’s future lies at the end of the season is up for discussion. He is already an accomplished goalscorer and has shown potential for further improvement.

He also cost Chelsea £18 million and signed a five-year contract when they bought him from Anderlecht two years ago.

However, repeatedly suggesting that Chelsea made a mistake in letting him go on loan and taking low-key shots at the club has clearly stretched the patience of José Mourinho, their manager, and could make life difficult for them should they need to work together.

“Romelu likes to speak,” Mourinho said. “He’s a young boy. But the only thing that he didn’t say is why he went to Everton on loan.

“My last contact with him was to tell him exactly that. ‘Why you never say why you are not here?’

“It’s something that he should say, because he likes to speak, the reason why he is not with Chelsea and he is in Everton.”

Jose needs to shut the f**k up. Get over your ego man! Yes Lukaku is somewhat at fault here with his talking but Jose needs to do this kind of stuff personally with Lukaku, not through the media. He is supposed to be doing things for the better of the team, not just to make himself and his choices look better.

Sounds like Jose's reaction was in direct response to that Times article. Lukaku could be the greatest player in Chelsea history, I really hope he shuts up and remembers he's still a boy and has lots to learn.

i dont think the issue is that lukaku did anything like misbehaving, more that he asked to go out on loan, rather than stay and be a squad player. maybe Jose was relying on him being an impact player, and couldnt guarantee him starts but still wanted him to stick around and fight for his place. im guesing that jose just feels like lukaku took the easy way out, or maybe just feels that lukaku didnt show the right mentality/team loyalty to stick around and fight like others have.

dont blame either one of them, you can see it from either point of view. jose wants the strongest squad possible, but big Rom wanted to be playing regularly

Lukaku's hold up play is not very good from what I've seen. I'm not saying our current trio are known for it specifically but Lukaku loses the ball in stupid places. I'm also not saying he wouldn't be a success here right now but if we want to play possession we can't have a striker who lacks that ability.

He also said himself he'd have probably 5 games under his belt and maybe one goal. He is young and he wants to play all the time. At Everton they have Jelavic in reserves, that's it. We have 3 international-level stars.

He might have 7 goals for us right now and Jose could be all wrong but he's made a decision and we need to live with it.

Lukaku needs to understand to be quiet and not talk to the press like this. Hurts him and the club.

Teams that play against Everton and WBA have a different set up than they would playing against CFC. both would have a different set up going forward; and he has no competition for his place to speak of.  Even if he started all games in the league he might have 2 goals given the way we are playing right now.  He should be thanking CFC for allowing him to go on loan to gain experience rather than slag us off because he thinks he is better than those internationals around him…..perhaps we have another Danny on our hands? I hope not.
