January 21, 201412 yr West Brom last season suited him because they played on the counter alot so there was space and also he came off the bench alot when the games were stretched, players were tired and he was fresh.Going out on loan to Everton was a good decision as he is now playing every game in a team who have alot of possession like us and has to play against compact defences and is getting less space.Very good practise ahead of him hopefully returning to us next season.
January 21, 201412 yr What does everyone think of his goal return this season for Everton? He obviously started very well but after a few games without a goal he's scored 9 goals in 19 appearance in the league. That's just short of the goal every two games that a lot of good strikers achieve so he's doing okay. Not sure how reliable the Who Scored website is with their stats but it says he also has 5 assists for the season as well. So in 19 appearances he's contributed to 14 goals, he's got to be worth retaining in our squad next season hasn't he? Surely, even if only initially, he is used as an impact sub coming on with 15 minutes to play he's going to cause defenses problems.
January 21, 201412 yr He's fizzled out quote a bit hasnt he? No goals in 10 games now... He had a few moments last night, but its obvious he isn't ready yet to be called upon every week.
January 21, 201412 yr He's doing fine, people are overreacting to his goal drought. If you aren't scoring then it's easy to lose focus and not make the same instinctive runs you would normally make, as far as I can see he's still making some good movements in and around the box but he's just been unlucky not to score. He's also getting involved in the build up play and creating chances for others instead of letting his head drop which a lot of players his age would do, so it's not like he's been completely useless. He does more for the team than scoring. Edited January 21, 201412 yr by Remodez
January 21, 201412 yr It's funny how a few months ago everyone thought he'd be better than Ballotelli. I honestly don't understand why people compare him to Drogba when they are such different players. Lukaku plays much more like Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

January 21, 201412 yr http://www.itv.com/sport/football/article/2014-01-21/everton-take-down-controversial-lukaku-interview/ Anyone else wish Lukaku'd just shut his mouth for once?
January 21, 201412 yr I'm starting to go off him recently. He is very mouthy. He needs to shut up and focus on his football if he wants to play for Chelsea.
January 21, 201412 yr Dear Lukaku, please shut up and keep playing football -feel free to stop a war or two like drogba - but stay clear of racist French comedians and their entourage of sportsmen supporters
January 21, 201412 yr I'm starting to go off him recently. He is very mouthy. He needs to shut up and focus on his football if he wants to play for Chelsea. Yep, seems very immature
January 22, 201412 yr For the record Eto'o himself has said he won't be here next season. It's just a one year stop gap. I expect to see lukaku and two new strikers but I suspect Torres may still be around
January 23, 201412 yr Being fair to Lukaku I saw the interview after they played West Brom, He was asked his opinion, and sort of put on the spot, we all know a terse "No comment" is the correct response, but he seemed to just blurt out an honest response. Obviously it pays to be dishonest when dealing with the media, and I'm sure the boy will learn from it...Kick it out have dropped him over it, as well by all accounts.
January 23, 201412 yr Dunno why they even asked him. What a stitch up by the very club he is playing for.
January 23, 201412 yr O ok Wonder if they ask everybody that these days or only someone too young to know to just not comment.
January 23, 201412 yr Well done for Lukaku (or his PR team at least) for publishing a clear statement today. This is copied and pasted from the BBC website "I want to make clear that I was supporting a friend and player I have admired since I was a child. "I apologise if I caused any offence with my comments as this was never my intention. There has been a misunderstanding and I want to clarify that I was in no way endorsing the gesture made by Nicolas. "I am proud to be a 'Next 20' ambassador for Kick It Out and will continue to inform young people of the harmful effects discrimination of any kind can have." Anyone can make a mistake but it takes a man to apologise... (take note Anelka) Edited January 23, 201412 yr by superdan
January 23, 201412 yr I read his original interview and honestly there was no inclination of anti-semitism or racism whatsoever in what he said. I don't think he really understood the undertones going on here and once again fell victim to naivety because he's mates with Anelka. I'd just not talk to the press at all if I were him, they're always looking to create a story. Not sure how many times they need to bite him before he learns that.
January 23, 201412 yr Footballers cant give any real world opinion on anything these days without someone trying to find something offensive in it. If they don't want to run the risk of an answer that they don't like, they shouldnt ask the question.
January 23, 201412 yr Anelka has far bigger mistakes to rectify than his decision to perform an unsavoury goal celebration. *Yes, that was a Moscow reference. **An illogical one, because he can't rectify it... ***Unless he somehow conspires to win Chelsea a European Cup whilst not playing for Chelsea... ****Which is impossible *****tl:dr = blame Anelka Edited January 23, 201412 yr by Charles Ryder
January 26, 201412 yr "Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is certain to sell Romelu Lukaku in the summer." - The Sun "Chelsea will sell Romelu Lukaku this summer to help fund a record move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani." - Sunday Mirror Discuss.
January 26, 201412 yr Yep, I've been expecting this to be picked up by the media for a while now. I think it's a stupid decision as was his loan - but obviously if it's to finance a move for a striker like Cavani I will somehow learn to live with it. If it's to finance a move for Josef Martinez than I'd be pissed off. Still I would read too much into media bollocks but at the same time I don't think Jose rates Lukaku Edited January 26, 201412 yr by Las7
