Lukaku to Everton

Featured Replies

Everything seems to be pointing to lukaku going, we've been rumoured to be selling him in a player plus cash deal (18m) for Roma cb benatia. If this happens and we struggle to score goals next season I think that mourinho should pack his bags and get the f*ck out.

Surely Mourinho won't be stupid enough to let Romelu go even on loan would be a disaster. As you say a lot of Chelsea fans will think he has the lost the plot if it happens but I very much doubt it.

So we all ignored the Everton fan who watched him week in and week out saying he might not be ready to lead the line for a top European club.

Alrighty then.

Define "everything".

The key phrase in your post is "we've been rumoured". We've been rumoured to be selling Lukaku to any number of clubs, both here and abroad.

Today we've been rumoured to be ready to sign Bony and Remy. Tomorrow who knows who they'll have us ready to sign, or sell come to that. Far too many people, it seems to me, are all too willing to go off the deep end based on something they've read in the media, the vast majority of which is nothing more than speculation. The phrase "no smoke without fire" does NOT apply where the media is concerned.

I also find it interesting that you're already prepared to launch an attack on Mourinho based on this "everything" that you have yet to define. A bit of patience wouldn't hurt, at least wait to see how the situation (not only with Lukaku) unfolds.

I'm pretty sure it's been posted before, but nevertheless it's a timely reminder of what Lukaku himself has to say, not a rumour, not speculation, but a direct quote:

“You know, I still have a two-year contract at the biggest club in England, because that's Chelsea. So I still hope to play there. Chelsea have a good coach”

While accepting that the above alone is no guarantee that he'll be wearing a Chelsea shirt next season, it's at least as good an indication, arguably far better, than the nebulous "everything" that in reality consists of nothing more than speculation.

If you don't buy into all these rumours go and put some coin on it, bookies are paying 4/1 for lukaku to be at chelsea next season. All I'm saying is that it looks likely lukaku is going and if he does it'll be another horrible decision.

And your basing your opinions on the "Everton fan". Anyway, Everton got 5th in the prem last season, it's hardly like he's coming from a minnow.

I'd listen to a guy who watches 90 minutes of Everton every week than the people who watched the highlights on MotD.

You say it like everton fans have inferior knowledge of football?

Anyway, even if he isn't quite ready it still doesn't warrant selling him, costa would be our number 1, lukaku would be our number 2, he's certainly good enough for that role. Let's not forget, he's just turned 21!! He's amazing for his age, he will be one of the best in a couple of years.

And then you factor in Lukaku seemingly unwilling to play a number 2 role and wanting to be number 1 and you see why the media are forever linking him to a move away.

It's a lot more complex than you are making it out to be.

We own Lukaku if we say he is number 2 he will be number two he shared the striking role between Benzema and Higuain cant see why we can't do a similar thing here. We keep hearing how great Jose's man manmanagament is so it should be easy to get him onside.

Don't forget it is his dream to be a regular for Chelsea. Also what message does this send out to other young players on loan if Lukaku can't get a game the rest might as well give up. If we just see them as assets to be moved around it will not inspire loyalty, well as much as there can be in football.

but now I see him wanting to sell lukaku, arguably the worlds most promising young striker, when we are crying out for strikers!!

I presume Jose Mourinho told you he wants to sell Lukaku ofver a nice cup of tea last week?

I know 3 Everton fans, 2 of whom are season ticket holders. They both said they arent too bothered if they get him next season, with all 3 basically saying the same thing, he`s a superb player but just doesnt involve himself in the game enough, his back to goal hold up play leaves a lot to be desired as does his first touch.

Only has 2 years left on his contract. We certainly have a decision to make. Either sell him this summer or play him and give a new contract.

15 goals and 6 assists in 29 BPL starts in a completely new system and team.  Lukaku, in his first two BPL seasons, has scored more goals than Wayne Rooney did in his first two BPL seasons. Lukaku has certainly been a goal machine compared to how Drogba started with us, at a much younger age too.

Wolfsburg general manager Klaus Allofs says his club are prepared to explore the possibility of acquiring Romelu Lukaku.

The highly-rated striker remains tied to a long-term contract at Chelsea, but has spent the past two seasons out on loan.

He has caught the eye in the Premier League at West Bromwich Albion and Everton and will be hoping to do the same at this summer's World Cup finals with Belgium.

Once his participation in that tournament is over, attention will turn to matters regarding his future.

With Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho openly admitting to being in the market for new attacking talent, another loan switch for Lukaku has been mooted.

Numerous clubs are expected to express an interest if the transfer door is opened, and Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg admit they will be among them.

Allofs told Wolfsburger Nachrichten: "We are to sign a striker this summer and we have to wait and see which deal will be feasible in the end."

Asked specifically about interest in Lukaku, he added: "Of course, but we also have other names in mind."

Thats one guy opinion doesn't mean its right. An Everton fan once posted on here saying that Fellaini was the best DM in the league. Not many people are saying he should lead the line most are saying he should be in our first team squad next season.

Well this guys post was articulate and well thought out so he seemed like he'd know what he was talking about. Didn't sound like the ramblings of a man who would call Fellaini best in the league.

...we should hear him out about average players like Barkley, Deulofeu and Baines :-)

If you want my advice, don';t be taken in by bookies odds either. What I can do is give you an example of how the media work. Sky are currently running a story with the following headline:

Transfer news: Wolfsburg among those keen on signing Romelu Lukaku

Reading the above headline, you might think that Wolfsburg were considering the possibility of putting in a bid. At the very least you'd expect them to have expresed a positive interest in signing Lukaku. Right? Wrong. Taking aside all the journalistic waffle what you're left is this quote from Klaus Allofs, general manager of Wolfsburg:

"We are to sign a striker this summer and we have to wait and see which deal will be feasible in the end."

And then, when asked specifically about interest in Lukaku, he added: "Of course, but we also have other names in mind."

So there you have it, a banner headline based on a non-story with the most tenuous of links. Wolfsburg are not chasing Lukaku, but might well be interested if he were available. And the same goes for any number of clubs.

And that, is the sum-total of this "everything" that points at Lukaku leaving in the summer. This could of course change, who knows what might happen over the next couple of months.

But please, let's have no more speculation presented as fact.

I presume Jose Mourinho told you he wants to sell Lukaku ofver a nice cup of tea last week?

I know 3 Everton fans, 2 of whom are season ticket holders. That's simply proof that the majority of match goers don't have a clue about what makes a good player.

I've watched Romelu all season in the flesh, as i'm also an Everton season ticket holder, and i'd be absolutely elated if we signed him.

We're talking about a player who over the last two years of the Premier League has only been out scored by two other strikers, that's despite being dropped into two different teams with extremely different playing styles and only turning 21 at the end of the second of those two years.

I know a lot of Evertonians who say he's lazy, clearly failing to understand the difference between laziness and conserving your energy. When we are in possession he constantly looks for the early ball, makes runs and indicates his willingness to take the attack forward, it's our lack of creativity in midfield which often lets him down, not the other way around.

I remember reading something a while back about Martinez not wanting his strikers to chase every lost cause, he'd rather they conserve their energy for attacks which actually pose a danger to the opposition goal, and i couldn't agree more. That's even more important when you're a man mountain like Lukaku is. It simply takes far more effort to cover the whole pitch like a player such as Naismith does when you're not far off twice his size.

Lukaku has a tremendous amount of ability for a player so young, which is reflected in his goal tally. It's true that his first touch lets him down, but i'd argue that it's as much to do with his eagerness to impress and smash the ball in the net as soon as he touches it as it is an inherent lack of footballing ability. I firmly believe that as he continues to mature this will improve. (His control leading up to the great goal he scored last night against Sweden hardly reflects a player with a lack of footballing ability).

Personally i think Lukaku will be somewhere other than Chelsea next season, and i'd be massively surprised if it was Everton. His dedication to the game and becoming the best he can be is unquestionable, and with that is his desire to be the number one for whichever team he's playing for. I don't think he'll get that at Chelsea, if he wasn't going to get enough minutes ahead of Eto'o, Ba, and Torres then he certainly won't get the number one spot ahead of Diego Costa.

having watched Belgium in those 2 friendlies I wouldn't be at all surprised if the stars of the world cup are Hazard and Lukaku; we'd be mad to make any decision about Lukaku's future until we see how he performs there

But the goals keep rolling in........

Coffee actually, Portuguese don't drink tea!! Haha. Anyway, anyone that under rates lukaku will be eating there words, he's the real deal. If Jose sells him it will prove to be a mistake. And all this rubbish of how he won't play as number 2, even if that's true, put him in and you'll be damn sure that he'll fight for game time, and who knows he might take that number 1 spot.

Is it too late for me to suggest that Jack packs his bags and goes for suggesting we get rid of the best manager in the world if we sold a young striker that still has a lot to prove before he can claim a spot in our first team?
