Looks like Abramovich is having a change of heart and understanding that you need to keep guys like Cole and Lampard around in order to bring these young kids along.

United have the right formula... nothing wrong with copying it.

If it is true then we probably owe Roy Hodgson a big thank you for telling Frank not to go to America as it would put his England career at stake. I share the same opinion as Graeme Le Saux on this one especially now we know the outcome on Ashley's negotiations.

ive said it before , but we need to nail him down get him to do his badges , and integrate him into our coaching staff , he's an intelligent footballer and that makes him pretty much unique

Without doubt this should be the case. If frank does stay and he don't perform next year I'd be so pissed off if people get on he's back

They say things come in threes. Well, we've had Ashley Cole staying, we've (hopefully) had Lamps staying. Now what could the club announce to make it a joyous hattrick?

That John Terry is fully fit and good for another 2 or 3 seasons.

Not only does he deserve a new contract but a bloody good apology to go with it.

Sadly I am not believing this until I see something concrete, the only way for the media to keep this story fresh is to add a twist, 'Lamps on the way out' is a very old headline and without any actual evidence to support the story a large part of me fears this is just press BS.

The club havent changed their position, they havent commented on it yet so why would they now, its cleverly written in the piece though to make it sound like its new.

Hope I am wrong though...very very very much so.

Apology?

Why would he deserve an apology? He's a servant of the club, not the other way around.

I love Lampard and want him to stay on for another a season, but he wanted more than that. You don't see Alex Ferguson and Man U handing out contracts out of sentiment, Giggs and Scholes have had to earn their contract renewals each year and Keane and van Nistelrooy both got the boot.

I think Lampard is doing really well at the moment but I have grave doubts over whether he can sustain that level over and beyond another season. No matter how much he has done for the club, he is not "owed" another contract- no player is. The player owes the club and the fans, we pay his handsome wages, never the other way around.

So, Sydney, no allowance for loyalty at all, then?

It's a sad world that this has become.

The youngsters have no heart, Kev!  they cast old has-beens onto the dung heap without a pang of remorse.   :connie_oldman_cleanglasses:

Seems everyone has forgotten the summer of '08 when he was publicly flirting with Inter. The only loyalty I can see in the horizon is the £1.5m bonus he is due at the eye of the season. Dont get me wrong he has been a great and achieved a lot with the club, I just wonder if in a parallel universe this season hadn't been a disaster, we didn't have a misfiring forward and he had contributed 2 goals the fans would feel the same about his contract. We all seem to be missing the point that despite his 8 goals in 12 games, we are leaking goals and he lacks the tactical discipline to play the sitting role.

Well, this is awkward!

The Shed End Forum relies on revenue to pay for hosting and upgrades. While we try to keep adverts as unobtrusive as possible without pop ups, we need to run ad's to make sure we can stay online and continue to keep the forum up, as over the years costs have become very high.

Could you please allow adverts on this domain by switching it off. Some of the advert banners can actually be closed to avoid interferance of your experience on The Shed End.

Cheers now!
