September 6, 20169 yr Although obviously I'd want Conte to have it, fairness would say Pep (even though the margin is so tiny). Both new managers to the league and both off to a perfect start. Why does Jose deserve it? Makes no sense to me, United haven't done better than City.
September 6, 20169 yr The awards havent even been announced yet, Hazard and Mourinho won the twitter polls, but the Premier League Panel and Premier League Captains still need to vote i think it get announced on Friday.

Even Pep is in a new league and is having to adapt to it. With Jose it is a league he knows well and it has been easier for him to hit the ground running as opposed to the other three. Great counter argument here.
September 6, 20169 yr Look at the amount of money chucked at the Utd squad and the strength of City's. Look at the Chelsea team in comparison and how utterly abysmal they looked last season. It's the same team with 1 new starter, but looks completely different. That same horror show of a defence, that same Hazard who couldn't seem to get out of gear one and two. That same Costa who we thought had become Torres no.2, that same Matic who had become invisible off the ball and horribly apparent when on it. You could say two of the wins the team scraped to, but the winner's mentality and determination is what saw them through (as well as some good tinkering by Conte). Conte has everyone hungry and alive again with 3 wins out of 3. I'd say even without Chelsea glasses on, Conte is above Mourinho and Guardiola in worthiness.
September 7, 20169 yr United also had a piss easy list of fixtures, both us and City have gotten the same record against (slightly) more difficult opposition, but I agree the fact Hull have a single point let alone 6, and almost had 7, is phe(la)nomenal.

Well I'd say pep edges it, jose should be the last one considered among those 4.. City pretty much line up with 2-3-2-3 like this --------- Stones --- Otamendi --------- Zabaleta ----- Fernandinho -------- Clichy --------- KDB --------------- Silva -------- Sterling ------- Aguero ---------- Nolito sometimes the personnel would be slightly different but the shape remains the same.. It's a bold line up that , the conservative one would probably pouring cold water on that idea at the very first opportunity but here they are, top of the league with the best goal difference.. When a manager successfully promoting attacking possession display while keeping tight at the back and getting full results, that's when the accolade should be given.. And also, as much as I like to hazard, reckon sterling having more impact based on the last 3 PL outings..

Thing is with the manager of the month award, do we give it based on results solely or should other factors come into play. The more I think about this month's award the more I think Phelan should be considered the best manager this month. Their results are impressive, especially when you look at how thin their squad depth was for the month of August. Regarding Sterling, he really has looked the part under Pep, I have to agree. He really has been impressive during August. Still for myself, biased as I am I think Hazard should get the award. Personally I was surprised that Zlatan wasn't included in the nominees. Saying that though maybe Michy should have too, considering his contributions off the bench...(that's a joke, partially). Edited September 8, 20169 yr by MissouriBlue
September 9, 20169 yr So Hazard still hasnt won a player of the month award, with Sterling named August POTM and Phelan Manager of the month.

September 11, 20169 yr If Oscar out in a performance like Hazard did today he'd get crucified. Really disappointing from him after such a bright start to the season.
September 11, 20169 yr He had some good moments but he was slipping, having poor touches in crucial moments and miskicking the ball all over the place, he should've been subbed instead of Willian. Not to mention he pulled out of the chance with the onrushing keeper.

I don't think Hazard was that bad today though, i don't think anybody had a bad game. The only thing about Hazard that really annoyed me was when he bottled a challenge with the goalkeeper when we could have won the game. He made a few mistakes towards the end of the game but i think that was because he was starting to get tired. Edited September 11, 20169 yr by Scott Harris

I ask as I only seen it the once and thought he miss kicked the ball and hit air? If he did bottle it that's unforgivable.

In real time it looked like he bottled it but on the replay you can see its just a poor airshot from Hazard. Edited September 12, 20169 yr by RIP Mourinho
September 16, 20169 yr Don't know what was up with him tonight, he was anonymous for pretty much the whole game.
September 16, 20169 yr Agreed but to be fair he was isolated on the left wing, play him as a number 10 and we would get a much better Hazard.

He's not a 1 man army and the rest of the midfield don't know how to link up with him if their lives depended on it bar Fabregas. We've seen it loads of times, he gets double or triple marked as defenders know not to worry about the others.

Now that i think about it, he didn't actually have much space today, all of the space was gifted to our right hand side, Liverpool knew there was little threat from that side.
