So far this season Coutinho has been brilliant for the dippers and for overall contribution probably on near enough par with Eden. Hazard however is a step up from him and I think we'll see that come May.

To be fair he's been superb this season as has Eden.

I think it's normal for fans of a club to big up their best player and to make it out they are the top one in the league. We do it ourselves too.

It will be interesting who comes out on top over the course of the season. Coutinho has never been able to keep his form up for the entire season whereas Eden has done it before. My money would be on our man but who knows what will happen.

I think what is or was stopping him from stepping up to the Messi level. is what is between his ears, because he could be an alround better, maybe not as jet heeled, but certainly two footed, and easily as tricky, go Eden show em all......

The sky is the limit.He has it all and now the manager to take him to the very top.

It could be that, or it could be fact that when it got a bit tough last year Hazard downed tools and was happy to sacrifice his team results.

But it does comfort the "Mourinho can do NO wrong" brigade.

 

There is brigades for both, anti Mourinho and pro Mourinho when actually the truth to many things falls somewhere in the middle. I myself fall in this category as do many others.

He's just 25, he still have more years to chase those two.

Looking at his form this season, it seems clear injuries/drop in confidence (most likely due to the atmosphere around the team/Mourinho) affected his play.

 

Under Conte he's looking great and long may it continue. Reminds me of Kaka with his close control and fantastic pace.

The fact is though that the players also weren't doing enough. It's not all on one side it was as a group; players, board and manager that we were so bad last season.

Yes everyone was doing bad not just one player but the downing tools came from a Chelsea hating media which for the life of me I can't understand how some fans listen and gobble it up. From the first league match against Swansea something was off and we can all speculate but no one outside the club knows one thing we can say that's same players In a different atmosphere are now the form team in Europe

Of course downing tools was a media headline but I don't think we can excuse players that weren't playing well last season because they are now. We saw it with our greatest side, they'd perform well for a manager then suddenly they wouldn't. I'm not saying it's never the manager but people are too willing to let players off.

I have a hard time believing proffesional sportsman would deliberately play poorly, which is effectively match fixing. 

Did all the players get together and decide to play poorly and get the manager sacked? 

I just cant see that being the case. 

In all likelihood a culmination of behind the scenes problems, caused a breakdown of trust between players and management, which effected results on the pitch, and loss in confidence was a snowballing effect. 

I find it also strange how hazard is the one who is labelled as the main player that 'downed tools' when he was nowhere as bad as costa during that run, and he also didn't result to publicly undermining mourinho, as costa did when he threw the bib at mourinho for dropping him.

People like to have someone to blame when things go wrong, but when so few facts are available, how can anyone be feel so strongly against a player, or mourinho.

A desperation to find excuse for their darling manager which I believe exceed their love for the club itself, at least at that time it felt that way..
