Talks have collapsed according to a number of papers. Marina drives a hard bargain. I assume this will mean we'll see the cycle of transfer request/not turn up for pre-season again for the second season in a row.

We haven't got a lot of leverage here but glad we're not backing down.

I don't see Hazard doing that.  He obviously won't sign a new deal, but I think he'd show up and play, and then just sign for RM on a free next summer.  Free transfer aside, I'm sure RM would still be glad to get him at age 29 - especially since he doesn't rely solely on physical gifts.  Sure, his burst and acceleration is something to behold, but his technical ability will keep him playing at a high level well into his 30s.

No, no you're wrong.

(Sticks fingers in ears, shuts eyes and starts humming an inane tune like a truly demented individual).

If it's going to happen I think I would prefer the move to happen early.

A protracted transfer saga is the last thing we need on top of the transfer ban and (probably) another managerial change.

Like taking off a plaster, get it over with... dragging it out only makes it more painful.

His move to Real Madrid could be announced today apparently.

Maybe it's for the best, he knows where he wants to be and we know who we can count on. I can't imagine how crazy it would be in case we end up in the same CL group.

A drawn out Hazard transfer saga combined with an unknown manager situation is worst case scenario for sure.

But if I had to choose one getting sorted before the other, I'd want our manager to be installed first and not have to worry about that.

Personally I think it would be great if an impasse is reached and he stays for another season, he's not the kind of man to go on 'strike' so we'd get to see him light up the place for another year. 115 mill quid (the line in the sand) is pocket change to Roman, ironically that's why I think he's holding out for it in this case.

100m, like its stated before me, a done deal today.

Euro's. Which is back to the £88m we started on.

Considering he has 1 year left on his contract, its actually not bad But I'd have still wanted a lot more tbh

Id rather the transfer deal go through ASAP tbh. Imagine having him for one extra year just for him to leave on a free next year? Would be a nightmare by all accounts, just for a extra few million

Agreed.  The constant speculation over him leaving at the end of his contract will be a huge distraction that we simply don't need.

They certainly seem to be acting decisively in this market.....

88m is sh*te. I bet levy doesn’t let Erikson go for that. We are extremely generous to those who leave us.

Considering champs league is worth 50m,  think I’d risk him going on a free.

Now watch us go and give half of it back for bloody no goals Kovacic.

We really are in a pickle this summer

Should be 88mill PLUS Kova. Otherwise Marina has failed imo.

88m with 1 year left on the contract isn't exactly awful though. I think if it was 2 years or more, it would have easily have been 120m or probably even higher.

Hopefully we have some sort of deal in place to at least get something more in return and not just 88m, because we can't even do anything with the money when we are banned

In todays market for a player of Hazard's unbelievable talent to money bags Madrid it is. It basically means we did not get a penny more out of them from their first offer by the sounds of it. He may not yet be as good as Ronaldo or Messi yet but no other player is at his or their levels.

Typical Real.  Turn a player's head so they agitate for a move on their end driving the price down and forcing a club to accept a lower fee.  Taking advantage of the fact that every player seems to feel that playimg for Real Madrid is "a dream"...….Pogba is next.

I for one, am happy we are holding our ground.  No one gives in when we come calling for a player or a manager.  In fact, when we inquire about someone, the price seems to go up.

I do agree, but would you rather not selling Hazard now and then he leaves for FREE in a years time?

Id rather take the 88m, even though it is bad for this current market
