October 1, 201510 yr The chap either needs to be moved into the middle or rested. Leaving him exposed on the right in every game is madness.

October 2, 201510 yr If he is going to play him, he needs help in front of him, maybe a couple of buses ?
October 2, 201510 yr I feel like crying. So Baba was Dave's backup all along. Figured that out once he made the statement about "competition" when we signed him. £21m for a backup fullback!? It's a bit ridiculous. No chance he ever plays Azpi & Rahman in the league or CL seeing they are both 5'10'' because Jose likes 3 tall guys in defence, so we are stuck with Ivanovic in the 1st 11 till Jan at least.

Can't wrap my head around it personally.
October 2, 201510 yr Well I suppose that's that in terms of winning things this season. Continue with Ivan like Jose seems determined to do and we will get battered by the top clubs. It's a huge disappointment tbh
October 2, 201510 yr £38m spent on left backs in two years and we're still playing a right back full there. Can't wrap my head around it personally. Makes about as much sense as all the wingers Mourinho has signed and sold.
October 2, 201510 yr I love Ivan, but if Jose does persist with him, which he will, then that just proves that he was talking rubbish when mentioning untouchables, I'm sorry but he is full of cr*p at times.
October 2, 201510 yr Mourinho claiming that Ivanovic is his best right back sums up what level headed fans have suspected all along - showing blatant favouritism regardless of form. I wonder how Baba Rahman feels about this unfair situation. A right back should be the top priority for next summer"s transfer purchases but if Mourinho is still around then, it won't happen as he will get the club to award Ivanovic a new 3 year contract.
October 2, 201510 yr Playing Ivanovic is all about not playing Baba Rahman. Seems Jose doesn't rate him. Not in the slightest. Chalk another success to our scouts.
October 2, 201510 yr Expect the Saints to come pouring down our right side tomorrow, poor Ivan, I love him but this is just getting ludicrous.
October 2, 201510 yr Playing Ivanovic is all about not playing Baba Rahman. Seems Jose doesn't rate him. Not in the slightest. Chalk another success to our scouts. you would think our scouts and Jose would talk to each before making a buy.I can't believe José doesn't have any input into the transfer policy. If he hasn't, then it needs to change, buying players that José doesn't rate is just unprofessional and a waste of time and money
October 2, 201510 yr I think play Ivan in he's natural position of centre back for a game or two give him the chance to get he's confidence back. He's lost
October 3, 201510 yr He is in piss poor form, but people making him the weak link.He probably is but if 10 players performs and one doesn't the result come your way.It is not the case however is it? He has been a good servant for the club brought us joy with his goals and performances,he isn't sh*t all the sudden just in poor poor form.
October 3, 201510 yr As horrendous as he's been, and as clear as day as it is that he should be dropped, he's certainly being the scapegoat of the whole situation. I can only name a handful of players who deserve to be playing at the moment: Begovic, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Willian. Everyone else should be ashamed of themselves.
October 3, 201510 yr It's not so much about Ivanovic as a player. It's more about how a manager rewards good performances and "punishes" or improves bad performances. Clearly you would approach every player individually. But there has to be some kind of a norm which makes it very clear to all the other players what is expected from them and what kind of consequences can they expect. I feel that Ivanovic can do whatever he wants and won't have to fear any negative consequences. If I was a player in a team I would not like that. Edited October 3, 201510 yr by Uxanga
October 3, 201510 yr Hate to kick the man while he's down but this is just hilarious http://zippy.gfycat.com/EasygoingSlimFrilledlizard.webm Edited October 3, 201510 yr by Theafonis
October 3, 201510 yr He has been class for us for most of his time here and I like to see a manager keep faith with a player if they hit a poor run of form but what we're seeing at the moment is so much more than that. Branna has cost us a lot of goals, second half of last season and the start of this, last season he got away with it because the team as a whole was much more solid. Now his mistakes are not so readily covered. We need to get some confidence back into the team and that's not going to happen when teammates are weary that everytime the oppo attacks your right back they're going to get a chance. Add to that the message it sends throughout the club; Babba has come in for £20m off the back of a cracking season in Germany and he can't get a look in, yet he can see the defence being ripped to shreds constantly. I'd want out already if I were him. The youngsters like Loftus-cheek, gets a game plays really well and is then not seen again. Did Jose hope that he'd play sh*t if he gave him a chance? The defensive problems are not all down to Branna but he's certainly making it much worse.

The defensive problems are not all down to Branna but he's certainly making it much worse. It's also slowly destroying his legacy with the club. He's been a great player for us and he needs to be dropped for his own sake as much as the teams.
October 4, 201510 yr Great servant to the club but he sadly looks shot right now and is getting easily exposed. Problem is the opposition have targeted him as a weak link as they know they can take him on. We're effectively giving the opposition a means to get at us and it gives them a lift. Am surprised Jose is being so lenient. I know it's different when you're manager and you have a personal relationship with certain players we don't have as fans. But this isn't about that anymore. It's about the fact were leaking goals and the player is struggling and his confidence is gone. Trying to play him back into form is costing us and it doesn't seem to be working either.
October 4, 201510 yr If your girlfriend gives you as many chances as Jose gives Ivanovic, you should marry her right away. On a serious note, the man is a loyal servant to the club and our dip in form isn't entirely his fault. However, he is currently one of the most underperforming players in our squad and like others, I do believe he (and a few others) has to be dropped for a few games to let the rest have a chance to play. At least we can better assess the lineup selection by having guys like Baba or even Aina try out in the first XI before reevaluating the necessity of playing Ivanovic as a RB. He is a CB, never a RB. I once said this in another thread, we are already not performing with the current lineup, we might as well take the risk to try out something different.
October 4, 201510 yr I think play Ivan in he's natural position of centre back for a game or two give him the chance to get he's confidence back. He's lostIf he never played right back again I'd have no problem with that.got caught upfield again on a few occasions but this is nothing new.he's just as stubborn as mourinho in my opinion.he needs to modify his game instead of trying to play the hero bombing forward as often as he can.I actually think that he thinks he's good at it.
