January 16, 201610 yr Dave to Right Back. A good Left Back. Play Ivan at Centre Back with Zouma when JT retires. Zouma is carrying him enough as it is
January 17, 201610 yr Roman Abramovich has personally assured Branislav Ivanovic he has a future at Chelsea Despite talk that a deal was already agreed, defender Ivanovic was given the offer of a one-year contract extension in writing only this week after a chat with owner Abramovich. http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2016/1/17/10782010/chelsea-contract-extension-for-branislav-ivanovic-abramovich
January 17, 201610 yr We are fools The mans a liability now, he's one of the worst right backs around. A legend but his time is up
January 17, 201610 yr zouma went out of position to clean the mess he made, but instead he yelled at him. pathetic.
January 17, 201610 yr We let Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard go and they were nowhere near as finished as Ivanovic has looked this season.
January 17, 201610 yr Been one of the most powerful faces behind the scenes for along time. As long as Abramovich is here, Ivanovic will be.
January 17, 201610 yr Been one of the most powerful faces behind the scenes for along time. As long as Abramovich is here, Ivanovic will be. Must be some sort of Eastern Euro connection between them.
January 17, 201610 yr The deeper problem is as soon as he has a few decent games, the manager just stick him there every game without a second thought. Unless he's injured or suspended, Hiddink won't drop him just as his predecessors. Players need to be challenged, right now there aren't anyone could challenge him according to the manager. I seriously doubt our bench or youth players could have done much worse than him.
January 18, 201610 yr Ball watching from Ivanovic Anyone else think that Zouma was just as much at fault here? He obviously had a much better overall game than Ivanovic, but both were really absent-minded for their third.

Agreed that he did mess up, but Ivanovic being behind him should either see his error and go for the ball or scream at Zouma to go for it himself. I think we'd all expect more from a 30+year old vice captain than a promising but raw 21 year old whose only really had 1 full season of top quality experience as well.
January 18, 201610 yr When Jose kept playing Ivanovic, it's his ability in set pieces situation that earned him the spot. Therefore, to be standing there and ball watching was just unforgivable. Zouma was at fault too, but he covered for Ivanovic plenty of times prior to the incident, I would cut him some slack there.
January 18, 201610 yr Have to say, he is an absolute terrible player Got a goal and a few assists *surprisingly* recently but he has really declined alot. I fear he is gonna be our RB for atleast 18 more months.
January 18, 201610 yr Must be some sort of Eastern Euro connection between them. Serbia is not in Eastern Europe.

I thought this too at first, but he was never marking funes Mori in the 1st place, ivanovic is in the position to see the run and should have sensed the danger, and attacked the ball.
January 18, 201610 yr Neither Ivan or Zouma covered themselves in glory for that goal but bar that Zouma had a far better defensive game than Ivan...who he had to bail out a good few times also. It's beggar's belief we insist on playing him at RB, opposition managers must rub their hands seeing him line up for us.
January 18, 201610 yr Still think playing 2 DM players we are conceding too many goals look at Matic and Mikel for goals mid week and Saturday. Positions are poor and one of Evertons goals Mikel is half way up the pitch just jogging and by the time he gets back Marelles scores.

Positions are poor and one of Evertons goals Mikel is half way up the pitch just jogging and by the time he gets back Marelles scores. Mikel is trying to win the ball back higher up, I think this is new tactics under Guus and it has paid off but a double edged sword. And Matic does not sit deep, he attacks forward like an ordinairy CM come CAM, so in many situations, especially in a counter, we never have them both back in our half doing their primary defensive jobs. Regardless of positioning, Matic can't tackle nowadays anyway, our best midfield is Mikel, Cesc and Oscar.
