Theres no other viable alternative for grounds outside of Wembley unfortunately.

You can mention Spurs and Arsenal having torrid European records there but come on, both clubs are pretty sh*te in Europe anyway so thats hardly Wembeys fault that they cant adapt to the pitch or atmosphere, sure Spurs have broken the record for a European attendance for an English club at Wembley, if they cant generate an atmosphere on the back of 80K + again, thats their fault.

The way the redevelopment is taking shape, or should I say lack of taking shape on the surface at least, I cant see Chelsea playing at a new stadium within a decade, I hope I'm wrong however.

I'm afraid Wembley is the strong option. Our record there isn't too bad and if we go to Reading or MK I can't see us being a very attractive option for any potential signings. It's not ideal but we have to make the most of it and make it our home. Didn't Arsenal use the old Wembley? The new Wembley is much better and I'm not convinced Tottenham would have played better at WHL, the champions league isn't their thing after all. The only problem may be that Tottenham could still be there if their ground doesn't come in on time. As long as we had it fumigated after they leave we will be fine. I live very near Twickenham and would love that to happen but not sure why others have discounted this option.

Whomever represents or has sway over Twickenham has taken it off the table as an option. 

I see rail seating is being discussed between the Premier League. 

Does anyone know how many more fans you could pack in if we converted say 1,000 seats to rail seating? 

I guess it wouldn't catch us up to other clubs but if we could increase capacity to 50k+ by converting some areas to it that would be a good short term solution to bringing in more matchday revenue

If they allow rail standing in the premier league it will not change capacity. Each ticket will still have a designated seat.

I don't think players will be put off by a year or two away, especially given how amazing our new ground would likely look like. Even more so if we have already had success under Conte.

Tottenham may not be CL winning material, but at WHL last time they had those games vs the Milan sides.

Really? The rail seating can't pack more in the same area as standard seats? Why did I think that then... 

 

Chelsea v someone like Southend(first club to come to my mind) in the league cup at Wembley on a tues night doesnt bare thinking about, the ground would be sparse.

Door to door it can take me 90mins to two hours to get home from Wembley, sod doing that midweek.

Nothing wrong with Spurs getting battered, they're used to it.

Have just read on the CPO Facebook page that there is a meeting at 7.30pm on Thursday, 23 February. Presumably the AGM. Information is vague on the Facebook page. In the past the AGM has normally been held in late January and during the day. As this meeting will be held in the evening it will hopefully allow more people to go along. I'll be going to the meeting. Will report back after the meeting. Will post if I see or hear anymore information.

I saw that opinions are divided about the stadium. I personally am not 100% behind the design. For example, I think it's the most beautiful stadium in the world from a pedestrians view but some aerials look odd. But it's not that important in the long term. People get used to visuals.

What's important is how this stadium will help us to grow as a club.

With the increased capacity, the atmosphere should become better and more intimidating. Add to this the unique look, the divine feel, and the fact that this stadium is a reminder of traditional London architecture, and I could see this quickly becoming the most iconic stadium in the world, that other clubs will want to visit as much as they want to visit the Camp Nou or the Westfalenstadion. Let's be honest, no one visits London to see the Shard or the Gherkin (or the Emirates). As far as I know, people are curious about Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace or Tower Bridge. As someone who is from abroad I can appreciate how this stadium will fit into people's perception of what London is, an intimidating, imposing, and unforgiving place. I love it.

It will certainly put us on the map. I am 100% positive.

Thanks a lot for your efforts neilando! I had a look and it is fantastic work!

I thought I should let you know that the East Stand's upper tier is not entirely rectangular when looking at it from above. It's a pentagon with the seats in the middle going further up than the ones on the side (just as West Stand Upper, but much more symmetrical). If I had to make a guess, I believe it propagates the elevation from the MH and the SE and reaches its highest point right in the middle of the East Stand. 

I attached an image. Maybe you'll find it useful, in case you are still working on this :)

The bells go well with the architecture in my opinion. I wouldn't mind if this was one of our new themes for the new stadium. Maybe as the entrance theme for our players :)

Apologies, I gave the wrong date. The CPO AGM takes place at 11.00am on Friday, 27 January. I received documents from the CPO this morning. Will scan and post the letter later today. I and some of the people I go to the games with will be going to the meeting on 27 January and I'll report back. Not sure what's happening on 23 February.

Thats not down to Roman nd the club, that's down to us. If we want the new Stamford Bridge to come alive, we have to pour our hearts and souls into making that happen. If we lend our energy and voices to the bridge, then it will become our new home for real.

I can't see this happening, there's too many permutations, and too much red tape. Hope I'm wrong though. I like Stamford Bridge as it is, my only gripe is the position of the away fans. They get to much influence from there.
