Today is most likely Paulo's last game for us, contract expires this summer and I can't see the club giving him a new one.

He's been a great servant here, not many players that are as loyal as him considering how much he has spent time on the bench, or even outside of the squad.

I really hope hes offered some sort of job at the club, he deserves it.

Thanks for everything Paulo!

Great pro. Great man.

Exactly, great pro, never let us down when called upon lately. Isn't he supposed to be already involved in coaching the youth players?

Been solid as a rick, never once complained when he wasn't in the team either. Thanks Paulo you've been fantastic.

Yep, nothing more solid than a rick........

He seems a top professional and without knowing anything about his coaching abilities... Surely he's got to be on Mourinho's coaching staff ;-)

NB- I still don't think Jose is coming back though... But this thread is about Paulo :-) picture deviation soon.

Good man Paulo!

What if he takes Bolo's place as an assistant trainer or what ever his job is called IF Jose comes back...

Chelsea career
Paulo arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2004 when Jose Mourinho paid a then British record £13.2 million fee for a full-back to purchase the defender who had walked the road to Champions League glory with him at Porto.

Both player and manager had also won league titles in Portugal and were immediately into the winning groove in England, Paulo one of the major reasons why the Chelsea defence suffocated so many attacks in that first campaign.

All the best Paulo, hopefully he gets a cameo today.

He's been a great servant to the club and I echo the comments that he'll get a coaching role at the club.

Well, he was never our best player, but he was probably our most consistent. 9 times out of 10, you would get a steady performance from Paulo Ferreira, with excellent defensive qualities, good crosses and the ability to effectively plug holes whenever they arose. It's no coincidence that we only conceded 15 or so goals when he was at his 2004/05 peak.

Even in latter days he rarely let you down whenever he appeared and seems to have helped the likes of Alex, Bosingwa, David Luiz, Ramires and Oscar integrate effectively into the club as an elder statesman sort of figure, so his value obviously goes beyond what he provides on the pitch.

Like others here, I hope he jags a coaching role.

Paulo's been a great player for us, even though he's playing time has been reduced greatly since 2007. Jose once described as the most consistent and honest player who would always get a '7 out of 10' in every match he played.

I'd love to see him play today. I'm 95% sure he's gone, but I'd love to see stay at the club in some capacity. He really deserves a standing ovation at the end of today's match. He's a loyal Chelsea player who obviously loves the club very much.

I wish you all the best for the future Paulo!!
