Hmm, lots of conjecture and sarcasm by some on here, some of it warranted after the sacking of Di Matteo following Torres's West Brom performance. 

 

However do you really believe Jose be will be being micro-managed or do you think he'll have free reign in the affairs of the team following his initial top level brief?

 

Personally  I think he'll have free reign of team affairs and maximising investment as we all heard yesterday and of course he has to speak to and see the player first.

 

If it was me it's a tough call, 22 goals for Torres last season, his best in a CFC shirt yet and I think he's more versatile than Ba so for me it would keep Torres, have Lukaku recalled and add a.n. other top striker - Falcao, Cavani, Rooney

Also on JT, it's right that he retains the club captaincy, doesn't mean he'll be playing every week by any means.

No need to strip JT of the captancy, he hasn't actually done anything to warrant doing so.

 

Torres staying is expected but I don't think Jose will play him if he is out of form. 

JT is the captain everytime he plays. Lampard next and then Cech, Luiz and Cole. Absolutely no reason to change that.

I can see JT being much, much better next year. He lost out on a lot of game time last season and he'll want to stamp his name back in the team sheet regularly.

The addition of Mourinho will spur him on like no other.

He has the determination and discipline to come back as close to his best (as possible) for one or two seasons yet.

He'll have a big part to play in the coming season, I am sure of it.

JT is a natural captain. I don't think you can pick just anybody when John is part of the squad. He's got charisma and people follow his lead even if someone else wears the armband IMO. Lampard is also a natural leader that he sets by an example how to be a professional. I think Luiz is next down that line. These are players who wont go hiding.

I don't doubt JT's leadership qualities, but if he doesn't play, how is he supposed to BE a captain. Captain needs to be someone who is a leader, which JT most definitely is, but also someone who starts most matches. You can't just pass the armband around based on who happens to play. Give it to someone who starts majority of matches and only when he's injured/rested should the armband be given to someone else. Last season JT played 27 matches out of 69, 70, or whatever it was in the end. Frank played 50 matches, which is much more like the number you'd expect from a captain. If it would be guaranteed that at least one of JT and Lampard will start a match, or at least 90% of matches, then I suppose we could continue with the captain and vice captain we have now. To me the captain has to be the first name of the team sheet when he's fit.

I dont think its so much conspiracy theorys as it is that Roman wants what he wants and seeing he will dig into his pots of gold time after time i think he believes that eventually he will get what he wants. Seeing that he has to some extent swallowed his knob and got Jose back to manage us must mean that he accepts that he was wrong letting him go before, but i dont think he will change his format of getting a return on what he spends. The only person who has total say over Roms money is Rom. On the flipside of that Jose obvs knows that already so has accepted it already and will work with what hes given. Either way we are heading towards possibly the most exciting season since the first coming of the man Jose.

I still think JT is the captain even if he plays only third of the games. He wears it every time he plays. I think it just comes natural. No other player would want to question it or take it before him. I don't believe captain is really needed or his stature is smaller if he isn't a true leader like John and Frank are.
