According to rumours in Spain (Punto Pelota), Mourinho wants Sami Khedira at Chelsea. Same source writes that Real Madrid could sell Sami and that they will replace him with Kondogbia, if Khedira leaves.

 

What do you think of Khedira?

 

I know him really well. A box-to-box player. Amazing work rate. One of the best midfielder in the world when it comes to positioning, and movement without the ball. Great physique and mentality. Underrated speed. 

 

On the negative side. Not a good passer. It's either a simple pass from him or a breakthrough with the ball. Not the Pirlo, Rossi, Alonso-type. Could improve his technique and ball-control .

 

He was really loved and appreciated by Mourinho thought in Real Madrid. I think he's power and energy would improve Chelsea's midfield a lot. He's in his best years (26 years) and I think that PL would fit him perfectly. Much better than La Liga. Price tag? Maybe around €25M.

He's okay, would be an obvious improvement. Don't rate him as a bot to box at all, I think he breaks down more moves that way than he does create and we already have much better players for that role. If we used him as a DM only then I would be pretty content with signing him. 

 

Also worth nothing that the source reporting this is very unreliable. 

Yes. The source is sh*t. But it wouldn't be an illogical transfer. Yes, very hard to carry out, but there's a small chance. If Mourinho got a chance to pick him up I think he wouldn't doubt at all.

 

I personally think that Sami, in essence, is a box-to-box player. He's been playing a little more defensively under Mourinho's first two seasons in Madrid, but after some time he got a more offensive-minded role. In Stuttgart and in German NT, he's had a much more offenvie role, hitting the two boxes constantly. That's the true Sami IMO.

If Carlo likes Mikel so much, maybe we can do a swap.

Either from Khedira or De Rossi and I'm ecstatic. We don't have a world class player for this position and talking about IMPROVING the team these two would do it. Mikel does a job but his lack of attacking will from the position is letting us down at times.

If we're going to wait a year, why not wait for Chalobah/Ake?

 

I'm not convinced that Song would be an upgrade on Mikel. Definitely not defensively for me.

Song is decent defensively when he doesn't abandon his defensive duties. In his last season at Arsenal there was a massive creative void in AM and he took on more and more creative responsibility (see RVP's volleyed goals from Song balls over the top), abandoning his defensive duties in the process.

 

 

As for Khedira: good player, but not who we need. He's basically a more powerful, slower Ramires. Don't see any demand for him in our squad at all.

Gundogan would be expensive and I can see him going to barca if they get rid of Fabregas. And Song is probably the only back up they have for Busquets, I think.

Off topic but I think Gundogan is given the role Goetze played at Dortmund. That was atleast some speculation or I maybe he's done so in some off season friendlies. Dortmund need to hang on their stars as we know Lewa is going after this coming season.
