On a second thought, is it just me or does someone else believe that any thread that primarily is about Mikel, has the tendency to bring out the worst in forum members?

Apart from the Torres' thread, Mikel's threads always contains unnecessary arguments and counter arguments.

Seriously, some people need to take some chill pills.

well, i would point out that "stopping these arguments" is a request that could be directed at many on this thread...most notably the guy who came with literally no other motive than to have an argument and have the last word in that argument, even though the argument had nothing to do with football in any way whatsoever (i really have no idea what that guy's problem with me is tbh as this is not the first time he has done this). 

 

you can say what you want about me, but i have no personal animosity toward anyone here, or anyone on the internet. if people wish to dredge up every old argument or ill feeling they have ever had every time i post; taking personal shots rather than discussing the topic at hand; that speaks volumes about the type of person they are. 

 

as for why you would bump this thread just to reignite said argument...well...if that is what you call "respectful" then ok. i doubt many would thank you but i look forward to getting blamed for replying to you and the subsequent abuse that will surely follow.

"arguments and counter arguments" are fine. forums should be about back and forth, debating and so on. 

 

i would define would i have been doing as putting forward arguments in the whole, expressing my opinions and some of the rationale behind them; however, although i don't go away out my way to make personal comments (in fact, i joined this forum to debate football not to get caught up in petty off-topic squabbles), i don't see why i should be particularly pleasant in tone when the "counter-arguments" have been of this type:

I've had that townsend prick on ignore for ages - now you clowns start quoting his inane ranting all over the place - fair made me throw up my afternoon biscuits it has.

 

my replies have actually been far less unpleasant than any of that, in fact, i have generally tried to steer the conversation back to football and the discussion at hand.

Back on topic, they just showed a picture of a Chelsea fan who said he would get a Mikel tattoo on his arse if Monel scored. Fair play he went through with it and got "John Obi Mikel" tattooed on him.

It comes across like you have an agenda when you're continuously talking down at the same player all the time.

Any who, attempting to veer the thread back on topic, I think Mikel will start against United at home.

Although Luiz is more energetic he showed today that he can be impatient in possession and loses the ball a fair bit, against United retaining possession will be important and so I think Mikel will get the nod.

Serious question. If all of this Matic stuff pans out. Where does that leave Mikel? (assuming he doesn't replace Oscar as goalscoring #10)

 

I'm thinking we won't be hiring Matic for big money to sit him on the bench. So that leaves us JOM as 4th in the pecking order behind Ramires, Matic and Lampard.

I think Jose puts a lot of emphasis on match preparation, and its highly unlikely Matic will play, considering he will have at best 4 days of practice before sunday
