January 26, 201412 yr He has scored two brilliant goals so far - wonder if he starts Derby's next match
January 27, 201412 yr 3 I think. Came on as a sub on debut and they lost that game. Scored in last 2 games.
January 28, 201412 yr This time he started the match and got a goal also hit the woodwork. Edited January 28, 201412 yr by Las7
January 29, 201412 yr It's nice that so far the loan is working out for him. After seeing Josh and Chalobah find game time limited in the first half of the season for their Championship loans and having to move clubs halfway through the season it's nice to see that Steve McClaren seems willing to give Bamford playing time despite only having League 1 experience.
January 29, 201412 yr Lets keep our fingers crossed with Bamford. Hopefully he turns out to be one of those players who scores goals no matter what level of football he's playing. The signs are good and he's still only 20 and I couldn't think of anything better than having a young, English striker wearing our No.9. He could be the new Kerry Dixon!! I know he will face competition but he seems a very likeable, level-headed lad who is happy to learn his trade and wait for his opportunity and I can't help but think he may have a better chance of making it at Chelsea than Lukaku.

Michael Emenalo has said ideally we want our young players integrating into the first team squad around 22 years old so Bamford possibly has another couple more years to develop, based on his last couple of loans though I think it's fair to assume he is on track with his development.
January 29, 201412 yr It is a pity that the FA will not sanction a "B" team for clubs, which will benefit teams youth system better than all these loans IMHO, their own manager and coaches will bring them continuity which is missing as they keep going to different clubs during their loan period.
January 29, 201412 yr Would be fantastic to have a proper academy prospect come through, hopefully he can help Derby to promotion to the top flight and go back there on loan next season.
January 31, 201412 yr Would be fantastic to have a proper academy prospect come through, hopefully he can help Derby to promotion to the top flight and go back there on loan next season. Hardly an academy prospect though is he? He was 17 or something when he came to Chelsea. Probably wont even be regarded as club grown
January 31, 201412 yr Getting word from some fans that he doesn't do enough off the ball. Has to develop that or else he doesn't have much of a chance making it here.

I am completely against that. It wouldn't be fair on lower league teams and fans.
February 1, 201412 yr I doubt any Derby fans will mind about his work rate as long as he continues banging goals in - EPL Loan next season!
February 2, 201412 yr Until it is trailed properly no one will know, cannot dismiss it with it is not fair, life's not fair but we all have to get the best we can out of it. IMHO it could work to the advantage of other teams not just the top clubs.
February 2, 201412 yr Bet he's seen as just as an investment and we sell him in a few years for sizeable profit on 1.5m we paid for him
February 5, 201412 yr Hate to be as pessimistic as this sounds, but I'm with Barn on this. A good finisher, but maybe not the sort of player we'd want in the team if he doesn't contribute as a whole. Also, I think that the striker position will be filled in the summer with a big money signing. We'll also be very hard pressed to get rid of Tores so I fully expect next season to be (Big Signing), Lukaku (even have my doubts there) and Torres. Bamford will go on loan to somewhere like Villa, and if he does well, Chelsea will sell him on and use the money towards the first team and FFP
February 6, 201412 yr I agree with the post above apart from Lukaku. I dont think he will be with us next season. Of course i could be wrong but like Bamford i dont think Lukaku offers enough around the pitch to make it at Chelsea. You look at how hard Eto'o works around the pitch. Thats what we need. Shame he isnt 5 years younger. I would still offer him another 1 year deal. New signing to be the number 1 striker, Eto'o and back up and because we cant get rid of him torres as number 3.
February 6, 201412 yr Uno...I agree. I am not 100% sold that Lukaku will be with us. In fact, I'm looking for a few parting shots from him aimed toward Jose, and then the press vilifying us for spending so much on him and then "stalling his career."
February 18, 201412 yr Scored again tonight to secure Derby a 1-0 win. Very good long range shot into the top left corner.
