Patrick Bamford - should he get a chance?

Featured Replies

Would jose trust a costa/remy/bamford strikeforce? I think the only way bamford gets 3rd choice next season, is if we bring in another big name striker, and remy leaves.

Just can't see Mourinho being comfortable with remy and bamford. He hasn't put too much faith in remy this year.

I can't see him being around the first team next season. I think if Boro get promoted Jose would preferably want him there for one more season before coming back here.

Boro getting promoted would be fantastic for bamford next season. Even if bamford goes out on loan and scores 15 in the prem next year, I find it hard to believe he will get given a shot here. Really hope I'm wrong but our loanee's don't have the best record at coming back and breaking through.

Jose seems to favour the strong aggressive target man type of striker than a poacher like Bamford top player but can't see him making it here hope he proves me wrong though!

Would love love love to see this boy get a chance. Even if he starts as 3rd choice I can just imagine him coming on and catching a late goal here and there and eventually earning his shot. It probally won't happen but would really love it and this kid just has that instict to score which can't b taught, please give him a chance Jose whether next season or the season after, let's hope.

Bamford's been great lately and I would love to bring him back at some point in the near future! If Boro get promoted to the EPL this season it be might worth considering keep him there to see if he can cope with the EPL but all signs look great so far.

If he was to play as third striker next season I'd be ecstatic for the young lad. Deserves a real go and has potential to succeed here if he continues putting in the hard yards.

Only on the bench last night - unused sub?

Their top scorer Leadbitter was also on the bench last night, can only assume the manager was confident of a result against bottom of the league Blackpool.

What a cracking season he's having again though, when was the last time we had a player be so consistent and successful on loan from the academy? (I know we bought him for £1m from Forest but he sort of counts)

has he even played for any of the academy teams?

Spent some short time with the Under 21's I believe, from memory I think we signed him in a January transfer window and he spent his first 6 months with the club with the youth team.

Then the start of the following season he went to MK Dons, then Derby and now Boro.

So far so good. Just need him to really kick on now. Would love to see him remain with us next season and be an option - behind Costa and one other (get a feeling that Drogba and Remy will not be in our strike force next season).

I've always said he'll score goals wherever he goes because he's such an intelligent player. He doesn't rely on pace or strength, simply pops up in the right place and has nice technical skills. At his best he's a new Teddy Sheringham although Kane seems to have taken that mantle.

Think I'm right in saying that he outscored Kane at the lower levels as well. Very smart young man as well and I think he turned down Harvard University to play football. Think he could be the type of high-calibre character Jose likes in his squads.

Certainly looks like he is a man on a mission, also he is letting his skill & technique do all his talking.

Hopes he makes into the squad next season.

I don't pretend to know that much about him but from what I know, the thing that impresses me (apart from his obvious potential) is his personality - he seems so level headed and modest, prepared to bide his time and prove himself.  I really hope he makes it here.

Boro need to start sticking him in the middle a lot more. Whenever I've seen him play it's been from right midfield for some bizarre reason. He clearly knows where the net is so hopefully he gets more game time up top.

Boro manager Karanka left out Bamford, so naturally they lost with out their top scorer, Kalas started had a good game.

Good on the lad. No idea why they benched him the other day after he had scored several in not many games.

Rested him along with a few others I think, mainly due to the terrible pitch.
