Patrick Bamford - should he get a chance?

Featured Replies

I love the idea of a young English striker making it at Chelsea, but I think we need to accept this won't happen next year. The reason we have Drogba is to be able to play a big targetman when the Jose's tactics call for it - this is why he has preferred him to Remy in many games when both have been fit with Costa out. If we lose Drogba, Patrick won't solve that gap.

Moreover, it's one thing killing it in the Championship, another thing in the lower reaches of the Premiership and a different thing altogether at a trophies-chasing giant club. Bam-Bam (I'm taking a liking to that  ) will need to prove his chops in a strong league before he gets a chance with us.

In view of the above, I feel the most optimistic way he develops is that he shines for Boro in the Prem next season and then we pick him up to either replace Remy or be our second Schurrle, depending on how his game develops.

Should beat the likes of Fraizer Campbell, Gayle, Murray, Chamakh, Appiah for a place although that's a lot of competition.

All in all, good team for the lad. Fast, positive/counter attacking football with speed on the flanks.

would have kept him here tbh, think he would have challenged any of our strikers (maybe barring costa) for a position.

There is no way that a player with zero Premier League minutes is going to be selected ahead of 3 players as talented and as experienced as our attacking trio.

Just been loaned to Palace. Hard to keep him out of the team next year if he does well

I'm sure we'll find a way. Even if he scored 20+ goals for Palace next season

Sadly the truth.

Hes just signed a 3 year contract extention

Means f**k all, so has Kalas.

And he is even less likely to play than that poor bar steward Bamford.

You mean a strike force of Costa, Traore, Bamford is not on the cards for next season? ;)

Along with Van Ginkel, Bamford is the guy I'm going to keep the closest eye outside of the Chelsea team! I really want him to succeed and make further progress as a striker after a successful loan stint at Middlesbrough last season.

Looking forward to seeing how he performs this season!

It will be difficult for him since Palace have a handfull of forwards who can compete with him. I hope that not enough game time won't be an issue for him.

I want him to do well and see him in a Chelsea shirt next season.

Nice to see him get a Hatters. Seems to find them corners pretty often doesn't he? Should serve as a good confidence boost going into the weekend. I just hope he can prove himself in the big league!

Wanna bet that Bamfordinho scores more than Falcao

I will take Bamfordinho to outscore Falcao. You can have Falcao....loser pays 5 quids to The Shed End

I already donate, hence the donator badge under my profile. I don't have to be coerced through a bet. :)
