Patrick Bamford - should he get a chance?

Featured Replies

I would go as far to say he will be in the England team within 2 years. He will be the next big England striker after Rooney. He has everything to be the next "star" for England; the boy band looks, style, intelligence, personality and talent to make it.

Just got to show some bollocks and actually play the lad. He clearly has the talent to become a quality PL player and Spurs have shown if you have the balls to play someone like that then it can work.

Bit classy yesterday it has to be said.Really hope he can progress and wear the blue shirt.

I'm already calling him Bam! Bam! When my hero takes his place in another role at the club ...

And there in a nutshell is the problem.

Don't see the harm in bringing him back next season for The Drog he has shown his class and can learn a lot from Costa and maybe Didier on the coaching set up.

Great goal.

That movement and composure translates to every league. It's not like he's a pace merchant bullying slow defences, his touch and movement are what gets him goals and that stands him in good stead.

Just hope Jose has the balls to make it happen, he has certainly done every thing that has been asked of him, deserves his chance.

I absolutely agree....

and I reckon there's a chance Drogba gets a contract extension and Bamford goes back to a promoted Boro on loan.

I don't really think he will get a chance. Even Remy can't get any decent game time, so I don't see any reason to believe Bamford will.

Breaks my heart though, would love to see him break through here.

Very impressed with him but watching his two goals vs Ipswich the other day, it looks like he lacks a bit of pace.

Without real pace and real physical strength, I can't really see how he'll fit into Mourinho's style.

If this was Chelsea 1982 he would be straight in wearing the No. 9 as he does remind me a little of Kerry Dixon.

Alas for him, it is 2015 so his chances are slim to say the least but I do hope we see him get a chance - and a PROPER chance - not sitting on the bench and getting 15 minutes in the Capital One Cup.

Pretty much this, although I really hope to be wrong. Costa is going to be our main striker for at least another 5 years so realistically the best we can hope for is Bamford being our 2nd choice striker.

It'd be good to keep him at Boro next season if they go up.

Alas, I fear all he is doing is adding value to his price tag before we sell him.   NOt a big enough name, we only play one striker and there's no way we start next season's campaign with a homegrown striker.  And I think he's too good to just sit on the bench and get some game time here and there.

Not start with him as first choice, no, but he could easily be backup, he can also play on either wing which he has done well for Boro, which adds to his value as Jose often likes to put attackers out there when we are chasing games.
