This summer as far as contracts are concerned, CFC strike force will consist of Torres, Ba, Lukaku and Piazon. Is it possible to challenge on all fronts and compete for titles with this strike force? And if not, who do you realistically see complimenting these players and the team at large...

Personally I'd love to see Lukaku given the chance to lead from the front. Hazard and Lukaku are countrymen and could make for a dangerous connection for our opponents next season. If Belgium do well in the WC they will have something to build on and JM would be fully aware of that. Worse case we go in the market late August to add to the lads up front.

(Preparing for abuse)

I don't think Lukaku is good enough to be our first choice forward. Fair enough, neither is Eto, Ba or Torres.... So we need to sign someone in the summer.

Let's not forget Lukaku askewd to be transferred in the summer, so not guarantees he'll stay.

Well I belive Lukaku is the sort of player who needs to be "loved" and needs to be playing all the time.

I believe he has the credentials to be a top class ST in the future so we should play him as our main ST next season

I think we should buy Mandzukic as back-up as he has a lot of experience and get rid of Ba and Eto'o

I'm afraid no one will buy Torres due to his high wage

I see Romelu as a second choice, and I don't think he sees himself as that.  Therefore, I think he'll be gone.

Piazon is not a CF

A) that's not to say he couldn't do a job there, at 20 you could be adaptable and he show's all the attributes of a decent striker.

B) I'm not normally one to moan about multiple threads but this could have been in one of our numerous Striker threads

I like Lukaku but Mourinho doesn't favour him.. he's got strength like Drogba and loves to score (on the pitch), but that's the only comparison. We need someone who is guaranteed to put the ball in the back of the net every other game, let's be honest any of us could if we were being fed by Hazard, Oscar etc. I would love to see Diego Costa in a Chelsea shirt but I'm aware that's an unpopular choice. Falcao is unhappy at Monaco I'm led to believe, there's Cavani as well.. I would love to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Chelsea but it wouldn't happen, he's on mega bucks at PSG and he's not getting any younger!

Mario Balotelli is a big no from me, and Rooney.. forget it! Never wanted him in the first place.. Neither are prolific goalscorers.

I suppose we'll find out soon enough who Mourinho favours to replace Torres/Ba/Eto'o. I seriously reckon Torres will be heading back to Atletico & Diego Costa will be on his way to us in some sort of deal.

I wouldn't be against giving Eto'o another year, add Costa and Griezmann, who although plays mainly as a winger might turn out to be useful player who can play across the line similar to CR7. Let Torres,Ba and Lukaku go.

We defeinetly don't need three out and out strikers, one world class one and one impact player that can make the difference, someone and lukaku sounds good to me but as mentioned he doesn't want to be number 2, also it seems that we're happy to sell unless players are vital to our immediate plans, a good price that comes in for lukaku and he'll be gone.

Really out of the 4 strikers we will have we need to get rid of 3 and I think that will be as tough to get right as buying a new one

None of the three currently at the club are good enough.

Lukaka cant hold the ball up although he is very good when facing the goal or running on but his first touch is terrible.

We will be seeing quite a cull of not quite good enough players . We will be looking for some decent money from selling these not so good players to help fund three new forwards.

So who then will be our three strikers next season. Well there will be a top signing probably Costa maybe Cavani possibly Hulk and here's one for you Remy

Mandzukic and Costa are Mourinho type players and Eto'o has done enough to secure a one year deal should Jose decide to send Lukaku out for another loan spell.

I'm uneasy about Eto'o staying. That age story (thanks to the toilet level journalist at Canal+) really didn't help our chances of keeping him. I think he'll go at the end of the season. I still don't know what to make of him though. His performances against Utd and Gala were great, but he has too many quiet games.

Lukaku is definitely only going to stay if he's number one. But I don't see him as a number 1 forward, despite how amazing he's done this season.

I am hoping we finally offload Torres in exchange for Costa and maybe give Eto'o another chance. But that leaves us with an empty striker slot, who would fill that, I would not know. No world class forward is going to accept 3rd pecking and I think we may see Ba leave in the zummer.

I don't envy Jose with the number of difficult team balancing decisions he will be making this summer.

Why not consult the numerous massive threads on who our next striker should be (that you have been posting on constantly and almost exclusively since you joined).

Eto'o!!!

I don't know about anyone else, but whenever I see eto'o leading the line I have a certain air of confidence, even if he doesn't score it's damn sure he'll sufficiently hold the ball up so someone else can, rather than with Torres running off and giving the ball away time after time.

Eto'o is the perfect player for lukaku to work with and learn off, lukaku will be awesome in a year or 2, he needs a player to take over from, lukaku's development will be stunted if he's gonna play second fiddle to someone like costa for years to come, you either buy costa and sell lukaku or keep lukaku and pass on costa, I personally would rather my eggs in the lukaku basket.

Piazon is not particularly strong or fast. I dont know what makes you think hed be a good CF.

If anything Salah and Schurrle look more like strikers than Piazon

Remember everyone saying Sturridge isn't going to cut it as our striker?  "Too selfish, etc..."

Let's give Lukaku a chance.  The guy is only going to be 21 in May.  I would wager that he is FAR better at 20 than Drogba was -- playing in a tougher league too.  I think he can grow into a tremendous striker.  I for one am hoping Jose gives him a (very) legitimate chance to show what he can do.

I started this thread to offer a different perspective on the developments on and off the pitch this summer concerning Lukaku leading the line for CFC. I think it's only fair considering how much time has been given, patiently it seems, to Torres yet a lot of people are writing off Romelu. Give him a chance. At least a full season under JM and co.

I think Lukaku will leave, he thinks he's deserving of things without having to work for it. Don't want a player like that in the team.

I have to disagree with your reasoning, I think he's done everything he possibly could to earn a chance with us next season. I don't think he'll accept being third choice though behind Torres and whoever else we might sign, and nor should he have to.

Piazon is not particularly strong or fast. I dont know what makes you think hed be a good CF.

Don't disagree, that they could both be better striking options, but Piazon is also very young and getting stronger, he's also not what I would call slow

I would love to see Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Chelsea but it wouldn't happen, he's on mega bucks at PSG and he's not getting any younger!

Dear God no. Apart from the fact he does not suit the style Jose's building at all, he's a massive, self absorbed prick. You want someone willing to die for the good of the team, not someone dying to be the focus of it.

How doesnt he suit it? Replace Ibra instead of Eto'o or Torres, a big central forward who can hold the ball up well, insanely techincally gifted and has one of the best shots on him in world football. He would have a field day with Hazard. Not to mention that he can also play behind the striker.

He has said he was "willing to kill" for Mourinho while at Inter as well.

This image that hes a self absored prick.. well you could say the same about Cristiano Ronaldo.

Personally though I feel we will end up with Balotelli or Costa.. Don't even want to know the price tags on Cavani or Falcao if im honest.
