Diego Costa to Chelsea

It's not that much of a sickener. We're pretty fortunate with injuries compared to other clubs. The sickener is our bizarre have as few good strikers as possible policy. Every time I see Aguero in a City shirt I sick in my mouth a little.

Well said. Our injury record is normally very good.

I honestly think we have no option but to panic buy a striker in the next 3 days. We shouldn't pass up this chance to get rid of Torres. Surely we could afford a silly buy under FFP.

We can easily afford a striker, even before all the sales recently we could afford a very expensive striker, let alone with the net spend we've had.

Ugh, a dumbed down version of the real thing which was possibly one of the most brilliant television shows on the television. Apologies, as a Yank the Office in the US was just horrendous compared to the original. I cannot tell you how many fans of the American version that I lent the DVD's to Ricky and Todd's masterpiece. All handed it back with, "I don't get it but you like Monty Python so..."

Of course it's a sickener, jeez. Your point about us being fortunate with injuries compared to other clubs is totally irrelevant to what I am saying. Losing Costa just before one of our hardest away fixtures of the season is a sickener. That can't be reasonably argued with.

A lot of guess work involved on supposed time he will be sidelined...if he did tweak something, club will have better idea of how serious it is later in Thursday or Friday...papers just giving worst case scenario to sex up the story at this stage...obviously we hope it is minor - it is what everyone feared before the season started....might also ruin Torres impending departure...even worse

Typical, absolutely f**king typical.

What the f**k is it with us and strikers?

Giroud is injured, Jay Rodriguez, Benteke and Negredo have all been injured.  Most of the good teams are facing injuries to their strikers.  Hopefully this isn't as serious as the doomsday papers are making it out to be.

Not to go off topic but ill have to politely disagree. Once it moved away from copying the original and started delivering its own content it became exceptionally good, Incomparable to the orginal but just as good in my opinion.

Drogba and Schurrle up front, without considering Torres.

I think this season with Matic and Fabregas available and playing very well, along with WIllian, a semi returning Osccar, and a coming into form Hazard all able to play a "false 9" for the next few weeks while Costa recovers, I think we could and should be alright

In essence, we don't need to panic buy a striker, nor are we in a position to be "bent over the barrel" of we were to go out and but a back up.

Or we will probably just go and sign Cavani anyway

How has it been brought to a head?! Jose banging the FFP drum and saying our squad is exactly how he wants it.

Last season our strikers were apparently why we didn't win the league as he so often reminded us. The glaring deficiency in our squad is lack of depth up top.. So if this costa rumour is true and we are left with drogba and torres as our options then there is nowhere to hide in terms of excuses

There are a few threads on here regarding the situation and the general consensus is we are short, so your "wake up" comment is unfortunately misplaced in this instance

Unfortunately my friend FFP and the number of foreign players rule are facts we have to comply with.

You are wrong to blame Mourinho here. Jose absolutely has brought the Torres situation to a head. But he is not the person who has the power to get Torres out of the club, nor is it in his interests to come out and say what he obviously thinks about Torres, i.e. he's crap and I desperately want to get rid of him so that I can bring in a quality replacement.

What he does have the power to do, and thank God the cohones to do, is the opposite to what he has been saying to the media and leave Torres out of his team and completely marginalised. I take it you have heard of the phrase "actions speak louder than words" ? Well, Jose's actions here prove his true opinion of Torres but, as uncomfortable as he makes the situation for both Torres and Abramovich, it is still not in his power to get him out of the club only Roman and Nando can make that happen but Mourinho is doing a bloody fine job at trying to force their hand.

The Lukaku outcome is another factor to consider in our striker predicament and also one that cannot be blamed on the manager. Jose told Lukaku he wanted him to return and be part of his squad but that wasn't enough for the boy. He wanted to be the first choice, starting centre-forward which, quite rightly, Jose could not guarantee him and so he chose to leave. If only Torres would do the same!

Believe it or not, a good striker isn't so important in big games.

The game will be more open and I reckon Drogba could do a job. Even if it is to solely hold the ball up.

Well we all talked about this happening. At least it's before the window shuts. There's no excuse really when the likes of remy are available
