Does this guy look like he has the hunger to make it at chelsea?

Josh makes more headlines in the gossip section of papers and his career is going down the swanny...while he deserves a life, seen far too much of him out on the town or whatever...classic example of what lamps referred to as a young player who thinks he's made it and doesn't work on his game....put it this way, if you're Jose and see this story and pics, would you think he's ready to be part of your squad? Me neither

Some of us have been saying this for a while. He will never make it, Championship player at best. He hasnt progressed at all since coming on when we had Carlo and you can spare me the excuses because thats on him. Talented lad, but doesnt have what it takes it to make it at the top level

"Brooke and Josh, seen here in 2012, dated for three-years. They have now unfollowed each other on Twitter"

...

That bit made me laugh. The break up must be serious then.

"Brooke and Josh, seen here in 2012, dated for three-years. They have now unfollowed each other on Twitter"

...

Bloody hell, doesn't that just sum it up perfectly.

I remember seeing another story where he picked this talentless bint up in this flash Porsche...just seemed wrong to me...this kid has done nothing in his career and yet has all this cash to splash on flash cars

I think we're being a little too harsh on him, even lampard said he was too flashy when he was young, but as he got older he realised.

Josh is still very young, and as all players these days, he earns far too much. There's not been any pics of him falling out of club the night before a match.

I don't thinks he got the mentality to make it to the top, and he has not had the right breaks either.

But I wouldnt put any of this down to the fact his girlfriend is off corrie.

^ bluedave.....Easy counter argument to make, but lamps was a first team player...doesn't excuse acting like an idiot, but he was much further down the line in his career...last time I checked, josh has had another underwhelming spell on loan at a championship club..

Meanwhile, while josh was pissing about, Jt was doing extra training at cobham this week

A bit harsh gents. I think the article is out there more to do with his former girlfriend rather than him. He is collateral damage of the odd infatuation we seem to have with people who stand in front of cameras for a job.

I don't think the moment has come where I have written him off. He is still young and he had massive expectations flung on him that were way out of proportion with his ability.

The worst thing that ever happened to Josh was Carlo getting fired. He had shown faith in him and noone has shown that since.

I actually think his next loan spell should be overseas. The Championship is not the place for a player like him, a PL club fighting for survival isn't either. I would suggest that he goes to Vitesse or to Spain where he can get gametime and a bit of confidence, in an environment where being able to pass the football is valued over work ethic.

I get the impression that some of you think that young players should do nothing but train, day and night. He is a young guy, of course he is going to go to nightclubs and have fun with his friends, nothing wrong with that as long as it doesn't go overboard and start affecting his training/performance levels.

Don't see the problem in it. If you're both on social media, it's a great idea to unfollow / unlike whatever.

My experience is that cutting ties with your ex when you break up is a healthy attitude.

Think you've clearly already made up your mind about him and are trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, so to speak. I have no idea how anyone can use this particular "gossip" against him. He's broken up with his girlfriend, so what? How does that mean he's not putting in the effort?

Him splitting up with his celebrity girlfriend doesn't mean he isn't hungry enough to make it at Chelsea. Ashley Cole had a celebrity girlfriend and split up with her yet he still put in great performances etc . Maybe just maybe Josh isn't good enough for Chelsea and that's why he cant get into the first team squad.

So those pro josh don't see any correlation between him being seen out and about with a celebrity girlfriend for the past three years, with his career going backwards? Going on loan to championship clubs no less and failing to shine...you blame Carlo going for him failing to breakthrough? If he was good enough he'd be pushing for a first team place, if not here then at another pl club...don't see many people bashing our door down to take him, do you?

I couldn't care about his social life. All I know is that i'm envious of him, not for strolling around with female cast members from a soap, but because he's 21 and probably earns more in a month than I would in 5 years, in a job he loves doing - B@stard!

is it really that much of a slow news week?

Let's see: We're on the eve of a World Cup in Brazil. This may be of interest to some, I suppose.

- Frank Lampard leaves the club, will he be having a testimonial? Where will be playing next?

- There's a chance that Ashley Cole may still be here next season after all.

- We could conceivably be on the brink of signing Costa and Fabregas.

- Courtois could be coming back next season, so where does that leave Petr Cech?

- And then then there's Lukaku's future to think about.

- Hopefully the farce that is the Qatar World Cup will have to be abandoned, though sadly i suspect that FIFA will continue to be the greedy bunch of corrupt bar stewards they've always been.

- Adidas backing the integrety of the Qatar World Cup bid says all that anyone needs to know about Adidas.

But Josh McEachran splitting up with some celebrity slapper? I honestly couldn't give a flying f**k.

3 years ago when he was playing for Chelsea reserves he was absolutely quality, when he used to play a few games under Carlo when he was about 17 he was quality. Looked like a Paul Scholes type player, very tidy on the ball, good passer and good creativity. Every pass he used to make in the reserves would lead to a chance for the team.

Don't know if it was that new contract or what but it certainly went all Micah Richards for him I reckon, all I ever used to see was his brand new cars and fancy clothes and him going out with his girlfriend. I'm not going to make any excuses for him at Middlesbrough either, yes Mowbray played him out of position but Josh didn't perform to standard, he let himself down, as did Gael Kakuta, it seems we just aren't that good at handling youth we probably never will be either.

This thread is amazing. Using tabloid gossip to create more nonsensical gossip... How can people even think of analyzing this story and discussing it?! How does this relate to anthing at all?

Not really...the reason I highlighted this story is not because it's a one off as far as josh is concerned...the only time I ever see him in the papers is for this kind of crap...now like everyone I had high hopes for him when he came through, but it's obvious to everyone that it's not happening...now if people don't want to question the reason why and just think he's been unlucky, then fair dos...but like I said, I don't think it's a coincidence that all the tabloid crap I see about him has coincided with his career going down the swanny...so not a pointless thread at all

I don't see the big deal.

He is out with his now ex girlfriend and mates, everyone does that. This is normal, and i am sure that if the other players had celebrity girlfriends then you would see a lot of pics in the papers of them too.

It can't be all about the football.

Brit as I said the articles aren't being written about him.

You can be sure Baker, Chalobah etc are our doing similar things, their girlfriends just weren't soap actresses so they don't end up in the papers

I do think Carlo going had a massive impact. But at the same time I'm not making excuses for him, he clearly hasn't progressed much since the time we first saw him.

I'm going to float another hypothesis which might be closer to the truth. He wasn't actually as good as we thought he was. And like Kakuta before him he has fallen victim to massive expectations way out of line with his ability.
