August 31, 201411 yr Anyone still bothered we flogged Lukaku? Not in the slightest. Am I the only Chelsea fan who never at any point thought this guy was good enough for Chelsea? Granted he was better for Everton last season than any of Eto'o, Torres or Ba, but that's only because they were below Chelsea standard. He's got the touch of a rapist and while he has improved with the ball at his feet, he still has almost no technical ability in my opinion.

No I had my doubts and I said as much, I did however think he'd be a better second choice striker than Torres. Potential he has but right now he doesn't look anywhere bear the finished article he thinks he is.
August 31, 201411 yr Chelsea strikers are like buses, wait ages for one to come along and then three come along all at once.

Agreed, but also the reason he could never be successful at Chelsea was that he seems unwilling to be second choice at any team. I can understand he's young and wants game time, but he never seemed willing to fight against Torres, Eto'o and Ba for number one spot, and so he looked for a loan option. If he keeps that attitude, and is unwilling to have to fight his way up a pecking order, he will never succeed at any club with title ambitions.

August 31, 201411 yr How great is it to have Mourinho back and building the squad? Signing Remy makes me even more excited for the rest of the season. We have the best squad now that we've had for years, now all that's left is winning trophies.

Exactly he wanted to be first choice, Mourinho even said as much recently. I think he's far too cocky tbh.

August 31, 201411 yr One reason I van't us to get the league cup won, get that first trophy in the bag. And if we keep our current squad we should walk it. Cech Azpilicueta - Zouma - Cahill - Filipe Mikel - Van Ginkel Salah - Willian - Schurrle Remy
August 31, 201411 yr And if we keep our current squad we should walk it. Cech Azpilicueta - Zouma - Cahill - Filipe Mikel - Van Ginkel Salah - Willian - Schurrle Remy MvG is heading to Milan it seems. So the merry-go-round is finished then, Liverpool turn down Remy to sign Balo, which in turn sends Milan to us for Torres, which ends with us signing Remy. Have to say I am more happy now at this deal than I was a few days back. Now Jose has the option when chasing games to play Remy off Costa.
September 1, 201411 yr Perhaps they decided to cancel it and go for Balotelli I suspect this also and I'd that is the case, its absolutely shocking and disgusting that they would cover the fact with a bogus medical reason and would further illustrate what a disgraceful club they are. Not only could this have affected Remy, but QPR aswell. Probably all this options depending on injuries etc I still can't believe we've replaced our entire strike-force not very often that happens, really feel like this season (and part of last) has been the clear-out we've been speculating we'd have for years Same here, but what a breath of fresh air it is eh. One of the reasons Jose didn't have us pegged for the title last season, is because he knew our weaknesses and didn't want to get the fans' hopes up. He addressed every problem with lightning speed and almost surgical precision. We're a much stronger side with Remy and I don't think anybody should underestimate just how valuable he will be for us this season. Not in the slightest. Am I the only Chelsea fan who never at any point thought this guy was good enough for Chelsea? He's got the touch of a rapist and while he has improved with the ball at his feet, he still has almost no technical ability in my opinion. Not to mention that he is very flat footed and doesn't glide up the pitch like Costa and Remy. He did well at lower level clubs and expected to be treated the same here without proving himself. Very foolish and self centred player. He will always be a big fish in a small pond unless he bucks his ideas up.
September 1, 201411 yr Still wondering what actually happened there, really can't see it been a medical issue I'm going with Remy hates Liverpool just like Willian hates Tottenham
September 1, 201411 yr I like what he said about being "thrilled when I heard Chelsea were interested in me." Hope he accepts being second choice especially since i would assume he's seen Costa beasting in the first 3 games.

Hope he accepts being second choice especially since i would assume he's seen Costa beasting in the first 3 games. I'm sure he knows. Given that Lukaku left because he wasn't willing to compete, I bet Jose stressed to Loic the situation he'd be coming into.
September 1, 201411 yr I like how in his interview he states he knows that there are already two great strikers at the club and that he will have to step up in order to be in contention. Finally, someone who accepts they won't be automatically first choice but is willing to fight for a place.
September 1, 201411 yr As much as I love to have Falcao in our team, Remy is a good option at the fraction of the price. From the limited of what I have seen, he's fast, good finisher and runs the channel well.
September 1, 201411 yr What did you expect from a new signing lol? Good signing. Adds something different- pace and directness, similar to how Anelka played with us he will look to pick up the ball in midfield and run at the defense. What I don't get is the RAWK-style witchhunt on Lukaku. Lukaku more than proved himself (scored more than Remy), but we decided not to take a risk on him. For such a huge fee it's very easy to justify the club's decision but there's no need to be revisionist.

For such a huge fee it's very easy to justify the club's decision but there's no need to be revisionist. WE weren't the ones that gave up on Lukaku, Lukaku gave up on us. Lukaku would have got plenty of game time but he wanted Costa's game time, and he simply isn't ready for that yet. He is not good enough to be our number 1 striker yet, had he stayed here he may well have been. I like that he has confidence in his abilities, but he is blinded by his own arrogance.
September 1, 201411 yr An old article: New Marseille forward Loic Remy has been cleared to play despite the discovery a heart problem during his initial medical with the Ligue 1 champions. The 23-year-old underwent additional medical tests on Monday which showed the condition was no obstacle to his footballing career. Club doctor Christophe Baudot said the heart specialists who dealt with Remy the second time round could find no reason to prevent him practicing sport at a high level. This is probably why Pool didn't want to invest. They are under American ownership and he went to see doctors in America. They treat acquisitions like investments and they were probably advised against buying a player with diagnosed heart condition. That is just like Ba whose legs were gone for good when we got him... Welcome Remy!!
September 1, 201411 yr We've been going about our transfer business in a swift and decisive manner these days. Willian, Matic, Fabregas, Zouma and now Remy have been signed quickly. Also Costa's arrival seemed like agreed upon even before the end of last season. The people in-charge deserve credit for this as our rivals are still dithering and most likely be forced into panic buys.
