April 18, 201610 yr There is literally no reason not to give them a few games at the end of this season. There is never going to be an opportunity to play them with less risk.
April 18, 201610 yr Well done lads! Hopefully some of the boys will get a few minutes in competitive games now. Certainly Abraham/Palmer deserve a go. In terms of potential to make it here Tomori/Sterling stood out for me.
April 18, 201610 yr Shame senior side didn't show as much heart, ability and desire to retain their trophy...youth team should be celebrated at end of year awards, given the top tables, with seniors shoved off to the side...fcuk it, they should be made to wait on the tables...at least earn some of the salaries they have picked up for doing fcuk all the season For gods sake keep Hazard away from the kitchen!
April 18, 201610 yr Brilliant result for the boys! I was babysitting and stupidly forgot my sister is such a tight git they don't have BT Sport, should have looked after my niece at mine & turned her into a baby blue!! I'm sure her dad would be chuffed (Gooner) First team to retain the Champions League at any level in recent history! Great news! Some of these boys have to make it here!
April 18, 201610 yr Back to back champions! Amazing feat, proud of the ladsFirst team ever to do this in the Champions League, an amazing achievement by an amazing group of young players.
April 18, 201610 yr Great job- puts the first team to shame. Do they get a chance to defend the title next year? Or does qualification mirror the senior Champions League?
April 18, 201610 yr Great job- puts the first team to shame. Do they get a chance to defend the title next year? Or does qualification mirror the senior Champions League? So apprentlley they wont automatically get the chance, first they have to see if there are any spaces available. Such as a qualified team not actually having a youth team. Then it comes down to UEFA's discretion. With our success in this competition and the youth cup we must set a realistic target for first team progression. The best team in europe two years running but we would rather go out and buy ready made products who at the same age probably wern't as good
April 18, 201610 yr You would think uefa would try get the holders of trophy for last two seasons a chance to defend it...but then this is UEFA and we are not Barcelona so can't expect any favours
April 18, 201610 yr http://www.uefa.com/...l?autoplay=true This link takes you to the goals, based on those 3 minutes I'd give Palmer some game time with the senior squad haha.
April 19, 201610 yr Absolutely brilliant and hopefully this leads to some of them getting chances. We're so dominant at this level of the game but sometimes you wonder what the point is. But Palmer, Colkett, Clarke-Salter and Abraham are all deserving of a chance.
April 19, 201610 yr The co-commentator is especially bad, sounds like he's half asleep and saying how Chelsea will one day reach the heights of PSG... idiot which team has won the CL? The co-commentator was Efan Ekoku, who currently works for Premier Productions, which produces the world feed commentaries. An English-born Nigerian, he was with ESPN for the 2010 World Cup, although what BT were doing with an old Norwich striker for this event is beyond me. Quite frankly, some of his comments were bizarre and a classic example was the description of Casey Palmer’s stunning drive from thirty-odd yards out early in the first half, which was tipped over by PSG’s keeper. Ekoku saw it as Palmer benefiting from ’a fortuitous bobble’ (can you actually have one of those?) just before he struck the ball, thereby teeing it up for him, the implication being that the shot owed more to luck than judgement, whereas the keeper’s save, good as it was, had him in absolute raptures. In fact, PSG had him in rapture all evening, primarily due to the ’physical presence’ running through a side that had seen off Real Madrid, downing them like an easily consumed aperitif, in hungry anticipation of having Chelsea there for the taking, on a plate, in the final. So that first half must have come as quite a shock to Efan, what with Maddox and Scott tidying up busily down the flanks against opposition twice their size, while Colkett and Ali did the same thing centrally in front of a well-drilled back four who were never going to let mere physical presence break them down. A word of praise too for keeper Collins, by far the best Cudicini-esque shot-stopper we’ve had at this level for many a year, although once again a begrudging Efan chose not to praise his penalty save, nor dwell too long on Augustin’s poor kick - Jean-Kevin is, after all, going to be ‘a certain star of the future’- or at least he will be in the Ekoku Galaxy. But not, we must assume, in a firmament likely to be lit by many of our lot, if his biased co-commentary is anything to go by. Personally, I would beg to differ and I’m also in disagreement with those on here who think that the quality simply isn’t present at this Development Squad level, or at that immediately beneath it [under-18] - for me, quality runs right through the Academy ranks and is evidenced by our continued success over the last five years. The Brit has already said we should play them all against Bournemouth, if only to embarrass the already-on-the-beach boys we’ve been watching recently. To be honest, it wouldn’t surprise me if the vast majority of those playing in Switzerland now are playing at the Bridge in a few years time, and probably a handful of them will be first team regulars a lot earlier. If I had to pick five to fit this bill as of now they would be three of the back four and two others:- Jake Clarke-Salter, Fikayo Tomori, Ola Aina, Casey Palmer and Tammy Abraham. Please, please Antonio, don’t loan this quintet out. No more Chalobahs, McEachrans or Bamfords, just give them squad numbers and trust in their undoubted ability. And while you‘re at it (should you prove to be as radical as we are currently being led to believe) why not take an even bigger gamble and give sixteen-year old Dujon Sterling an extended run of games at full back. He’s raw, but big enough, good enough and old enough… despite such sheer physical presence and prodigious talent escaping the gimlet eye of a certain Mr Ekoku. . Edited April 19, 201610 yr by Dorset
April 19, 201610 yr Jake Clarke-Salter, Fikayo Tomori, Ola Aina, Casey Palmer and Tammy Abraham. I think Aina would have quite an easy transition into the 1st team. He's obviously talented and physically immense, but also, Azpi has been absolutely pants since he went back to right back. I suppose it all comes down to who is given a chance, who is shipped of Vitesse and who gets stuck in a series of fruitless championship loans.

Aina reminds me of Essien, would be interesting to know if he's ever played in midfield... I'm still not convinced by him at full back, hopefully will start at Bournemouth... see how he get's on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTs62jD2s28 Edited April 19, 201610 yr by the special one

April 19, 201610 yr Absolutely not even a speck of hope of that happening. Liverpool started a couple of youngsters at full back last Sun and won 2-1... why not? But most likely you're right. Edited April 19, 201610 yr by the special one
April 19, 201610 yr Back to back UEFA youth league winners, surely we have the best youth players in the world. If a handful of these players don't make it here then we have failed with our work on the youth setup and we will never see younger players come through. These kids could be our United or Barcelona, this could be our turn to bring forward a generation of world class young footballers, we can't miss out on that.
April 19, 201610 yr Liverpool started a couple of youngsters at full back last Sun and won 2-1... why not? For better or for worse... We're not Liverpool.
April 20, 201610 yr The Champions league in this format has never been defended by any age group. Well done young blues making their own history, i can only hope they get a chance in the first team. They would surely give more effort and show more passion than these overpaid prima donnas.
