Mr Pellegrino

Featured Replies

Has anybody read or heard what Mr Pellegrino said about us? It's here for anyone interested http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/sep/21/chelsea-small-team-manuel-pellegrini-manchester-city. Apparently we are a small club, who play like Stoke. What is this moron talking about? A small club who are the most consistent British team in European competitions, every season, a club who even without Champions League football, wins the other European competition, how many Champions League trophy's do City have? They haven't won a European competition since 1970. As far as us playing like Stoke, did he watch our performance against Everton? We've scored 16 goals this season, we battled for a point against a top side, away from home, early in the season, we nearly killed the game off, the post saved them, and this old fool moans about it, he should feel lucky that he got a point, what an idiot. What do other fans think of his genius comments?

Mourinho ruffles his feathers so much, he cannot stand not beating us. Average manager with a great squad. If Mourinho managed City last year and this year, then they would walk the title.

i dont care what he says at all

of course compare the spending they made we are definitely a small club

a club who sponsor themselves, borrowing players from the club with the same owners we definitely cannot compare with them

It's called tactics...if we went into the game in the same manner as our previous games, we would have shipped 3 goals.

Getting a point away to a title rival isn't a bad thing, and we played to that.

His name speaks volumes: Pellegrino - Plenty of sparkle in the water but no taste

No wonder they never get far in the champions league, they play the same way whoever they face... they're like arsenal but with more expensive players.

He likes opponents to play to his team's strengths and not the weakness.. so he can win. If they don't, they're considered small.

No wonder he got sacked at Real.

Funny enough, there's another (considerably lesser) manager called Mauricio Pellegrino. Was this a veiled jab at Pellegrini by comparing him to a much lesser manager? Or was it just a deliberate mispronunciation just to aggravate Pellegrini?

I think this is one comment he will regret on, like the one Jose made and 'serial failure' Wenger last year. He didn't lose, perfect opportunity to have a dig at Jose without being branded a sore loser

It's mind game going too far, I dare him playing open attacking football at the Bridge.

It was his side who played like stoke who decided to their tactic was to hack down anything that moved.

Come on people grow up, he only said the same sort of thing Jose says when we fail to get a result. Who cares, and more importantly why? Jose and the squad will be laughing about it at traaining tomorrow.

You'd have thought he'd be happy...he's finally got a point off of us.

But he knows that he needed to win yesterday. We lost the league because we couldn't beat the teams who came to the Bridge and defended deep and we're already looking more willing to take it to these teams.

And he lost to Stoke at home.

Fact is he's a 61 year old who up until last season had the Intertoto Cup at the top of his resume. He's everything Mourinho isn't and he's jealous of that.

He's definitely losing it...last week he moaned about two arsenal goals as if they were the worst decisions ever, when there was nothing...think we're all accustomed to a few barbs between managers, but rarely this early...me thinks pellegrino is feeling the pressure of our good start...given we are the top scores in the league, his dig is laughable...bet that won't stop the media going along with it though

He's just wound up, the pressures on him, his jobs on the line. All managers say questionable things, just some lose it worse than others (Keegan anyone). Its exactly why they interview managers right aftet the game, they know they'll say things they'll regret.

To be honest I couldn't care less how we win games. What good is it playing tactics that make the neutral happy to watch our games coz we have 4/5/6 goals in a match. The fact is football is about winning. Winning trophys more then anything. History speaks volumes. Who cares now how we won the champions lge or the Europa lge??? The fact is the trophy is in the cabinet. You only have to look at the dippers last year. Exciting to watch but ended up with nothing.

Odd that Pellegrini should accuse us of playing like Stoke when it was his own side who adopted the standard Championship tactic of trying to boot the opposition off the pitch. It was only thanks to Dean's generosity that they still had 10 men at the end.

Meh.

Managers do this when they are frustrated about losing points they feel they shouldn't have lost.

Jose did it with West Ham and the 19th century football comments.

Just trying the mind games... I see Jose hit back.

Anyway laughable... I just saw the MOTD highlights that was a proper hatchet job on Costa... how negative was that ?

I'm glad at least one person in this thread knows it's spelt "Pellegrini"

It's a reference to Mourinho calling him that. Well I assume that's what the OP was alluding to.
