Although I think Oblak is the superior keeper so doubt they’d go for it! apparently his release clause is 80m, if we got the 48m odd for Tibo rumoured I’d be happy with a net loss of approx 32m go get him, obviously all those figures are pure guesses Trouble is, Real will pay him way more than Atletico.

Your probably and I'm just clutching at straws. Kristof Terreur the Belgian journalist has just tweeted that a fee has been agreed with real fir Courtois, but we are waiting for a replacement first. Hopefully we end up with alisson.

Absolute steal in today's market, but we have no leverage. I'd be tempted to keep him in his final year. Not saying we should do that but we should consider it. Yes we lose out on £35m but qualification for CL makes up for that. Unless we have somebody top drawer lined up (which we may well do), maybe best to sit on this for a year, by which time a new young keeper may have emerged. Also, we'll be saving on wages for the next 12 months, because Courtois will be tied to his existing contract. Not the worst outcome but far from ideal either. I just don't think there's anybody out there we can get that's as good as Courtois, even though they'll probably be more expensive, so we're spending money to downgrade basically. Having said that, I've hardly seen Allison and if the club are in the process of snapping him up then I think that's probably a pretty good outcome from all of this, if his reputation is merited of course.
July 17, 20188 yr If you’re naming the ten best keepers in the world right now, Courtois is one of them and I’m not sure any of the other 9 would be obtainable. So like @Davey Baby says we’re facing the prospect of spending big to downgrade. We did that last season with Costa/Morata and I’d rather not do it again.
July 17, 20188 yr 62m for Aliison f**k me......let him go to pool then. Why the f**k didnt we put a contract on the table years ago? Now we will pay for it........
July 17, 20188 yr If Courtois is going then who the hell are we going to be in for? Allison is already off to Liverpool, do we just stick with Willy? Edited July 17, 20188 yr by Blueblur
July 17, 20188 yr Happy to drive the ugly bastard to Heathrow myself, always moaning, never looked happy, is Peter Borata still around .

July 17, 20188 yr I wish If we already knew he wasn't going to sign the contract back in January we should've benched him completely from January it would have forced him to sign it since it was world cup year. But he played us! :))) Now we are going to lose him for next to nothing and going to sign a sub par goal keeper. Sad times. Edited July 17, 20188 yr by CFCBlue12
July 17, 20188 yr RMC also saying a deal is struck at 35 million euros now. Looks like it's happening. Very unfortunate and very worried about what Hazard makes of it.

Arsenal thought much along those lines in allowing both Sanchez and Ozil to get deep into the last year of their contracts and in the end it cost them . If Courtois or indeed any player wants off then there really isn’t any positives in keeping them against their will. Heres one from left field in that Arsenal are going to get rid of one of their keepers and whilst it’s far from ideal how about re signing Cech on a one year deal with the option of another one year.

We've been trying to get him to sign a new deal for at least 18 months. The numbers reported to be on the table would make him the top paid goalkeeper in the world bar de gea. He has refused to sign, there is nothing more we can do, other than get the best replacement possible.
July 17, 20188 yr If we're really selling T-bo for 35m euros, it suggests we're going to take a massive hit on Hazard's fee if we sell him next year. I mean, if Allison is going to fetch about £70m, Courtois (who is more or less the same age) has to be worth around £100m, which means we're selling him at a third of his value. We could well end up selling Hazard for £50m if he doesn't sign a new deal and if we sell him next summer.

Just don’t sell him at all, Madrid will not wait 2 years for what will then be a 30 year old winger IMO!

July 17, 20188 yr Said in the transfer thread that now Alisson looks lost we should just try and copy what Manchester Untied did with De Gea and keep Courtois for the last year with the offer of a massive pay rise and release clause. Nobody (asides from Oblak?) top quality that we can get this summer. Would love to see how Pickford develops though. Edited July 17, 20188 yr by Fatty_Speeding
July 17, 20188 yr Apparently we are looking to bring Petr back if Tibo leaves and Alisson goes somewhere else.

Then its just another f**k up by the board then......if they damn well knew what was up, why the horrible wait? We should have had a keeper long ago.....not surprising of course given our stand these past years.

July 17, 20188 yr He is overrated and lost us the game against Barcelona (among other games as well). His sale won't be as bad as people are making out.
