Thibaut Courtois

A lot of people kicked up a fuss when people called Conte a c**t during the season but absolutely no outrage with people using the same language against Courtois on this thread.

If you're going to call a Chelsea player/manager a c**t i think you should direct that word at yourself instead. Embarrassing.

There is indeed outrage.  I thought we had managed to weed out all the plastic f**kwits who called our own players or manager a c**t,but it seems like one or two managed to slip  through the net.  Self-entitled, spoilt brats.

Embarrassing is right, mate.

And one of the same twats who did that said a couple of days earlier

"As much as I like that Alisson bloke and accept that he would probably fit better with Sarri's system, Courtois is a top talent and we must do everything to keep him."

Gotta  be off your schizophrenia meds for  a few days to get that disconnected with your own self.  It explains a lot, though!

Love T-Bo, but I think I am ready to see Chelsea sell him so he can go to Madrid like wants. I've barely watched Alisson play so I can't make any judgment on his ability other than what I've read on here and in some articles I've read as well. Also, that he starts ahead of Ederson from City :good2:.

I'm just tired of his clamoring for Madrid in nearly every interview he does. Granted, the journos ask him every single time so it isn't completely his fault. I was hoping he would be CFC's keeper for the next 10 years but it doesn't seem that it is meant to be.

Well he sure as hell can't play unless he signs a new contract.

Funny how suddenly wanting to see his kids more has taken secondary priority behind money.

The old "I need to be closer to my kids OR make enough money to have a private jet to see them more" conundrum.

I thought that was obvious.

Our current keeper is miles better than the ones we have been linked to. That Brazil keeper looked awful at the world cup, he is poor aty coming out to catch crosses which Tibo is probably one of the best in the world at doing that.

But everything that I read about Sarri is that his goalkeeper will need to be extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet which Courtois clearly isn't. Regardless of his ability in dealing with crosses or even certain aspects of his shot stopping ability, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Sarri bins him off for a better footballing goalkeeper, which is what Guardiola did with Hart. Guardiola made a point of saying that he wasn't criticizing Hart as a goalkeeper, he just didn't fit in with the type of goalie he needed in his system. I think from reading what I have seen that Sarri may well adopt a similar stance.

It will come down to what Tibo wants in reality. He either signs a new deal and stays or he doesn't and is sold. It will have little to do with anyone 'binning' him

He's all but gone tbh.  Our problem now is finding a good enough replacement. Alisson is the best one we can get at the moment, but Liverpool seem to be winning that race.  If we lose Courtois and miss out on Alisson we may have some serious problems.

how about Pope or Heaton at Burnley? cant see them keeping both as both will want first team football.

Liverpool and Roma are very close to reaching an agreement for the transfer of Alisson.

Alisson has already held talks with Klopp, a signal of how the negotiations are at an advanced stage. (@DiMarzio)

Sounds as if we have been gazumped by Liverpool at the last minute.  I guess we have done that plenty of times so can’t really complain!

Really not fussed about Liverpool getting him. May be proved wrong, but he looks pretty average as an actual goalkeeper, just his skill with the ball at his feet gets some pundits very excited.

Who are our realistic alternatives if Tibo leaves?  Don’t really see us going for either of the Burnley keepers, as someone mentioned.  Butland or Donnarumma?  Cillesen?  Asenjo?  Navas?  Lopes?  Trapp?

Just throwing out names of buyable keepers, not necessarily ones that are on par with Courtois.  I don’t even know enough about specific keepers around Europe that would fit Sarri’s style.

Courtois needs to sh*t or get off the pan.

If he isn't going to sign a new contract then let's get Allison in.

It's been on the table for at least 12 months.

I know it would be financially more beneficial for him to stay, and personally I would prefer him to stay, but he has gotten to the point now where the club will have to make his decision for him.

I wonder if the club have spoken to atletico about a swap deal, that would get him back to Madrid and a club I feel he had more of a connection with. Although I think Oblak is the superior keeper so doubt they’d go for it!

apparently his release clause is 80m, if we got the 48m odd for Tibo rumoured I’d be happy with a net loss of approx 32m go get him, obviously all those figures are pure guesses

If there is even a 1% chance of us landing Oblak then we should be all over it.  It's never going to happen though. :(

Allegedly in Madrid to agree a deal tonight.

Fee rumoured to be €40m which is much lower than I thought we’d get.

The optimist in me says roma have leaked a fake big bid from Liverpool to try and force our hand.
