Patrick Bamford - Back at Chelsea?

Pele and Bamford

I'd prefer to see him at Southampton as well, they improve a lot of players and they also need good young strikers.

Their top striker Rodriguez was injured, you would imagine that he will go straight back into the team now that he's back from injury. A team like Southampton would be a good place for Bamford to go but they have quite a lot of choices upfront, Pelle, Long, Mane and Rodriguez. That's a lot of competition, even if 3 out of the 4 can play on the wings.

According to The Times Bamford looks set to reject a chance to join Newcastle on loan and wants to join up with the Chelsea squad for the pre-season tour of America.

Pushing for a squad place in the event that Remy leaves?

I love his attitude, always have. He wants to be a chelsea player, for that much is certain, but he needs the chance. He has done everything asked of him on loans, so time to give him a shot at least. I thought jose was a fan of his anyway? That's what i read before last season.

I would be happy with that too (on the condition that Remy does actually go) because if Falcao doesn't cut it Bamford will/could end up with lots of minutes.. Only an 'IF' i grant you.

Wasn't he injured towards end of season? Wondering if that is a reason. To be fair, solanke and chalobah are there so would not take too much from it. However, i am really hoping he isn't going back out on loan. The guy has done everything asked of him while on loans, and if he isn't with us next season then the spiel about José really being fond of him is absolute BS.

Rumours of interest from Norwich to take him on loan for the season.

Good chance that he would get plenty of minutes there, could be a good choice.

Above all else though we really need to get him to sign a new contract. I think he's in the last 12 months of his now.

Disappointing to see him go on loan again for yet another season if true.

He's never going to get the required game time with us when we have Costa and Remy... Let alone throwing Falcao into the mix too.

It would be naive to throw him in at the deep end, a years loan in the Premier League is what's needed as the next step in his development.

to norwich though? relegation fodder with no quality around him to provide him chances. i don't know, maybe norwich will be a good place for him to go, but a mid table team would be more ideal. one of the reasons harry kane did well last season was due to the quality around him to help him, but doesn't seem like bamford is getting the same opportunity when constantly loaned to championship quality sides.

Thing is Kane got his chance largely because of how inept Adebayor and Soldado were for Spurs.

Why would a mid table Premier League club take a punt on a young striker with no top level experience and throw him into their first team?

Realistically which club are we thinking will take that gamble? Those sides who finished mid table last season already have better strikers than Bamford.

A newly promoted side is the best bets of him getting regular football and hoping he pulls a Charlie Austin and shines in lesser side.

Seems to be one of those players who dont look the part but score wherever they play. Solanke will probably be our 4th option this season but I'd be greatly disappointed in Jose if he's not given a chance to make the squad next season regardless of how things go at Norwich. Bamfordinho is going to be very good

Boro fan in peace

Bamford was indeed injured at the end of the season, and the injury was made worse by Karanka's reliance on Bamford to get us back in the PL.

Reports on Comeonboro.com say that both Palace and Boro are after taking Bamford on loan this season, but this is not gospel.

Palace would be a better destination for the Bam as he's settled in landan.

When he was at Boro he lived in a place called Eaglescliffe, and my mates mam lived next door. She was doing his cleaning and washing. He told my friend that he wanted to return to CFC this season and try and get in the first team. You can't fault his enthusiasm.

On the plus side, he supplied me a signed mcc shirt for a macmillan cancer fundraiser i've organised and hosting. He took it to Wembley and got the lads to sign it.

Top lad and if he decides not to come back up north, i hope he does himself proud wherever he ends up.
