June 8, 20179 yr We probably won't get the full story regardless. What pisses me off is now we will get a cut price fee for Costa meaning Lukaku is going to cost more than double than what we get for in my eyes a better striker. Sod's law!
June 8, 20179 yr I appreciate all he's done for the club and all but I actually can't wait to be rid of him. His attitude and petulence is nothing short of embarrassing and it's making a joke of the club as well. I don't rate Lukaku as better than him, I'd rather we were going after Morata or Aubameyang but I'll take anyone over Costa right now. Good player with a woeful attitude and personality.
June 8, 20179 yr Costa price starting to drop, the moment he understand there was an interest from Chinese club. Almost everyone understand how much his form drops down and not give 100% for the team. And his wooden touches, poor technique as well as what person he is, doesn`t help the case and there won`t be much clubs, that wants him. If he was continued played like he did in the first half season, his price would be gone up, but his games after the winter, ofc. hes price is down a lot. It`s all Costa fault, and i dont know why some people are trying to make Costa a victim, where he is the villain in the story. No one is guilty, but Costa. He did all to himself. Everyone at the club and fans should want him far away from the club. I also won`t forget how he faked and injury in the back, to force a transfer in the Chinese club in the winter. Total disgrace. June 8, 20179 yr @Chelsbear I think he was going off my earlier post about Costa making himself the victim.
June 8, 20179 yr That's a steal for him tbh. If Lukaku is 80 odd then so should Costa be. We have no choice it seems though especially now clubs know he's adamant he's leaving. Little to no negotiation room. Still I suppose we haven't lost out on our initial investment.
June 8, 20179 yr Not quite, though agree not so much negotiating room. We could keep him on the books but out of training and the club yet there will always be a club that wants a top striker and so the price will fall but not too much, IMO.
June 8, 20179 yr I don't think we will get any less for him tbh. When you look at the teams we can sell him to, none would've paid anywhere near the £70m we wanted from china, whether the text comments had come out or not. Anything above £40m is fine, we aren't short of cash.

June 8, 20179 yr He is the same age as Higuain who Juventus bought for 90 million euros last season. You could argue Higuain is a better striker but I don't think there is that much between them. Edited June 8, 20179 yr by Sharpy
June 8, 20179 yr If someone had told me at the beginning of last season, that we would win the league AND get a £100M war chest from the sales of Costa and Oscar, well, I think I would have bitten your arm off for that outcome ... :) Batshuayi with a goal and half per 90 minutes of PL action, has showed what is possible for a forward in our team, surrounded by the players we have to carve out opportunities to score. I will go out on a limb and say that our main striker, assuming he plays every game, will get 30+ next season, because he will get in the box more, will show up for the whole season, and won't be as limited a footballer as Costa. June 8, 20179 yr if it was really over a response to dont be a fat c**t lay off the pies that set conte off it seems a bit hair trigger, I'll have to assume more to it than that. Also if costs goes for 40 and lukaku is 80, great deal for the suitor, a better striker for half the price, thats an expensive text message

Doesnt work quite like that, an impact sub is going to have better ratios, he is coming on when the team is throwing the kitchen sink, a regular striker might be defending half the game, the team may be in their own half for large periods of the game.

Conte let his player know, in a private conversation, that he was not part of the plan moving forward and that they were likely to sell him if possible. Direct, and honest...something most people would appreciate. Instead, Costa took it like a baby and aired it out publicly. by "him" I meant Costa. and yes, Conte only pointed that out in a private exchange, but that's not my point. my point was at the end of the day Chelsea Football Club (and Conte in an extent) was put in disadvantage because of this fiasco
June 8, 20179 yr Bearing in mind we don't know all the facts and quite probably we never will until the biography comes out...but maybe Conte needs to look at himself too over this...perhaps if he hadn't reacted so vociferously we may not have found ourselves in the compromised negotiating position we currently find ourselves in...just saying? June 8, 20179 yr always hard to know the truth of these stories but Costa wanting away has been a theme for most of the last year. I'll not be overly sorry to see him go, he's had some great moments and at times led the line well but there has always been something about him that's just not Chelsea. Maybe I just haven't got over Didier yet! Edited June 8, 20179 yr by carrickblue typo
June 8, 20179 yr This is a real mess now, Conte jogging him on by Text, and Costa going public, could cost us massively in this shakedown?, don't think the Don has come out of this intact!!
