Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Featured Replies

Exactly. Hes head was never in London, never in Chelsea. He doesn`t even bother to learn english. Most of the players learn a lot for a year, and Costa is with us for 3.

That`s tell you the whole story. I can`t even understand why some people are trying to defend him. He, not anyone else, only HE did all of this to himself.
I want that pr*** away from my club.

Who? Past couple pages are full of people calling him childish names and wanting him out. Unless you count the one post saying he is actually a good striker, which he is.

If you try to use sound logic in acknowledging how good he was for us previously then folk lose it on here.

Easier to just pretend he's been terrible from the get go I suppose

There was a post, who try to make it`s someone else guilty. For example Conte.

Costa was great for us, when he decided to play. When he decided to go to vacation, but still was on the pitch, we was with 10 men.

I'd love him to stay just for the state of the posts that would flood this thread.

The Lukaku thread will be just as fun if he does leave though.

Personally I'd love him and Conte to come out in the first presser of the season chuckling to them selves saying fooled you, as unlikely as it is.

Tbf if I were a footballer with the state of the current Journalistic landscape I'd be playing games with the media left, right and centre.

Must disagree with you about him being good striker has a piss poor attitude, slow, bad touch, rarely in the right place, doesn't know when to walk away from a situation always trying to act the 'hard' man admittedly he has that killer instinct needed but his all round game is bad in my opinion
20 plus goals in 2 out of 3 seasons and 2 league titles plus a league cup as the sole striker isn't bad for a terrible player with an all round bad game.

How many goals would Kane or Suarez have scored over those 3 years he's an ok goal scorer when he can be arsed but he's way to hot/cold and with conte we seem to have a genuine gent who has Chelsea in his heart so will back his decisions but I must say I've been praying for costa to be sold since January

The criticism of Costa is fair in some ways but learning the language is not something i will criticise him for. Some people just can't grasp a language. I have pretty much forgotten all of the French i was taught in school. Aguero has been here twice as long as Costa and he still can't grasp the language.

Bear in mind as well that Costa is already fluent in Spanish. English would be his third language, of all the criticisms aimed at Diego I find this one to be one of the most petty personally.

I replied because trying to back Costa for not speaking English and words getting lost in translation is petty. His been in England for 3 years and has he made any effort to learn the language? Like you I did French at school but learning this while with your mates which tbh most kids never really cared about compared to an adult who can get private tuition daily are very different circumstances. I don't think anyone gave a dam about learning French at my school.

Like I said not learning English still hasn't stopped him talking a lot about other clubs.

Just as a matter of interest, why should he learn English?  The vast majority of his team-mates don't have English as their first language, neither does most of the management staff or the board.

Why should Conte bother learning English then?

Is it right or literate to answer a question with a question?

I don't know, is it?

I will be glad when the whole Costa and Lukaku situations are clear, assuming it will save us all some time in at least one of relevant threads  Worst case scenario bickering-wise is, they're both in our squad next season :face_palm:

Apparently the club not happy with the way conte dealt with costa but will back manager to make a point to the players.

But #Chelsea are backing their manager over the player 100 per cent in a clear message to the squad that Antonio Conte is king. [Sun]

There were initial fears Antonio Conte would be dragged in for a meeting with owner Roman Abramovich and chairman Bruce Buck. [Sun]

Antonio Conte has accepted he overstepped the mark by breaking club protocol for handling Costa, who went public with the messages. [Sun]

the media are seriously reaching now. haven't they got some fawning over utd's signings to do rather than worry about what or wasn't said in a text msg.

Na arse sniffers always have to throw dirt in the other direction, part of the package

I hope it's true, because it's rather promising coming from a club that has historically backed its players over its managers.

Still expect him sacked before the new season is out and big settlements going to him and his staff, this is Chelsea after all and is common place for us.

Gutted he's off tbh. Great player, but never seemed to be fully settled here.

Cant really think of any strikers who would be good enough to replace him. Lukaku isn't as good, Lewandowski, Dybala, Griezmann etc won't be available.

Griezmann may be available but I can't see Chelsea going after his signature, it'll be Man Utd if anyone.
