Davey Baby: "Stevie G - I adore him, I want to bear his children"

Which is just what was said earlier - happy to be captain for England but not prepared to take the rough with the smooth and talk when things don't go well.  It was cowardly not to come out and speak to the press - as Gem said happy to take the glory but not the crap.  Dislike him.

Exactly, when you've been selected captain of your national side who flunk on the biggest stage you have to address the press and take the brunt of the abuse from the press (not that the media's darling would), unfortunately that's one of the jobs. JT would have done it and felt absolutely ashamed and devastated, shame, for England, the FA made a royal cock up. Their loss, our champion gain.

He's a c**t. I'd say i'll be glad when he f**ks off to USA, but I'm sure we'll be forced to listen to how he's getting on every week like we were with Beckham.

As a player he's good, but he represents everything we despise about scousers.

Today the footballer got a round of applause. Football fans at the end of the day appreciate good footballers I suppose.

Classy move.

Whinging about getting stick which is only abit of banter we don't sing about he's family we sing about what he's done or in this case what he hasn't done. He couldn't except that by us giving him a standing ovation we should class so he had to have a little dig at cfc

I have a football chat group and a few trying to wind me up posting a pic of JT slipping saying like he's the only one who ever slipped. I just said yeah but he put that ghost to bed unlike Stevie Me and posted a pic of the lads with the European Cup.

Can we all appreciate that a year ago today something happened that perfectly summed up Steven Gerrard (sorry Davey, you may want to look away now).Gerrard-kissing-camera-at-United1.jpgarticle-2620921-1D977F2B00000578-807_634

When it's all going well, he plays up to the camera, kissing it, doing his 'we go again, this does not slip now' speech, and he clearly letting the camera in to see his little talk after Man City. Could have perhaps waited to the dressing room... and whilst I understand emotions can take over but you need a level head when you're so close. Our players gave fist pumps in front of our fans after wins but there were no huddled circles, no show that we thought it was over, we, to borrow a phrase, went again.

That’s why I dislike him, it’s all about him until it goes wrong, if you play up to the camera when it’s good you have to let it in when its bad, that’s how it works.

I don't really agree with that Gem. He was happy when scoring at Old Trafford and kissing the camera...and p*ssed off when more-or-less conceding the title at Selhurst Park. To be expected, no?

As for today, I'm glad he got an ovation and I joined in. He has been a great player over the years for his home club. I'm not sure why he doesn't expect stick though. Look at the bile Liverpool reserve for Chelsea players and fans. Part and parcel of the game. It is nothing nasty either (in his case...just slipping and not winning the league).

What's this about him snubbing Rodgers hand shake when subbed today? What a tosser.

Rodgers touched him on the face and he snubbed him, looks really pissed off at him. He's such a petulant c**t, what annoys me is the media have bought into him so much it's like he's Saint Stevie. It's sickening.

could you ever imagine Anfield rising to their feet to applaud JTs last appearance? yet they were singing foul personal songs about JT today whereas a song about Gerrard slipping over last season isn't a personal attack

Im glad we applauded him off the pitch but his classless interview showed his true colours. Have you ever seen Gerrard win the league?

Come on mate. We've given him stick for ten years including 90 minutes today. Are we really expecting him to forget that and be grateful for 2 seconds of applause?

Spot on

We don't sing vile songs like they sing about our players families. We give him football banter. Not saying he had to thank us but he didn't have to have a sly dig at us by saying that the Chelsea fans turned up today. He's way of saying we don't usual sing. He was thankful for the Liverpool fans reception but surely they should be clapping their captain off. We didn't have to clap him off but we did. Can't see LFC fans clapping jt off he got booed playing a charity game at anfield

As Jose said afterwards, all the negative chants we give him are actually a backward compliment...better to be sung about than not at all...it's a rivalry between two clubs...he got the better of some duels over the years, we got better of more...but by being applauded off, it was chelsea fans putting everything aside to give him a warm send off...what he said afterwards was a very unclassy response from the captain of supposedly the most classy team in the world..if he didn't think it mattered, why say anything derogatory at all? certainly out of the two, I'd like to think he, rather than us chelsea fans today, came out of it looking the graceless one in the eyes of the judgemental media...but would t bet on it

And as for him claiming he's happy with what he's won with Liverpool rather than prospect of winning more if gone elsewhere, I call bullsh*t...think it's where a lot of his anger comes from...despite being crowned the chosen one by national media, he's won very little in his career...and he would have left bar the threats to him and his family

the look on his face during the guard of honour said it all. In 30 years time Gerrard will still be wondering why he never followed through with his transfer request to win titles at the bridge alongside Frank and Didier. I think his interview and his generally moody nature is a reflection of his frustration of having only 1 (maybe 2) realistic title challenge in his entire career which has mostly been spent mid table with average players including Babel, Ngog, Spearing, Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Andy Carrolll, Voronin, Dirk kuyt, Sinama pongolle, igor biscan, dossena etc...

oh well at least he will get one more famous European night at Anfield next week in the semi against Barca...

oh wait they were knocked out of their first CL campaign in 8 years with a group including ludogrets and Basel and were then knocked out of the Europa league by Besiktas
