Diego Costa Homesick - Marca

Featured Replies

''Diego Costa wants to come back to Atlético. He has not settled in London and does not rule out taking a drop in salary.''

''The problem is that he has not settled in London - the wet English climate, the language, the food.''

I believe Marca has no credibility unless they bring issues about FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

What do you guys think about this? It seems reasonable to me as he spent 8 years in Madrid since when he ways 17 years old.

Is this could be the reason why Chelsea is trying to sign Falcao and Griezmann?

Utter bullsh*t. Marca are ok with Real Madrid I think. If Costa is homesick, then he is one happy homesick guy in the parade pictures and during the parade.

I'd file under "not true"

Also reported in The Sun - so must be true :)

However I had heard somewhere before that he is not particularly settling in London. So there maybe be a small amount of truth in it. Don't think he will go this season though but you have to wonder if his long term motivation is good, if true that is

The market is starved of top strikers. I really worry how long costa's hamstrings will hold up. If they keep getting worse then we might have to sell him anyway.

The guardian are on it too.

Stranger things have happened, no point dismissing it out of hand just because it's a negative story. If he isn't happy in London then he isn't happy in London, there's f**k all we can do about it.

Doubt he'll go this summer, pretty certain he will be here for another season at least

Would just be our luck.

Finally have a strike who scores and he could want out already..

Don't worry though, we are turning to a 29 year old has been with a dodgy knee!

Fair enough, so what are the options?

Ignore the silly Costa rumour from Marca, manage his hamstring injuries as best we can.

Watch Diego fire us to a consecutive league title next season.

As I said on the Diego thread, the Marca story has no quotes, no sources or anything to substantiate it.  And every other report is a rehash of the Marca one.  So, why believe it?  I won't until there is some evidence.

I'm not surprised.

If he was homesick it wouldn't be Atletic who would bring him back in any case as it would take £40+ million.

Real or Barca (maybe Valencia) are the only ones who could afford him in Spain.

Don't have to necessarily believe it, but no point blindly dismissing it. There was an interesting section of Sunday supplement the other week where the journos were speaking about articles with no quotes, stating that they are often given stories from close associates, or from players themselves who WANT these things leaked, or even from agents.

Stranger things have happened. Plenty of players get homesick. I'm sure Chelsea can offer adequate concessions to ensure he gets the support he needs if indeed he is suffering a bit mentally from living in a city he's not happy in.

Can't see him going this summer, at all. But I wouldn't just say this story is bollocks purely because we don't like the sound of it.

If he wants to go, he wants to go. The club is bigger than any individual. Yes it would be f**king sh*t, but I'd rather have someone who is 100% focused than someone who has their head and heart elsewhere.

Is what it is.

Hopefully there is nothing in it, but given that he doesn't speak a word of English, it must be pretty f**king tough at times. The bloke is human.

I'm confident he'll be banging them in for us again next season. f**kin guv'nor

These days you wouldn't think it's much of an issue.

London to Spain is a few hours away so I'm sure he get's in plenty of time back home.

London is probably the best City to be in in terms of if you are missing your national cuisine.

Another thing is he has Oscar, Willian, Ramires, Luis, Azpi, Cesc and Tibo who either speak his language, play in the national team or are known to him form Atletico. Plenty of friends clearly.

It could well be true but even if it is we will no doubt help the lad to settle in more next season.

The machine is going nowhere!

Injured in Sydney, probably nothing major but I think he is a major fitness risk in terms of the demands for a long season including fa cup and champions league. Who will really be surprised if he misses more than half of next season?

Reminds me of the Drogba rumours years ago, every year they would say Drogba was looking to leave Chelsea and he never actually did.

Then there was the rumours of Hazard going to PSG at the end of last season and at the end of his first season with us.

It seems like the papers pick a big Chelsea player at the end of every season and say that player is going to leave.

Terry, Lampard, Cole, they are another 3 players that were rumoured to have wanted to leave us at one point. I remember all of the Lampard to Man United and Barcelona rumours over the years and Ashley Cole ALWAYS getting linked to Real Madrid.

Terry to City is one that sticks out to me
