Radamel "the project" Falcao

Featured Replies

Gut feel is we may see a slight improvement from last season but not the significant change it would need to be seeing the Falcao of old.

His stats for Atletico (70 in 90) and Porto (72 in 87) are just insane, and we have all seen what he is capable of when at his best, first hand. Its hard to believe that his stock has fallen so much that that we are 50/50 over his use as a third choice striker but the proof was in the pudding last season and I honestly thought he looked done.

As long as we keep Remy I am fine with this whilst not overly excited or optimistic. Hope to be pleasantly surprised of course...

What makes me slightly optimistic about this signing is that Mourinho really focuses on a players ability in training. Falcao has said he 'can't wait to train'. I'm sure if he impresses there, he'll get minutes, and hopefully score a bundle.

As for Remy, im with the majority that he should definitely be 2nd choice. Scores vital goals, i can see him playing more on the right this season if we don't bring in a major signing. Even if we do, i believe he'll play there ahead of Traore.

I am actually starting to look forward to seeing him play. When I first saw the rumours I am pretty sure i reacted like most chelsea fans 'Hell NO!' but then I suppose I started getting use to the rumours Watched a few old compilations and looked at the teams he thrived at, And I've swung completely into the other direction 'Form is temporary, class is permanent'.

But this is coming from someone who supported torres to the bitter end so I'm sure some if not a lot of you will think my point is not valid.

The problem with that is his form has been terrible for 16 months.

We kept saying the form is temporary thing about Torres till we were all blue in the face.

I hope to be shocked but prepared to be disappointed in Falcao, I've seen nothing in the past year in a half to convince me this can work.

Obviously having two class strikers ahead of him should see us fine.

I completely get where you are coming from and I personally don't want to see him start until the carling cup as this sends a bad message to Remy who deserves to be 2nd choice and a lot more game time to boot, I also think Remy should be consider in the inside forward role on the right to give a different dynamic to our play when its needed with the benefit of giving him more game time. But i just have a nagging optimism that Falcao can bag us some very important goals throughout the season the ones that win you championships the last minute goals in an otherwise 0-0er at stoke away.

Obviously I'm not expecting this as in all reality he is probably just going to sit on the bench all season and then f**k off back to Monaco to waste away the rest of his career, but i will always live in hope.

Apparently he's taken a £145k a week pay cut, from £285k to £140k. Nice that he agreed a massive pay cut for the chance to prove himself once more but it's still a lot of money, it's like what a starter gets.

Don't want him but time to get fully behind him now.

If he actually does end up getting somewhere near where he used to be, we'll have one of if not the best strikeforce in the world.

I'm just clinging to the fact that van Persie and di Maria looked largely useless last season playing in that United side and they're quality players.

It's a very Torres type excuse but maybe he wasn't playing in a system that played to his strengths. We might be able to play in a way that asks him to do less in the build up and just use intelligent movement to create space for himself that leads to clear cut chances.

That's what we were doing with Diego last season so maybe the pair of them can thrive.

He's here for the season so like we did with Sutton, Shevchenko, Kezman and Torres let's get behind him, give him our full support and cheer him everytime he pulls on the royal blue shirt.

fwiw, Van Persie is not what he was three four years ago.

for me, Falcao at this point is just the same level of Drogba.

I'm just not a fan when we consider that he's literally the only squad change we've made outside of the probable mikel leaving and cech already leaving.

Welcome to Chelsea Radamel!

I honestly wasn't in favour of signing him (albeit on loan) but he was a quality striker a few years back and if Jose believes he can recapture his golden form during his Porto and Atletico Madrid then I'll be right behind him 100% without question.

Falcao has had injuries that have hampered him and I always believed his move to AS Monaco was a bad one for his career but a great one financially speaking so this move is his last chance to really find form.

He has a season now to prove the doubters wrong and demonstrate that he's one of the most feared strikers on his day otherwise he's heading south just like Torres. If it works out then signing him permanently would be great for the club but if it doesn't we can move on and not have the baggage like we suffered under Torres for a few years.

There is atleast one obvious positive from this transfer.

Bamford and Solanke will know that the place is up for grabs in the squad next year. That would not be the case if we had got someone permanent like benteke for example.

At least Falcao won't have that much pressure since most people has written off his chances at Chelsea. I think it's  a 1 year stint regardless  what will happen, can't see us pay almost 30M to sign him up next season. The above post was right, if Bamford has a good season on loan, he will git in perfectly in 2016 as the third choice striker.
