Come to think of it, coming to England is indeed a new challenge for Guardiola. He's got to deal with the extra cup, no winter break, fixture congestion, English clubs getting shafted in Europe, tougher teams etc.

You could arguably say the Barca success could probably be down to the players more so than the manager, I mean Luis Enrique walked in and won the treble. Not the best argument as there have been a few changes but the general spine is still there. (also Messi) With Bayern well, he inherited Heynckes treble winning team.

This City team doesn't really have a winner's mentality, some players have poor discipline, some are just pure mercenaries, they only won titles when others cocked up, so there's work to be done.

For the first time he'll have a less than perfect team to work with so it'll be interesting to see how he gets on.

I wonder if this announcement might force United's arm into hiring Jose. There's no way they'll allow themselves to be second class to City. They will want a manager who can compete.

One things for certian, we need to get this next managerial appointment right otherwise we are going to be way behind City, United and Arsenal. There's along way to come back.

Stoke are buying Imbula for a 18m. Van Ginkel cant catch a break.

Also I wonder why we havent been in for him at that price

Because he is crap. Porto wanted rid. I can't believe we were linked to him.

Guardiola is overrated man. I mean anyone could manage that Barcelona side, all Guardiola had to do was pick up the cones after training. Luis Enrique done better than him playing more attractive and less boring possession based "sh*t sh*ta" football.

It will be interesting to see how pep does. I don't think any of city's centre midfielders are the type of playmaker he favours, so I guess that will be the main area he will look at.

It's not a forgone conclusion that he will be a success, but I think it will make it very hard for us to beat city to players, especially with no champions league to offer this summer.

I'm not sure where it leaves us managerial wise. We were never going to get guardiola anyway, but I also don't see us going for simeone, due to the stigma attached to his style of football.

We've had a very successful period and maybe we will go back to being alsorans while the club feels the impact of a new stadium.

I wouldn't be too disappointed if we were more like the late 90's team, very entertaining, good cup team, but maybe a little short to win the title. Maybe we should give ruud a call ;)

Interesting tines ahead.

so Saido Berahino is remaining at WBA, after all of that drama this kid had all year for playing with the baggies? I am sure this was the response Berahino got from the club when he turned in his transfer requests.

A United friend of mine was telling me earlier if Mourinho goes to United that rules out Chelsea winning the title next year at least, He said it would be between the two Manchester Clubs, I threw a curve ball at him and said not if Abramovich hires Pellegrini who has title winning pedigree and gives him Griezman and Aubamayang, But he said Chelsea fans wouldn't want Pellegrini as they don't like him in a sort of Benitez way, I didn't know it was that intense? Is Pellegrini rated that lowly by you or was he chatting bull crap, I do remember the Pellegrino references last year. :laugh2:

I'm not a fan of Pellegrini as a coach, but i don't have any personal problems with him. Benitez is totally different, he's not that great coach and he's a massive turd too, i can't stand the guy.

So yeah, i think your friend is talking a load of crap there.

The reason Benitez is so hated is because during our rivalry with Liverpool throughout 2003-2010 when we kept getting drawn together in the Champions League he made derogatory statements towards the club and once Chelsea manager he never apologised for them. The game which summed him up was the Suarez bite affair, in which he thanked the Liverpool fans for their reception yet failed to mention that one of their players had gotten away with committing assault and had scored about a minute and a half after an injury time of 6 minutes was up.

No, I disagree. Benitez was a hate figure at Chelsea for historical reasons. Personally, I think Pellegrini is a capable manager - not a massive fan of his but besides the little bit of edge provided by our recent title rivalry with City, I don't think Chelsea fans have an especially strong opinion on him either way.

So the big boys kept their money in their pocket this January, possibly because they're expecting managerial changes in the summer.

Meanwhile Newcastle of all clubs are one of the season's biggest spenders and Mark Hughes is starting to be an up market Big Sam by attracting top talents to a sh*t hole part of Britain to play for a mid table club but he's not signing them in their twilight years.

There weren't any vibrators last night for transfer deadline day but I've just seen a hilarious clip of an Italian journalist standing outside Stamford bridge reporting with some nutcase holding an inflatable banana, Poking it at the reporter during a live report then after about 20 seconds the reporter gets so wound up he takes it off him and hits the nutcase with the inflatable banana live on air.  :laugh2:

If someone better with technology could go onto the daily mail sports section and upload it onto here, Would be great, It's on the deadline day virals page.
