Best to sign targets early. We all know that. But at the moment we don't seem likely to sign any one capable of being a regular starter. I tend to wax and wane with every shift in the wind but at the moment I'm freely gloomy about improving he squad.

I'm starting to get worried as well. I've hardly seen any player rumours, and any tenuous links to top players (other than Falcao) have seemed to dried up -- even the annual 'Hulk to Chelsea' nonsense has disappeared. 

yes, but it's not too early to be disappointed that we're getting Falcao and selling Cech to Arsenal.

Jose did say at the end of the season he was going to strengthen the squad (i.e backup) which is a bit worrying because I feel we need to continue improving. There are 2 positions in our 1st 11 (RW & RB) IMO where I feel we can either do better or move people around. The players we have been linked and or loaned are a bit depressing, and I'd rather we didn't spent a decent amount on average players.

There are are also certain youth or players on loan that have been linked to mid/top European clubs I'd rather stick in the squad than spend £20m on average players, and also because we need to bolster our homegrown quota moving forward. Musonda has been linked to Marseille/Valencia/Roma, Christensen to Borussia Mon, and Pasalic to Monaco. Surely links to teams of this standard some of which will be playing in the CL/Europa is enough to stick them in the squad?

I think the club has been so badly burned buying right sided wingers that haven't worked out that they're maybe starting to second guess the transfer targets for this season.

The only team that's really come out of the blocks fast is the Scousers but only because the majority of their targets were free agents.

Okay they've signed the Brazilian fella now but that seems to be a replacement for Sterling. 

 

But looking at our title rivals, Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City they've not been active yet. 

 

United agreed the deal with Depay towards the end of last season but right now there's nothing but rumours about who they might sign. 

 

Arsenal are obviously close to signing Cech and when that happens it will prompt us into signing our back up replacement. Drogba's left and once Copa America is finished Falcao should be confirmed as his replacement. 

 

Not sure what's going on at City, they seem to be chasing Sterling pretty hard but not read much else going on... Could be they need to sort out whether Toure is going to join Inter Milan or not.

City seem to have all there hopes pinned on Sterling but I can see them making moves for at least one or two marquee signings later in the summer. Most teams go back for pure season in a few weeks so I'm guessing that's when we'll really starting seeing teams making moves.

Well yes because out of nowhere today they are reporting we are getting arda Turan and greizmen in a double whammy so I'm sure Jose is going to pull off something tasty very tasty

I'm slightly optimistic as I don't think anyone really anticipated Fabregas last season. It came out of no where.
