Actually it was in the January that ge said to people they would see in the Summer why we hadn't signed a striker. I have no doubt that deal was practically done already sane as the Cesc deal.

It was said he stopped costa signing for Liverpool in summer 2013, I agree the costa deal would have been earmarked in january, as costa was on fire in the first half of the Spanish season.

Not going to lie - I am really excited about this transfer. He's exactly what we need - direct, pacey, creative, hardworking. I was getting really envious of United, but I am much more optimistic about our season now.

Didn't Costa say in his book that Jose had asked Atletico to reject Liverpool's £25m offer as we'd offer them £32m the following summer?

Not to be a Debbie downer because I was such a proponent for him and I think he will do wonders for us but, I just read he is 5'5, he looks quite slight as well, will this be a problem in the BPL?

The problem with that is that no one, other than Oscar and Begovic, have really played anywhere near their best form in the two (three if you count the Community Shield as worth anything) games we've seen so far.

 

No one else in the squad can do what Fabregas can do in terms of dictating the tempo in the middle of the park, as well as making incisive passes forward to create chances for our front four. Fabregas, despite having not performed the role particularly well himself so far, is at least capable of it, and it's a role we need if we're to bring the best out of our attack.

 

Before we signed Fabregas, our lack of creativity from midfield as well as our midfield's decision-making on the ball and quality of passing (Mikel being too conservative, Ramires being too inconsistent, and Luiz being almost Gerrard-esque) was a huge and long-standing problem, and one we still don't have another solution to other than Fabregas. Despite issues with his ability off the ball, we won't get back to our best without him in the first team.

 

Ploks, the problem with the above is that at the moment not even Fabregas is capable of what your describing. Oscar or Willian couldn't possible be worse in the position and starting a few games on the bench might have a good mental effect on Fabregas, he has to feel that his place is not guaranteed he has to deliver the goods. I'm not talking about a long term switch, just a few games.

This is the kind of player we need. Experienced and can score goals.

Now I hope we get stones in defense and possibly another CM.

In truth I wanted Isco/Depay before Pedro - but he is a fantastic signing and just the kind of player we needed!! Can't wait to watch him play.

In terms of getting on the end of crosses he'll be next to useless as a second striker (i.e if compared to Andre Ayew at Swansea), but he's used to playing in front of parked buses so I'd hope to see him make direct runs in the same way Schurrle would for us. He can also play left wing?

I know this is a little off topic but if Utd buy Mane. What is considered a 'good' deal?

 

He was bought for 11.8million so Southampton have got to be asking for at least 16? 

 

My point is (what we all know) Utd are really, REALLY bad at getting deals finalised.
