John Stones

Monaco, also made it to the final once.. Some times it just opens up.

Juve were a decent team last year but I still consider the league to be sh*t

I'm just saying to dismiss players from a clearly talented Juventus side is moronic.

The likes of Tevez, Pirlo, Pogba and Vidal have delivered in domestic, European and International competition. Clearly they're very good players... I don't doubt that Vidal will be a success for Bayern and I don't doubt Pogba will be a success wherever he ends up too.

Lukaku says

"When you go to Chelsea at a young age it's up to you if you want to survive. Do you really want to fight for your place? You get maybe one or two chances, and if you take them you will continue getting them. [...] It's really up to you as a player."

"I made a decision to leave because in my mind, I thought: I am 21. What's going to happen now? I could easily have stayed at Chelsea to fight for my place. But you never know. I didn't know what the manager's ideas were with me. I didn't know what the club's plan was with me at the time."

Aaaand thank for validating your transfer. Heres hoping Stones has larger plans for his career.

He told British newspapers: "When a player has a long-term contract, those things don't change at all.

"I think the situation has gone too far for any action to change it.

"If someone comes in from nowhere and puts in a transfer request, that is a different situation. In a saga that has been going on for I don't know how many weeks now, we are very clear."

So Martinez is saying they'd sell to anyone but us.

And he lives up to his surname unlike the bottle job Lukaku.

Learning from jagielka to do what? If anything will make him hand in a transfer that will.

So international experience then? Its been established here that the Italian league is a joke.

Cant believe Im now defending spending ridiculous money on Stones but he plays a position we need, hes young, he has PL experience, and if things go well he'll be the best CB in the league. If thats not worth 40m then Pogba isnt worth double either.

Not sure he will ever be the best CB in the league, Zouma is currently a better player and is younger and tbh Eric Dier is on a similar level to Stones but doesn't make near as many mistakes which Stones is very prone too so wheres all the Dier hype.

Stones at the moment is being inflated in quality and price by all the hype surrounding him yes he will be a good BPL CB and has the potential to be great but will he ever be a Terry very unlikely and I'm also pretty sure other players of Stones quality will come along in the next couple of years, heck I rekon Gallaway will be the next Stones as young Everton players seem to get overhyped very quickly, Rodwell and Barkley are prime examples.

Stones will be here for a decade once he signs which makes the crazy amount of money a sound investment as long as he doesn't stagnate here. It would be excellent to have him beside Terry for a season but I said the same about Zouma and he just isn't getting that opportunity unfortunately.

Stones is more than just 'Hype', He's had two good seasons for pete sake.

I wouldn't say he has had 2 'good' seasons, hes had two seasons in the premier league which is good experience and yes you can see there is a lot of potential there but I wouldn't want him in the Chelsea side at the minute he would cost us a lot of goals and even points over the season and that's compared to Cahill who I think needs benching for Zouma, people and pundits are currently glossing over the mistakes he makes as he is young but that doesn't mean he doesn't cost a goal or two, he could be great if he can get the mental side of the game right which Terry will surely help with but to me Stones looks like a Gary Cahil 2.0 and we all know that Gary is still lacking a bit of mental discipline.

Is £35m a good deal for 10 years of a Gary Cahill quality player? It certainly is if he reaches the max of his perceived potential but in my eyes he is more likely to be a Cahill than a Terry.

As an extra side note Gary Cahill looked great at a team like Bolton head and Shoulders above the rest but mediocre in the Chelsea side, he is still a very good CB but its just a different level of football and expectation.

If Stones hands in a Tr and pushes hard to move, theyll sell.  Why keep someone who has just told you he wants to leave for another club and doesnt want to play for you anymore?  It's PR statement incase they sell and can use the "we had no choice, the player made himself clear" rubbish.

The irony of Lukaku's article is he is more or less confirming he didnt want to fight for a place.  Good attitude Rom!  Thanks for £28m

Spot on.

Like I said eariler, not even Levy would ask for £35m-£40m for Dier and he's the exact same player as Stones.

i think laporte's buy out clause is 50 million euros. why are we f**king about with stones? it's about time we move on because everton clearly don't want to sell and stones isn't making noise either.

Because of the homegrown status.

We're pretty overstocked on foreign places already and there's talk from the FA about wanting to expand the number of homegrown players teams have to have in their squads.

It's all well and good every one listing off these foreign alternatives but there's a good reason why we're pressing for an English centre back to be JT's long term successor.

How can he be the exact same player?

If you mean similar type, well, Carragher was a similar type to Terry, didn't make him the exact same player.

Stones is a ball playing CB... if Dier tried some of the things Stones does to get himself out of trouble/work angles/create space then sorry but he'd end up looking like a mug.

Obviously not literally the same player but as in a ball playing CB of the same ability.

Not sure which Dier you are talking about but the one who plays for Spurs is also a ball playing CB that has already done those things you mention and succeeded.
