December 14, 201510 yr Really f**king tired of playing the same few teams once we reach the knockout stages.
December 14, 201510 yr So are we mate! We win the group each year and end up with f**king PSG! When was the last time we got a 'smaller' team in the last 16? No disrespect to Gent or PSV but I'd much rather play them. It's just our luck this season mate. We have had decent draws in the past (bar last season). City have been handed tough draws every single season they have been in it, even their group was a tough one to get through so tbh they deserve a bit of luck this time out. As for PSG well they are not the best in the competition, the likes of Bayern, Real and Barca are a level above them so really if we are to go far we will have to beat someone of PSG's standing sooner or later. This time the pressure is on them as they are the clear favourites and coasting their league, we on the other hand are in free fall and fighting relegation so no one will give us a hope. I'm intrigued to see how PSG handle being expected to get past us instead of the other way round. It's a hard draw but if we are going to go out we might as well do it sooner rather than later if we cant beat a PSG quality side. Might improve our league position.
December 14, 201510 yr At least the banter* with their Twitter account is light-hearted. *I hate that word.
December 14, 201510 yr Bring it on I say! PSG got us last season but we'll get revenge this time! Full Draw: Gent v Wolfsburg Roma v Real Madrid Paris St-Germain v Chelsea Arsenal v Barcelona Juventus v Bayern Munich PSV Eindhoven v Atletico Madrid Benfica v Zenit St Petersburg Dynamo Kiev v Manchester City
December 14, 201510 yr To be fair to City thy won there group and got a good draw. In previous seasons they have finished second and got some hard ties. I am actually glad we got PSG and I think we'll beat them. Edited December 14, 201510 yr by Bobbywoodhogan
December 14, 201510 yr What I will say is Arsenal might just be favs to win the title because the lack of midweek games after Barca.
December 14, 201510 yr All aboard Oh god you're right, we can expect a rehash of last time's media frenzy about the tube incident.
December 14, 201510 yr Oh god you're right, we can expect a rehash of last time's media frenzy about the tube incident. I'm actually more worried about the terrorism issues of late. Hope both clubs work together to ensure our fans safety.
December 14, 201510 yr What I will say is Arsenal might just be favs to win the title because the lack of midweek games after Barca. Can you not upset me after my initial reaction of glee please? Dammit, reality check :( want them to progress now.
December 14, 201510 yr Inevitable and rather disappointing...bored of PSG, the man citeh of France...plus behaviour of fans on the train will dominate the build-up...that bloke, as harsh as he was treated at the time, will try and milk another five minutes out of it Edited December 14, 201510 yr by The Brit
December 14, 201510 yr What I will say is Arsenal might just be favs to win the title because the lack of midweek games after Barca. Do. Not. Even. Mention. The. Possibility. Please.
December 14, 201510 yr Do. Not. Even. Mention. The. Possibility. Please. Ha I know. It's a hideous thought.
December 14, 201510 yr Just for the sake of a change, I would have like a different tie, but the joy of beating Zlatan never passes. I desperately hate that guy ;), so bring it on. No easy games at this point ... so best just to get on with it.
December 14, 201510 yr I'm actually more worried about the terrorism issues of late. Hope both clubs work together to ensure our fans safety. Terrorism Schmerrorism. You have a point of course, but safety issues will play a part all over Europe unfortunately, not only in Paris and London.
December 14, 201510 yr Oh indeed, don't get me started on the Gunners. I don't know what is more annoying ... us languishing close to the relegation zone or Arsenal taking full advantage of the weirdest PL ever. Sorry for thread high-jack ... just needed to say that :).
December 14, 201510 yr Terrorism Schmerrorism. You have a point of course, but safety issues will play a part all over Europe unfortunately, not only in Paris and London. Indeed. I'm sure everything will be fine. Let's just hope the media don't try to make the same mess of it as they did last season.
December 14, 201510 yr Phew.... Avoided Gent! Back to seriousness, 4 of those look like Quarter final ties: PSG v Chelsea Roma v Real Madrid Arsenal v Barcelona Bayern v Juventus The rest look closer to last 16 ties or Europa Cup draws. Chelsea are real underdogs this season and it might contribute to some surprisingly good results in Europe this year. Bring em on.
December 14, 201510 yr Avoid being dragged into relegation ..a must......the next round of the Champions League...a nice to have.....right now the domestic front needs sorting out more than our European campaign. Arsenal will beat Barca if they can keep a clean sheet at Emirates and go there will at least a two goal lead. Cech will do the business for them. This is the only time Arsenal have had a decent keeper in the more recent years. Mind you I think Neymar and Co will have a whale of a time against the Arsenal back four and tear them to shreds, something Barca weren't able to do against a resolute Chelsea defence.
December 14, 201510 yr I think we are going against them at an even stage. We have been strong in Europe this season. We just need Costa and Hazard at their best.
December 14, 201510 yr Another thing is PSG are 17 points clear in their league and it as as good as over and might actually be before the game takes place tbh. They can afford to rest their players while we have to play our strongest team every game from now till the end of the season.
