December 10, 201510 yr Gent would be excellent. Although, their stadium only holds 20,000 so presumably we'd only get an allocation of around 2,000?
December 10, 201510 yr I hope we get Juve, and then we can force them to play our loanee Juan Cuadrado against us, to ensure that we have a man advantage in both legs. That seems fair, doesn't it?
December 10, 201510 yr I was wondering that as well - presumably to do with scheduling or something, which is why I assume us and Arsenal seem to have the most skewed odds (i.e. because we have so many clubs in our city). Also we owe Juve a battering for basically being responsible for us ultimately hiring Benitez. I cant work out why we have 0.11% more of a chance of playing Juventus than Gent ?
December 10, 201510 yr I cant work out why we have 0.11% more of a chance of playing Juventus than Gent ? Don't they just pull the dam thing out of a hat? This percentage breakdown has me rattled
December 10, 201510 yr I cant work out why we have 0.11% more of a chance of playing Juventus than Gent ? Probably because Gent has a higher probability of playing against City so that dampens their chances of playing against us a bit.
December 10, 201510 yr Yeah, the minor fluctuations are the most baffling. The general odds based on how many teams they are allowed to be drawn against (i.e. Arsenal's are high because they can't be drawn against either of the two English sides who won their groups or Bayern who were in their own groups) is fairly straightforward. It must be what Uxanga said, an overall combination of the permutations based on the number of teams each team can be drawn against. Also, apparently UEFA have decided that Dynamo Kiev and Zenit can't be drawn against each other due to security concerns.
December 10, 201510 yr Ok I made a big list, drew out a load of fractions and wrote the word 'permutations' repeatedly but still managed to wrongly conclude that Zenit vs. Arsenal had a 21.67% chance of occurring. Is anyone here better at probabilities or maths in general?
December 10, 201510 yr I'm not bothered by who we match up with for the last 16 because if we want to win this tournament we'll have to face the best sides regardless of whether that's earlier in the knockout stages or in the latter stages. Bring it on I say!
December 10, 201510 yr I don't want to play PSG again. It'll mean we have to deal with the twitter 'banter' they put up again. Beyond cringe-worthy. Juventus are a struggling defending champion team like us. I wouldn't mind playing them. The teams I'd really like are PSV, Gent or Roma. Something a bit different, and we can definitely be considered favourites for all of those.
December 10, 201510 yr honestly i don't mind juve, i mean cuadrado versus ivanovic holy smokes but have a funny feeling it's going to be either benfica or roma Edited December 10, 201510 yr by havelschayes
December 10, 201510 yr Most probably Juventus, then Gent for us. After that come the other clubs with equal chances. "NERDS!!!!!!!"
December 10, 201510 yr Not PSG. If history repeats I'll end up encountering some jumped-up, workshy, soap-dodging keyboard warrior trying to get UEFA to put the skids on my next rail holiday.

The train incident last season with our fans and their fans abusing our disabled fans the season before......it's built up a lot of bad blood between the 2 sides.
December 10, 201510 yr When are the games actually played anyone know? i know its in Feb just not sure when exactly.
December 10, 201510 yr When are the games actually played anyone know? i know its in Feb just not sure when exactly. I think it depends on the draw as they are played over a few weeks. http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/season=2016/competitionformat/

December 11, 201510 yr Id love PSG. We have to get our revenge from last year. As someone said earlier, if we cant beat em now, then whats the point of losing to them in the semis etc
December 11, 201510 yr Matches against the big teams depend on fine details. You want the easiest route to the final possible where anything can happen. Playing psg early only decreases the chances of us winning the thing.
