Do you seriously believe Jose wanted Hector and Djibridido?

If so I find that baffling.

Of course he didnt. Lets not pretend they were marquee signings though, they were cheap players we might make profits on down the line. Mourinho wanted Stones but that wasnt possible. I imagine Emanalo would have gotten all kinds of stick if we ended up paying almost 50 million for him

Not really, no I don't. As others have said, some signings seem to be literally "well, they may come good but if not we can look to make a profit" A kinda Cheslea version of good old Harry Redknapp wheeling & dealing.

I honestly thought when Jose returned, he would be in charge and we would see an end to dodgy transfers and would be run like a well oiled machine and it is still hard to get my head around how it all went so badly wrong. Not just signings (or lack of) but the badly organised end of season / pre season that got us off to such a bad start this season. I can't understand how Jose let it happen.

The pre season is bizarre but the club itself organise it not the manager. These things are planned well in advance and I have no idea why we let it happen.

Jose of course should have said something or kicked up a fuss...maybe he did, maybe he didn't? we will no doubt never know.

Let me ask this question.

Who signed Pato up ?

Guus ?

If not who takes the blame if Pato becomes yet another dudd transfer ?

That is a signing made over Guus's head. He's even come out against it.

I'm glad we're not in for Simeone anymore and Roman has ruled him out because of his style. Hopefully Jose will be the last manager we have that has a conflicting view of how to play football. That was the root of the problem, Jose wants one set of players and the people over his head wanted another. Everyone needs to be on the same page for the director model to work. This is how American sports teams do it. The General Manager is the one who dictates everything. Essentially the onus has shifted from the manager to the director. If we don't find success in the next couple of years the blame lies squarely at Emenalo's feet.

Sorry mate but is an interim manager expected to make signings? Pato's deal is temporary and low cost which I see no fault in. This moment last year, we had signed Cuadrado permanently!.

To quote jose:

"We made a decision that we thought was the right decision," he said. "We chose to give the players a proper holiday and to give the players one month's holiday.

"I thought we could win against Swansea, when we decided on that kind of pre-season, but the circumstances of the match took it in another direction which wasn't easy for us to win.

"Last year we started early, and played in a lot of matches before the start of the season, and we had a fantastic start. We paid for that quick start and that fast pre-season in the end of the season.

"We were tired. The team had problems, the team was tired.

"This season we tried to go in another direction with a slower start, a short pre-season, only three matches before the Community Shield and only four matches before the beginning of the Premier League season.

"Clearly we know what we are doing but clearly some bodies didn't react as well as we expected."

I.E. It was his call.

The next 3 months will tell if Jose was right. If we're still playing with a lot of energy come April I think the club will be justified. I don't think our results in the first half of the season were down to conditioning, the players just didn't want to carry on with Jose anymore. If we're not playing tired football in a couple of months we're on to something.

Ive thought the reason behind the change in pre-season was the last 3 months of last season which saw the team tire massively. I wondered if the plan was to reverse last season basically, get through the first 4/5 months then hit peak fitness for the run in of the premier league and Champions league.

I think that was exactly his reasoning, dkw. he obviously felt that if we could get by and stay in touch in the title race until around now we could then attack the champions league much more strongly at the same time.

in hindsight the answer might have been to rotate a bit more throughout the season. people like luis, remy, mikel, cuadrado / schurrle and perhaps one or two of the youngsters could've been used to spread the workload.

does he speak english/spanish?

i remember him doing post match interview in english, pretty fluent

fast direct attacking football, rebuilt juve into a powerhouse they are right now with excellent signings like pogba vidal tevez pirlo

wouldnt mind him at all
