Stick with Guus, he has done nothing wrong. Give him a 2 year permanent contract. With Didier Drogba to come in and be an assistant along with Steve Holland.

Guus is calm and doing a good job.....slowly but surely improving results. If it ain't broke, it don't need fixing !

How many times must he say he doesnt plan on staying longer than this season

It's only guesswork, any of us could create such a list. Truth is no one knows the intentions of the CFC board. And that includes the board probably. The list in the papers will change dynamically to always include the current flavour of the months.

It rather looks as if Jose used to be special, but then started to believe his own hype. If Guus won't stay, give it to the tea lady or some other low profile candidate.

I agree with the comments of needing a calmer manager going forward.

I wanted Klopp but that ship has sailed. Best option would be someone with EPL experience like Koeman or Hughes. Not the wow names that most are after but good managers nonetheless.

Conte, Allegeri would probably do well (not that I'm overly familiar with them) but considering we'll most likely not be in Europe next season means the selection of willing managers is smaller then previous years.

Defo no to Pellegrino as I don't really rate him and no to Brenda because he's burnt his bridges with us during his time at Pool

I was listening to the press pass on Talksport and they have an interesting assessment of the options out there and the type of manager Chelsea want.

They basically said that Chelsea are believed to want a calmer manager after Jose - not a combative, controversial manager.

They said Simone and Allegri, whilst good managers, might too controversial for the club. They seemed to think Conte had a good chance and also said Mark Hughes could be in the running and has been close to getting the job a few times. Conte, Pellers and Hughes all have a good chance.

Personally I can see us going for Conte rather than Hughes. Roman likes a foreign manager. Time will tell but I can understand why they would want a calmer manager after Jose.

I would love to hear the reasoning for labelling Allegri as "too controversial" ?

good manager. chelsea supporter. could be interesting. I suspect if it is through fifield it may be the club testing the waters with the fanbase through some briefing.

clearly he'd not be a first choice for the club, and that in itself could be problematic- look at the difference between how long the board gave robbie and how long they gave jose when things started to go bad. if they don't truly have faith in the appointment then whoever becomes manager will be in a very difficult situation.

I think he deserves to be a candidate, and I'd take him over allegri at any rate.

telegraph add ranieri and eddie howe to the list. both of those seem less likely to me.

I wouldn't mind Sparky but the lack of silverware on his CV concerns me. I don't want another Ranieri. I don't know about Conte but he's won seria A 3 times right?

They were the Chelsea board are keen to see a calmer club after Jose and don't want someone who argues with refs, causing controversy etc. Both Simone and Allegri are seen as this.

Kinda makes sense.

Guus gets results by seeming to do nothing much, and that is the type of hands off manager the modern game demands. Fergie and LVG (and probably JM) are now seen as dinosaurs. Ironic that Ranieri, the guy who came to work on the tube, is now heading for at least top 4 with a bargain basement squad. Messiahs are just so last season!

Sparky ticks so many boxes, you cannot count him out because he's won no silverware as a manager, not many have.

Let's face it, the managerial job at Chelsea is a joke, any new manager knows they will probably have hardly any control over incoming/outgoing players, they will probably have less than 3 seasons in the job, they will have to put up with some petulant high profile players who can turn on you in the blink of an eye.

The only thing going for it is the money £££.

In - ££ snatch money ££ - out

I think you are bang on, the players have too much power and money now. The days of barking at players is all but over, they are too soft now.

Its all about hugs and massaging egos.
