Chile national coach has left his job.....hmm.....

Makes a lot of sense for him. He's never going to be more in demand than he is at the moment, especially with 3 top premier league clubs sniffing around for someone to bring in the summer.

But does it make sense for us?

The guy is 55 and hasn't managed or won anything outside of South America. We're really desperate if we are handing the keys to the car over to this guy. If we're going down the unproven route, I'd much rather take a chance on Eddie Howe

Personally i would love to have jogge low manage us bring in a few decent kraut players & get rid of some of the sh#te playing for us now...

Those 2 look about 13 years old.

Bloke on the right has the same FP shirt as me. The bar steward

What has Lowe been up to?  I mentioned in another thread how I feel we'll go back to a National team coach...becasue you know, cycles and all that (plus Big Phil, what a man!)

I like Lowe, had a good demeanour, seemd to get a lot out of his teams...so you never know.  Personally, I'm not sure on another International team coach, and I think we'll go all out for Simeone.

I would like to see our next manager to be someone who has experience of having played in the Premier league and the Champions League and with a past good connection to our club. I can always dream !

Also I want to see a complete radical change in the direction of how our club is being run with regard to the quality of players that We are recruiting and greatly reduce the number of players we have out on loan. With a massive push to get our home grown youth players into the 1st team.

At the moment, we are in a complete mess to put in mildly, thetfore I can't see any top manager wanting to commit themselves to joining us until they know where we are likely gonna be finishing come the end of season (league position) - we should have some idea by the end of March.

Sorry for stating the bleeding obvious, it will be very difficult to attract someone of high top notch stature such as Peo or the Argie Bargie of A Madrid, Diego and or those big names etc, as sadly we seem to blown our chances of qualifying for the CL next season.

I hope that I am wrong about the CL, and we do our backs to the wall fight and some how win the CL this year, same scenario as 2012, including facilitating Tottenham to miss out again! - then the world and his wife will be queuing up to join us ! LoL

Lowe is not someone I thought of, a great coach who plays very strong powerful football. Would be like the Chelsea of old.

I still think we will appoint a lightweight coach like Conte or that Chilean to use the players we already have.

I just hope it won't be a Chelsea legend, he will be sacked in about 2 years anyway. One heartbreak with Robbie was quite enough.

Good to see you can predict the future.

Well to be fair it's not really hard to predict as we as a club seem to be going full circle with managers.

Jose hired - Won titles and cups.

Jose sacked 2 seasons later after bad start.

Grant interim before sacking.

Scolari hired

Scoari sacked poor after poor start

Hiddink interim - won Cup then left

Ancelotti hired - won title and cups

Ancelotti sacked after no title

AVB hired

Avb sacked same season

Robbie interim - Won CL

Robbie sacked next season

Fat boy interim then left - Won EL

Jose back - Won title and cup

Jose sacked the next season due to poor start

Hiddink interim ......

There has been that much change I'm not even sure the above is 100% correct. One thing is for certain IMO though...no manager will last more than 1-2 seasons here

I think it's pretty spot on although grant wasn't an interim. Shockingly he was given the job on a permanent basis.

I'm not saying he deserved to stay, but he was sacked 6 months into a 4 year contract, despite finishing second and losing on pens in the champions league final.

Whoever comes in won't be here long. I think it's time for roman to take a step back and think what he actually wants to do with club moving forward. If it's a certain style he wants to see, then bring in a manager that plays that style, and back him in the market. If he wants to see the academy boys come through, bring in a manager that is comfortable doing that, and lower the expectations, because it will take a couple of seasons to see improvement. He wants to win at all costs, he should ve kept Mourinho and backed him properly in the summer.

Still law of averages is unreliable. Because past managers average 1-2yrs doesn't mean the next is same.

It's not a stick of course on but if I had to put money on it I know which side I'd be leaning towards.

IMO.....l.l if Guus does well i.e keeps us in the premier league and wins a cup, then the 1st phase of the long term plan will be .....Roman persuades Guus to stay a couple more years by giving him a permanent contract and also.with a caveat to say that .....Didier Drogba will be appointed as his assistant coach ( date to be agreed to coincide with the lapse of his contract be it in December or whenever it can be done by with Montreal Impact )

Didier will be mentored by Guus to eventually succeed him as manager in due course.

The 2nd phase of the long term plan will also comprise ......Frank Lampard to come in as Technical football Director ( when he retires from playing ) and Frank will replace Emanalo.

JT will be offered an assistant coaching role in the club.

Fingers crossed !

I'm going to the Bookies to get the best odds !

We did not have a manager who started a 5th season since Dave Sexton (that's more than 41 years) and we had only two managers since then who finished 4 full seasons. If you believe that's likely to change then you are fooling yourself.

Ever heard of the words 'History in the making'. Utd never had any manager who stayed as long as SAF before him, most too would have said no one would out stay Busby et al but he did. It starts somewhere mate...
