If we can get any money for him now we will have done well. He is now in a position of power, doesn't need to move in January. He can freely negotiate a transfer to a foreign club that includes a nice signing on bonus, a large wage as no transfer fee is due. We have to pay him out the remainder of his contract till June 30.

Yeah we aren’t getting any penny for both players come Jan. Not remotely worried as there are loads of players we can buy to fit the system, we just have to open our wallet. it’s just frustrating to see them move on a freebie.

Have to find ourselves a nice freebie too.

Can’t players only speak with foreign clubs in January? I’m sure football manager has taught me they have to wait until the last few weeks to speak to English clubs. Has this changed and I’m wrong? I know that won’t stop their agents doing dodgy deals mind!

You're correct. Doesn't stop agents though finding out what deals are available. For my money he will end up at Barcelona if he moves, though not sure they could match our financial package. Bayern and Juve like a freebie too.

He was happy in Germany. I think he goes to Bayern.

Depends on the need of the club, if they are in need come Jan and we can get 10mill to go towards our rumored Hungarian CB why not? Especially if we are freezing him out.

no chance mate, his value is in him being free. A position that he can negotiate a far better deal than if a fee was involved.

Fair point. Wonder if his position remains strong if he is dropped in the reserves.

Media are coming out on ACs side and blasting TT for his handling of it:

AC wants a far bigger offer than 140k a week, seems like he is moving to Rudiger levels of demands.

It is plain simple . Pay the man his worth . its not like he is asking for Rudiger type numbers. If we don't pay him what he feels he is worth then another team will plain and simple. Tuchel really lost my respect for his handling of the situation but then again he might just be following orders from above. All in all we shot ourselves in the foot by not renewing their contracts earlier.

P.S Jorginho is going to be in the same boat next season , hopefully we tie him down this season because his agent strikes me as a  Mino Raiola disciple .

Jorgi is different though. His agent has been talking of a desire to return to Italy since he arrived basically. Think Jorgi wants to end up back there.

Far as AC goes it sounds to me like the club are trying to control the wage bill better, and I applauded them for that.

I would guess that the club know that he has already been tapped up by an agent on behalf of an 'unmentioned club'.  The stance they are taking is proportionate. The whole mess along with Rudiger and to a lesser extent Azpi  could see us change our strategy  on how we negotiate contracts with two years left on a contract. As it is there have been quite a few big name players who have been content to run their contracts down, this could have an adverse effect on transfer fees which would take a few years to stabilise the market.

The Voyeur said a few years ago that we would get to the stage when more and more players would start running down their contracts. Certainly seeing it here.

I dont hold it against either of them. We were happy to sign them to a long term contract, and they have honored that. If they can go and get £50k per week more (including likely tax benefits) then fair play. If we dont want that happening, then we should get our house in order and start putting in club only optional extensions. We had that for Giroud, and Utd have those types of clauses regularly.

The other option is to give Kepa esque longer term contracts.

The Voyeur . lol... Jose Mourinho was so brutal back in the day

Interesting that most people in charge now are coaches and not Managers, so don’t get involved in contracts and wages.
This looks as though the club have got TT to mention this as he is the only one to talk to the Media.

12 months ago he was sh1t, a lot of us disappointed we kept him instead of Timori. There was no urgency to renew his contract then, at that stage he'd probably accepted a lot less. New manager in, his form picked up and his agent been playing hardball ever since, can't see the club has done much wrong. I think  a compromise will be reached, but certainly the club doesn't want act that desperate by giving his agent whatever he demands. Unfortunately with the injuries and heavy schedules, he will play, so the benching him for the contract signing thing wont last.

With Chalobah injured we will need him even more. Hope this gets resolved sooner rather than later. Was surprised to see TT's comments though - clearly a plug in by the club. In most of his press cons he has maintained he doesnt get involved in contract talks. It seems a little unfair to me to put the player in a spot.

Thought he was the weakest link in the defence against West ham. Bowens shot went through his legs. Looked a downgrade on Trev.

Think while trev is out we best us Dave at RCB and have AC give Silva a breather when needed. Think the contract situation has got in ACs head and he does not look the same player he was before the last international break. Maybe cause he is on the way out?

Both AC and Rudi are slowly slipping back into old habits. No doubt down to focusing on contracts rather than being 100% focused on the games

Maybe Tuchel had a point when he said Christesen was benched because of his refusal contract renewal, maybe he's unsettled and by his performance yesterday it could be true. You only need 5% off on the day to concede a goal, unfortunately yesterday few of them were 10% off, and Mend was 30% off.

I noticed that as well past few games as well. Was a concern I had coming in to the season. They will undermine TT if they carry on this way.

I have seen articles popping up as to how Frank Lampard is to blame that we are in this contract stand off with both AC and Rudiger, as he sidelined them and had them looking at other solutions.

For sure had Lamps stuck around they likely would have been sold, but if anything the whole issue over the contracts being offered to them not being enough is down to the success they have found under TT.

I don't think they would be looking at 200k a week plus deals from Real or PSG if they were going to them as Chelsea reserves rather than first team CL winners. In this case think we are victims of our own success. TT has made them both look better than they were before hand and, fair play to them, they are leveraging it for all it is worth.

Whoever pays them the most they will like go to.

You still maintain this?

Form fallen off an absolute cliff.

Certainly doesn't deserve that big wage increase now. It's back to watching the Christensen from before Tuchel arrived. He doesn't look like he wants to be here anymore.

Rudiger is in the same position, but he at least looks like he is still trying.
