March 9, 20224 yr No doubts about it. Huge blow. He has come on leaps and bounds and is one of the best technical CB around, which is becoming more and more of a requirement for modern day CB. Reading of the game brilliant as well and a good age. Huge blow, especially considering it seemed few months ago, that it looked like he was signing. Style of play at Barca and the general league will suit him more tbh. Gutted.

By the sounds if things we agreed with him and his dad in November for 150k a week gross, which gets him basically 75k after tax. He went back on this agreement and sacked his dad, hired a new company to find him a better deal and told us in December he would be leaving. Barca have offered him around 232k gross, a net of 116k plus a signing on fee that is meant to be pretty good. Only thing club could have done is negotiated with him and Toni 18 months earlier, but then Lamps was here and they were not being used and on the way out, which most fans wanted them to be.

It is funny how switching to back 3 turn fans opinion. I remember how disatrous our defense looked with chris + rudi partnership.
March 9, 20224 yr Prepare for him to look a world beater in Spain. had a brilliant 6 months for us last year but other than that he has been patchy at best for us. would I keep him? Yes, but I’d have also been looking at moving him on before the end of last season form so in my opinion this contract situation was sort of unavoidable

He took a blow in that Barca game and was not the same for a while afterwards - other than that his skills and potential to become world class has always been obvious for anyone with half a football brain. Now he is and I don’t think we can replace him. Hard to name more than a couple of defenders with the same technique, awareness and football intelligence, the last two years he has improved a lot physically and mentally and he can play both right back and DM should the need arise. His only weakness is injuries. Huge blow, but hey, nothing official from Barca yet.
March 18, 20224 yr He is playing brilliantly atm and - Barca move or no Barca move - we really have to hope for him to recover until the CL QFs as things stand. Still have that whiff of hope that a new owner could sweep him off his feet in the last moment
March 18, 20224 yr I wonder how many matches he wasn't able to finish in his Chelsea career, the guy is ridiculously fragile.
March 29, 20224 yr Barcelona to sign Chelsea's Andreas Christensen Barcelona have agreed deals to sign Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen and AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie on free transfers when their contracts expire in June, says Guillem Balague. The Spanish club are also in talks with Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta over a free transfer this summer. Club president Joan Laporta confirmed Barca had signed two players, but would not name them. "We've completed two signings for the next season," he said. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60916864
March 29, 20224 yr Just now, andy said: How can we sell players when we are not even allowed to sell a bobble hat ? He's not being sold, he's being signed on a pre contract.
March 29, 20224 yr Best of luck to him whatever happens, such a shame he's probably gonna end up *there* but that's his choice. I never thought we were going to see that kind of performances from him as it was the case in the past year or so.

Yes he has been very fragile at times and strangely this season seems to have overcome that and been playing some of his best football. Shame he goes without us getting a decent fee.
March 30, 20224 yr Not really too bothered if he goes it’s just a bit rubbish we won’t get any money for him
March 30, 20224 yr I'm really gutted about this! Still praying that a new owner could persuade him, but seems like it's too far along.

In the summer and then in Autumn he agreed two different deals with the club only to turn around, decide not to sign and changed agent to get him a move.

Talk about lucky Most sources agree Dave has already extended his contract due to a clause built in to his current deal based on his appearances this season. However like with Giroud the club will allow him to leave if he wants and grant him a free transfer to Barca, again of he decides to do so.
March 30, 20224 yr If AC has now signed for Barca I would rather we limit his play time. Use him as Silvas back up and have Trev as Dave's now Reece and CHO are back. Dave (Trev) Silva (AC) Rudiger (Sarr) James (CHO) Saul (Alonso)

We’re still in the hunt for two trophies.

He is a very good player that we should play if fit. The minute he puts Barca shirt on you can start hating him but not a minute before.
