Ever consider the fact that we do not have as much money as them?

How so? We have one of the richest owners in the world.

Huge week for Chelsea. New signings? New plan to contain Spurs? I know it is wayyy too early to assess how our season will pan out but we need the media off our backs and Chelsea up the table.

Plenty of media all to happy to stick the knife in after one match, including the BBC, who's standards have slipped to tabloid status in my eyes. Its all a bit of a farce really.

I cant accept that the board are too stupid to not see that we need reinforcements, things must be happening in the background that we don't know about.

I also think many clubs are reluctant to sell players, we are struggling to recruit. Everyone has money these days, and a half decent player costs a fortune.

We've got a couple of weeks to get a couple of players in, if we don't I fear a disaster come Christmas.

i agree if we don't get anyone in, then the board need to answer for it because it would be illogical. however, i am very confident we will get in some people and decent players too. we may have to overpay a little to get a player or two, but it is what it is.

i wouldn't take notice of what the media say. i think they are absolutely dreadful in this country and i wouldn't be surprised if they're part of driving people out of clubs. they are constantly hounding the situation and push, push, push on matters and they are just as melodramatic and fickle as some fans. according to sky sports and bbc, utd are champions elect one game in.

But will be too little, too late.
That should be done long time ago. Not putting unnecessary stress on the manager and on the players. It`s shows. Just like with Jose.

When you have unhappy manager, that would probably already think where hes next destination will be, then you have a big, big problem.

This is no Fifa, the new players will need a time to adapt and get use to.

But the blow is already done. We lose a match, we should never lose.
Chelsea last year was the best team by mile against "smaller" team. We lose the smallest amount point against them.

Now we are starting with a lose against Burnely.

It`s all reflect on board work and Conte and board disagreement.

It`s insane sh** how many times he was saying to them, bring me more players, how many times, he was saying "This should not be a reapat of Mou year". This will be our hardest season. We need more then just 1 or 2 new players.
It was all message to them.

Have you seen our fixture list? We needed players two weeks ago, now it's already way to late.
We have a very hard schedule until october from now and we have one functioning midfielder available. Bakayoko is still injured and are nowhere near matchfitness.

Our title-hopes could be over inside a month and a half.

hard schedule yes, but almost every game will be tough. we are the champions and people want to beat us. it's not a fact we will struggle for definite, just opinion/s.

Where was the D&g sharp suited Conte yesterday, looked like a Sunday morning manager, you're better than this AC, shape up fella...

He's probably obligated to wear the training kit etc for a certain number of games per season. Just probably fufuling his obligation early on so he can get back in his smart stuff.

Hope Conte could get his 100M to spend on the players he wanted, so he could focus on football matter. He wasn't his usual self last Saturday, from team selection to the unusually low energy on the sideline. Cahill lost the game for us, but we struggled even before the sent off with Morata wasted on the bench and somehow Boga started.

What the f**k is wrong with the board? For crying out loud they should be bringing one player a day this week and still nothing, with 5 days to go until we fight a long lost battle against spurs.

Do they realize we don't have enough players not only to fill the bench, but to put on the pitch? We're gonna be playing Luiz as a cm,when Matic was available and an easy solution. But no,they had to sell him to utd without bringing in a fit-to-play backup.

Where's moses' competition, where's alonso's backup -baba rahman is sitting there w/o a squad number and is totally available.

This board has f**ked up big time not once, not even twice, but thrice after a league winning season.

At one point do we kick their asses out, finally put our trust in our manager and let him do his magic?

Managers like Carlo,Jose and Conte are serious professionals, yet the club has repeatedly treated them like trash.

Roman has to get a grip and decide if he wants to own an ambitious title challenging club,or arsenal.

Because we need to know in order to not have too high expectations and end up frustrated and disappointed.Otherwise we could as well be Blackburn fans, knowing we'll be losing week in week out so it doesn't bother us,and an occasional tie is a bonus.

The Club stated we had to sell before we bought in new players. The first bit has happened Ivanovic, Mikel, Oscar, Terry, Ake, Matic, Begovic, Solanke, Chalobah, Bamford, Caudrado. If I've missed one then please add. The press make me laugh they say it's Conte's own doing then say the squad isn't big enough! They are just fuelling the fire.

Costa when from villian to hero the moment it looked like he was against Chelsea lol please stop feeding these incompetent Chelsea bias media. This is true same mail who wanted to lych Costa several times over the years

No secret he was a player fave in the dressing room, still I don't think any party has behaved all that well.  Regardless, if that is true above, the player are already looking for excuses.

Themselves, Antonio and the rest of the coaching staff are pros.  Heads down, work hard, come up with a plan and beat this mob.  Conte has plenty of tricks up his sleeve.

IF true, i am with the board on this. Although again, i feel it's the media pulling it from their ass.

Senior Chelsea sources have told The Times that while Conte is concerned only with assembling a squad capable of competing in the Premier League and Champions League this season, the board have a responsibility to plan for the medium and long term.

Chelsea have shown a willingness to back Conte in the transfer market this summer by spending a combined £124 million on Álvaro Morata (£60 million from Real Madrid), Antonio Rüdiger (£29 million from Roma) and Tiémoué Bakayoko (£35 million from Monaco), and it is significant that none of the three is over 24.

In contrast, many of Conte’s remaining targets — Swansea City’s Fernando Llorente (age 32) and the Inter Milan pair, Antonio Candreva (30) and Ivan Perisic (28) — are nearer to the end of their careers and would therefore have little or no resale value. Chelsea have also signed Willy Caballero, the 35-year-old from Manchester City, as reserve goalkeeper, but he arrived on a free transfer.

Chelsea’s preferred transfer policy is to target young players whose market value will either remain stable or increase — the £41 million profit made from selling Oscar, who joined as a 20-year-old, to Shanghai SIPG in January being a prime example — but Conte has little interest in long-term planning.

This clear difference in priorities is understood to be one of the reasons why Conte signed a two-year contract this summer rather than the four-year deal that he was initially offered, with both parties seemingly accepting that the manager’s stay at the club will be relatively short.

Chelsea have also been disappointed with the time and opportunities that Conte has given to the club’s home- grown players, despite being told that youth development was a significant part of the job during his initial contract talks 18 months ago.

There was little game-time for Chelsea’s academy players last season and this summer Conte has sanctioned the sales of Nathan Aké, to Bournemouth, and Nathaniel Chalobah, to Watford, as well as loan moves for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tammy Abraham, Kurt Zouma, Izzy Brown and Kasey Palmer, who all started for other clubs on Saturday when a depleted Chelsea were beaten by Burnley.

Why employ a short term thinking manager if you have long term thinking goals?

Suppose that's the issue. Mourinho and Conte are results managers.

The board wants to be Arsenal. Ok. Nothing wrong with that, just say it so we can stop hoping for trophies

Btw bs from media so clear. Alvaro is above 24 lol

No, I mean they think like short term managers. Pochettino isn't a short term thinking manager, look at Spurs' side and their youth policy. Klopp isn't a short term thinking manager, either. Neither is Wenger.

Conte and Mourinho think like short term managers because they prefer to buy rather than integrate because they want to win as fast as possible. Not saying the others don't but they're more happy to spend less and integrate more.

One of Antonio's mentors is Carlo, AC knows full well the pointlessness of long-term planning as a Chelsea manager. He'll get the chop long before any such plans could come to fruition.

He's employed to win football matches, end of. There's a reason the board prefer to use the 'first team head coach' term and not 'manager', structurally Conte is the most expendable cog of the club's football operation.

Precisely which is why the club need to reign it in when it comes to wanting more youth because with that comes less chance of winning the league. If they want Conte to play youth players a lot then they have to sacrifice results at times, that's just the nature of the game nowadays.

i'm fine with experienced, top quality players but the players linked above are average. i would rather us be a long term goal club anyway, football is a marathon, not a sprint. i would like us to build a young team. look at juventus for e.g. they're an aging side and it's starting to show. dybala is their standout player and he is 21/22 y/o. there are experienced players who are not very good, and there are young players who are very good. who would you rather?
