Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager

Where exactly you see Conte saying that by himself? There is no manager in the world that would want Zapacostta and Emerson infront of Walker and Mendy.
Conte said he wanted both Walker and Mendy.

Let me quote him:

"Honestly I think my focus is only on the pitch and then there is the club. The club is working very hard to try to change our team and our squad and then we'll see what happens at the end of the transfer market."

“No, but... I like to [only] talk about a situation that could be real. You understand?" Conte said to reporters at Cobham Training Ground. “Now, this is not important to talk about Sanchez. Not important. Because he's not our problem, so why do I have to waste words on nothing.”

“I think that we must prefer the quality and not the quantity. In this case, if we reduce the problem only for money, this is not good for the football. If the reason is only because I pay you, you have to play a lot of games, this is the only reason, then this is not right. You are diluting the quality. This is not right.

But Conte says he is only focused on coaching the team and is not party to the transfer planning done by the club’s recruitment team.

‘But as you know very well I stay here to work. I’m a coach. For the transfer market there is the club and you have to ask the club.’

‘I have to respect every decision of the club. This must be very clear.’

Conte said on Wednesday: “The club decide our transfer market. From the summer, the club decides every single player.”

“I’m repeating always the same thing. I’m the coach. My task is to try to do the best for this club, to try to improve my players for this club.”

"In this aspect I can improve a lot. I have to learn a lot from the other coaches, the other managers, in that aspect. I have to speak more with the managers who are very, very good to persuade their clubs to spend money and buy top players."

The last video interview say it`s all.

End ot topic.

Whoever said after this that this and that player are Conte choices is mad.

Chelsbear, so Bayern is the best by 100x margin in the Bundesliga, yet they lose to Eintracht Frankfurt the german Cup.
Football not working that way.

So you got any decent proof Conte went into the board room and said he wanted Walker and Mendy? At least the speculation with Sandro is believable because we was linked with him for a long time.

I don’t have the quote handy but Conte did say that he wanted Walker, 100% sure of that.  Not sure about Mendy.

I have seen the quote plenty of times from the main man himself, doesn't really have much concrete in it apart from we bid for Walker but he was too expensive, does it say when we bid for Walker? How much was the bid for Walker? Was the bid just a late bid because City was doing the deal? It's not so black and white like someone seems to think. Tbh after the last season Conte is the last person I would trust with anything regarding the club, he has been an embarrassment with his constant moaning but also making sure his reputation stays clean and at a very high level, in that respect he has done a great job.

To be fair, he stated that he wanted Walker before things turned bad this season.  It wasn’t anything to do with bid details, but something more along the lines of, “We tried to get Walker, but the price became too high.”

I doubt anyone will ever know what kind of bid was made and when it was made, but based upon when Conte talked about it, I’m inclined to agree with him.

Not necessarily disagreeing with your points, but  he did definitely say they wanted Walker.  Again, I don’t recall that being said about Mendy.

Personally find this season the most distressing of all the abramovitch years. Conte is a good manager, tactically innovative and can bring out the best in players. This season was a much bigger setback to the medium term prospects than the last Mourinho season

The transfers this season were very unsuccessful. Whether that is all the players or partly lack of trust from conte It’s hard to say.

Only Rudigier has been a success in my view, and maybe Palmeri and Giroud at the end

Any my manager would have struggled this season with Morata lack of consistent form. The stats told the story before the season started. Only Hazard is a regular goal scorer. Pedro was once but is past it.

The midfield have a hopeless goal scoring record. Fab, bakyoko, Kante, lucky to get 4goals a season between them. Willian doesn’t score many and neither does Moses. Headed goals from the defenders have fallen off.

Rebuilding this team starts with getting a more dominant central midfield and a younger striker than Giroud actually up to the job.

Chritenson hasn’t actually proved he can replace Cahill let a;one some Chelsea’s great central defenders at their best.

Conte could have done more this seasons do he’s at fault for that but I’d keep him.  He was handed a team in decline. Drinkwater/Barkley not even available.

So Conte to leave after he agrees compensation upon his return from Italy mid week. Then an official club announcement.

Willians cover up job is a bit juvenile, he’s in the over 30 category along with Pedro so will imagine he’ll go to join Matic & Mour.

Tibo & Hazard next as they basically have echoed Contes gripes, plus they would raise enough money to bring some more 20-35 mill pound mediocre players in and out a few quid in the coffers towards FFP compliance  (can’t belive I typed that, but that’s hyper inflation  from all the Telly money).

The FA cup win has but a smile back on my face. I’d have Conte for his final year but not on the cards. Whomever the new manager is, he will seriously need reinforcements of the 50-70 mill type if we are to compete for top 4. dippers got Salah & are getting Keita in. city & united will invest heavily. Leaves Tottenham Arse & CFC left fighting for 4th place. Does the board want to stick or twist ?

I don't think we are too far off challenging again, with the right approach and around 3 key signings.

Really does seem inevitable that Conte is off now, I am sick of players getting on like this, modern day divas with too much money and ego.

Can you imagine a player doing that under Fergie?

Can you imagine Fergie complaining about not being properly backed after his club spent £200m for him? Can you imagine Fergie insulting players and saying none of them are good enough every press conference for a whole season?

Well he doesn't actually say he wanted Walker. Saying you tried to sign a player can actually mean anything from a club enquired but the player turned the club down to Chelsea wouldn't pay the fee. For someone to just presume Walker was top of the shortlist and the club f**ked it up keeps pissing me off, specially when no one knows the facts. For all we know Walker could have been a club recommendation.

Fair point, it could have been a club target.

Sack him or give him a new deal, either way has its merits, last thing we want to do is drag this on and watch our transfer targets get picked off before the World Cup kicks off. As I see it, if the club hierarchy makes a public statement about him staying next year without given him a new deal, it's as good as saying he will be sacked soon, they have to cut to a deal to quash the uncertainty leading up to the next season. We heard what Hazard says, he's off if we don't invest, losing him is worse than a change of manager.

So you believe every word Conte says do you?

So do you believe and accept Conte's words about how Emenalo was great for the club and is a huge miss?

No idea why people think we would get walker.

Man city wanted him, they have more money than us. We wouldn't be able to compete.

Again and for last time. We missed Walker, cause Marina was too slow and was trying to lower the prize.

City was never for Walker, they was going for Dany Alvez. But he reject them, and in 3 days time they finalize the Walker transfer.

Same shi** happen with Lukaku, as United was never in for him, they was after Morata.

We was too slow, Marina was doing s**** all over again and they stole it from us.

Of course we will lose target, when we always act and react slow. We are letting our job to be finish in the end of the transfer market. We always work late and late there isn`t much of a choice, cause good players that are available are selling fast.

You have to be fast and swift.

The last 2 games of the season summed up Conte in a nutshell, lost 5 points due to some sh*t management and that would have made us been on the same points as Liverpool and 2 behind Spurs,

Still wouldn't have got us top 4 though.

You do realise City was after Alves and Walker, Pep wanted both fullbacks which was backed up with the deal for Danilo after Alves turned City down. Obviously the deal for Walker would take longer because you are dealing with a club rather than just the player himself, a club in Spurs who are very difficult to deal with.

Have you any proof Marina was slow?, any proof Chelsea was the first club with a bid?

The point was more about there isn't much difference in quality between the squads but the last 2 games summed up Conte's management for the majority of 2018.

Surely if Antonio was to be sacked they would have done it by now. CFC are not know to hang around once the season has ended. I hear that maybe they waiting on a replacement but CFC would have already sorted it in the background. Also surely Antonio would be talking to the board about players he wants in. If he is still manager by the end of the week, then i think he is safe.

You would think they would have acted pretty much by now and like you said would have had a replacement in.

Still many reports suggest his time is up. We will just have to wait and see

Yes I absolutely can. I think Fergie pulled a lot of strings in the club and he was a type of despot just like Conte can be. These types won't lie as it shows on the table.

Conte haven't insulted anyone. Where do you get that? If he says there is not enough quality there is not enough quality. I think Bakayoko would admit he got his chances but didn't deliver. Morata couldn't score and that really cost us this term.

The club really dropped the ball in the summer. 200m is nothing if you don't get the right players. Not sure if Pogba really was a great buy. Pep instead got everything right. All their buys seemed to work.

Levy does not like selling to us end off

if conte leaves where will he go? if he leaves who are chelsea going to get? and will they hit the ground running as they will need to? conte has 2 seasons prem experience now and surely the smartest thing chelsea could do is sit down with him and thrash it out and see what it will take to keep him. he won the prem first season and the FA cup after a not so good second season. He seems to of pissed a few people off but surely a happier conte will deliver again ?

I agree,

i might be in the minority, but conte is a very good manager and the board need to sit down with him and plan this summer properly, and come to some sort of compromise with transfer targets.

he has delivered 2 trophies in 2 seasons that is far from being poor.
