Antonio Conte - Now Officially Manager

Featured Replies

Reading back through this thread (and others) there are some extremely weird opinions being expressed.  There are several posters who appear to seriously believe that Conte deliberately sabotaged several matches this season as a "f**k you" to the board because he didn't get bought player X or player Y that he MOST DEFINITELY wanted,  and we all know that because it was in the Daily Star, and then repeated on Twitter.

Do we honestly believe that Conte spent the week leading up to the Newcastle match in training telling the entire team and substitutes "Vai là fuori e gioca come un cazzo, ci sono bravi ragazzi"*

I think we really should get a grip  amongst us sometimes.  I can't defend some of Conte's behaviour or his tactical selections/changes this season, but come on, to deliberately force a team of international footballers to play so badly, just to make a point?   Once again, I do despair of the gullibility of some people, sometimes.

There really are....

There some very extreme and regularly fluctuating emotions by some, which leads to an almost a blinkered and irrational viewpoint. I am sure some of these extreme opinions would not be expressed in the "real world" outside of the confines of an internet forum.

We all want Chelsea to do well, win and if possible, play a bit of good football. I get that. But when that is not happening, the shift in opinions on here is phenomenal.

Conte seemed to have a stinker of a season, and at times, I am of the opinion that he wanted to be anywhere else but at Chelsea. But to suggest he sabotaged games is a step too far. As if the players would put up with any instructions not to try and win.

And another thing....DO NOT BELIEVE THE MEDIA!  They exist to stir sh*t and sell papers. The British press is mostly click bait these days, even "better" outlets like the times, Telegraph and guardian.

Have to admit when I was younger, pre marriage, kids, houses, mortgages, me and my mates striding down the Fulham Road with our feather-cuts and our tartan-turn-up baggies, looking right flash - Chelsea was uppermost in my life, so defeats (and worst of all relegation) it ruined days, weeks....EVERYTHING!

That said, defeats against S*urs are still very hard to take!

I think I saw you there @Nibs

I may have been guilty of making some of the noises you are alluding to, although I don't believe I ever went as far as suggesting he set out to lose games.

That doesn't mean to say I don't think he, on occasion, let his desire to prove his point to the board effect his decisions when it came to team selections & substitutions. I thunk that clearly happened.

I would also question how much he really cared this season. I think we saw what a Conte who really cared looked like in his first season. It's why we all loved him. We saw that Conte at the FA Cup final- he clearly wanted to win that trophy. That version of Conte went missing for a very large chunk of the season. Take a look at his body language around the time of our drubbing from Watford. He genuinely looked like he didn't give a toss.

So, no, I don't think he sent his team out to deliberately lose. I do think he, at times,  prioritised making his point to the board over winning though, and I do think he effectively downed tools when the chips were down.

How do you measure care? What did he need to show to make you feel he cares? Jump up and down on touchline. I think he stopped it because he faced criticism over it.

I think he's been professional. I just think he's shown frustration due to bad results and media has crawled under his skin which is pretty natural given the nature of British media.

I actually want him to stay and be given full support from our board. I know he has been very frustrated this season, but I feel he is a part of Chelsea and if he can upgrade the squad with better players, as well as use our youth talent then I think that'll be enough.

Get rid of Cesc, Willian etc and bring in players with the right mentality and skill set.

Next season will be here and ask you all, who was right again.

How dumb you have to be, to replace Top 3 manager in the world like Conte with Maurizio Sarri ....

So i will ask agan then, who`s fault if Sarri failed bad(and i think that will happen), board failure, because they choice the "manager", ups i mean the coach, or again it will be the coach failure or maybe someone here will still blame Conte...

Mark and remember this post. I will be here next season and will ask this question again and again.

Mate, belt up.

Why anyone would "mark and remember" a sh*t post that barely even makes sense is beyond me.

As I said in my post, we saw what a Conte who cares looked like in his first season.

It's not just about "jumping up and down".

In his first season, he was over to the fans after every game- win or lose.

For the majority of this season, he was the first man down the tunnel.

That's just an example, but his body language was there for all to see...

I was meaning proper cash, not Drinkwater cash

To buy some class 1 free range eggs

I feel we and the board should support him for one more year.

I agree there's been some strange moments but 2 trophies in two years ain' bad at all.

I think a lot of people have short memories or they are not old enough to remember pre 97.

Before you ask I'm a season ticket holder and was there when we were proper sh*t

One more year for Conte.

Conte isn't a top 3 manager in the world. The genuinely top managers aren't stupid enough to demotivate the squad at their disposal.

Absolutely. For that same reason Conte is among the best. Don't let the media fool you.

You really are beyond parody, Mr "' I wouldn't be where I am today!"

If you didn't exist someone would have to invent you as the living embodiment of a " spoilt brat of a football fan", whose world falls to pieces when a few dark clouds appear on the horizon.

i bet you were thumping the table to hammer home the point when you announced to the world your discontentment with winning the odd cup when what you demand is parity with Real, Barca and Bayern.

You appear to be without semblance of self awareness or sense of irony?

Like I said, a glory hunting twit of the first order.

You've actually made ZERO sense in all of the posts you've directed towards me and I'm not sure why I'm still replying you. Put a decent argument together or f**k off in peace. It's that simple. For all I know, you're some 18 year old sitting behind that computer/phone calling me a glory hunting twit. Laughable to say the least. Don't you have A levels to write or something? I mean, since we're cooking up fantasies. Bloody moron.
