August 24, 20169 yr "options" - well buy back Papy in that case. squad depth - again, should we get Papy and Marin back. Experience - really? what experience? He is 24, and is as inconsistent as an 18 year old. Has not improved in any aspect of his game in the last 4 years that i have been watching him. Oscar is a player who defines mediocrity. Not surprised that the people who are trying to defend him, do that with "options", "squad depth", "experience" rather than "performances", "match winner", "quality". There was a time where we had ballack and deco sitting on the bench providing "option" "depth" and "experience". Now we have oscar and pedro. How the mighty have fallen.
August 24, 20169 yr Those players are all a lot better in quality than Papy and Marin. The point wasn't that they are the top 1% of player. You say they add nothing of value, they clearly add value to the squad. Edited August 24, 20169 yr by Stim
August 24, 20169 yr Shame he couldn't trust Chalobah with the second half.A Slavan Bilic type would have
August 24, 20169 yr So do Papy and Marin. So did Cuadrado. Oscar and Pedro's "value" to the squad can be seen by their consistently poor and sh*t performances week in and week out. Replace them Baker and Musonda and wont miss them one bit. Thats their "value" and level.
August 24, 20169 yr Shame he couldn't trust Chalobah with the second half. A Slavan Bilic type would have Bullsh*t. West hams first cup game last season.. 13 Adrián 3 Aaron Cresswell 5 James Tomkins 12 Carl Jenkinson 19 James Collins 14 Pedro Obiang yellow 67' 113' 16 Mark Noble yellow 100' 28 Manuel Lanzini 9 Andy Carroll 63' 10 Mauro Zárate yellow 59' 76' 20 Victor Moses Substitutes 2 Winston Reid 113' 8 Cheikhou Kouyaté 76' 27 Dimitri Payet Wow, all them youngsters..... August 24, 20169 yr I have a feeling you are being deliberately obtuse so I'll leave it here. Oh great, How mature. Starting the abuse. Seems like a trend on here. But dont worry, hope u enjoy watching the crap-fest oscar and pedro send our way every week.
August 24, 20169 yr Oh great, How mature. Starting the abuse. Seems like a trend on here. But dont worry, hope u enjoy watching the crap-fest oscar and pedro send our way every week. I often wonder how people with your expectations would have got on week in week out watching us in the early 90s
August 24, 20169 yr I often wonder how people with your expectations would have got on week in week out watching us in the early 90s Probably end up in Broadmoor.
August 24, 20169 yr I often wonder how people with your expectations would have got on week in week out watching us in the early 90s You would not have asked this question, if you actually "knew" my expectations. I dont expect to have messi and CR on the bench, but I also dont expect to have average no gooders in the team. I would be happy/overjoyed if pedro's role in the squad was given to musonda, oscar's to baker and mikel's to Chalobah. They may not be upgrades on the players AT PRESENT but they have potential to be something special and I am willing to take that risk with our youth players instead of settling for mediocrity. And thats the difference.
August 24, 20169 yr so two youth players start and instead you choose to cry about the one that didn't get on?

Outstanding use of the victim card despite nobody even insulting you! I like how you signed off too, really taking the moral high ground in style

August 24, 20169 yr we're playing a dangerous game here leaving it this late, a panic buy is bound to happen
August 24, 20169 yr so two youth players start and instead you choose to cry about the one that didn't get on? "Happy about RLC and aina starts but so gutted about Chalobah. Different Manager, same excuses. How is Oscar a better defensive substitute than Chalobah? In what world? I mean if u cant trust Nat against bristol rovers at the SB with a goal advantage then what is even the point of having him in the squad? Am I to believe that he will be started against City/united on a fine day? Also, further proof why players like Oscar, pedro, mikel need to be shipped off ASAP. Add nothing of value to the squad and eat into the youth player's couple of minutes of game play." Should probably read the comment. Read the first word and then jump on the bandwagon. I mean people on here love simply re-iterating things despite not even knowing the context. Also my greivances were more with oscar being chosen as a defensive option ahead of NAT, and more about the usage of oscar, pedro, which has snowballed. You would have known this if you had read the comment.
August 24, 20169 yr I've read your posts. 3 games in to his new job and you're whining like a spoilt child because things aren't exactly as you wish them to be. can I suggest you stop stamping your feet? this mixture of exaggerated outrage from you and many of the other kids who have joined this forum lately really is grating. every slight mistake or poor performance is woeful / awful / disgraceful. every player not sold or not bought is an example of incompetence. how can you complain about bandwagons against you when you deal- it seems exclusively- in these sorts of ludicrous absolutes?
August 24, 20169 yr HAHAHHA. so I am being a spoilt kid asking for Oscar, pedro, Mikel to be replaced by Baker, Musonda, Chalobah. WOW. But obviously, since you and others are "older" members of a forum, then your opinion should definitely have more "weight" to them, right? I am dealing in bandwagons? That seems weird and totally nonsensical if someone reads the last page of this thread. Just to make myself clear, its not nothing to do with performance, mistake blah blah. Its simply about priorities and wants. If you go the "ideal 25 man squad" thread (IIRC), you can see my preferences and how youth heavy squad it is. Its my opinion and desire. Dont think its being a spoilt child wanting youth integration given that we have won 4 of the last 6 fa youth cup and a couple uefa youth leagues and have some gems in the academy/loan circuit, but continue to play bang average and mediocre players. But surely, what do i know since i joined the forum recently.
August 24, 20169 yr It was an EFL, (English Friendly League), game against Bristol Rovers. 18th in league 1. Two youngsters started, no more or less. Much the same as the token youth appearances sanctioned under the Jose regime. Don't expect either to be starting again anytime soon in a meaningful match. Nothing to see here, move along please.
August 24, 20169 yr my observation is that you (and others) deal in ridiculous absolutes and never pass up the chance to attack everyone and everything that you deem to be in the way of getting exactly what you want. no matter how realistic that is or not. there isn't any hint of practicality or appreciation of views that differ from your own. there's no empathy or understanding in anything you write. that is why you lack credibility. 99% of us want youth integration, the adults can get that across in a way you seem unable or unwilling to.
August 24, 20169 yr So its not realistic to expect massive changes in the way the club is being run after coming in 10th in the league? With no CL/EL, basically the expectations limited to top4/6 (european spot) for the next season, its unrealistic and impractical to expect that while we keep the core and marquee players, we do our best to improve the roots and the basics of the club? Did not Bayern go 2/3 years with bundesliga only to come back stronger than ever with world class players like muller, alaba, kroos. I might come on strong but as a long time chelsea supporter, i am tired of watching us make the same mistakes. Also a lot of radical changes might sound impractical, but they do come across to be.
August 24, 20169 yr Have you considered we may be having a few leaner years as there's a new stadium to be built ?
