August 27, 20169 yr Conte has reiterated that Chelsea are still willing to spend the big money but that the issue is rival clubs' reluctancy to do business. "We didn't refuse to spend the money for the right targets," Conte insisted. "The situation is that the target is not available to buy and to spend the money on. "Then I also told [them] that I'd prefer to spend a lot of money on the right great player, not on a medium player." I like the last sentence. Probably said it straight to Emenalo.
August 28, 20169 yr I like the last sentence. Probably said it straight to Emenalo. We all have different perspectives.
August 28, 20169 yr I like the last sentence. Probably said it straight to Emenalo. Why even bring Emenalo into this? I just do not understand where all the Emenalo/Board bashing comes from. This just shows that several people do not require any evidence to jump to conclusions. A pinned post on @chelstransfergossip was similar. Some statement made by Conte was apparently a "slap in the face of the board". I still do not understand how that was inferred. Could he not have said it simply because that is what he wants (irrespective of who was on the other side)?

Could he not have said it simply because that is what he wants (irrespective of who was on the other side)? people seems to think that scouting and getting players is easy. i do agree that the board didn't do their job last year, but the year before that (plus our january 2014 window) they did out-out-outstanding. got matic relatively cheap, and in the summer got the best centre forward in la liga and one of the better midfield players the last 10 years, as well as selling players for far more than they were worth. these have all proven to be complete game changers. hell, even this year they've gone and bought the best midfield player in the league last year (who's looking like a huge success already) and they were on the ball with the scouting of batshuyai's talents (who's looking like an exciting player). we haven't gotten a cb, but that's because napoli are looking for stupid money for a player who's looking more like mangala than terry, let's just put it like that..
August 28, 20169 yr I get what Conte is saying but how does it only seem to be us that have encountered this problem? United have got everyone they wanted. City got everyone they wanted. Arsenal look to have as well when they've finally paid the money required. Why is it that no one will sell to us no matter what price we offer? Seriously annoying. (Not a complaint about Conte or the board, just a general observations that it's annoying & weird it seems to only be us)

(Not a complaint about Conte or the board, just a general observations that it's annoying & weird it seems to only be us) United have payed over the odds to sign there players in both fee and wages so I wouldn't say we are the only one encountering these problems. Pogba at £100m and Bailly who has only one half decent season to his name cost them £30m+. City have spent £180m+ this window and haven't really bought anyone that will improve their first team Arsenal have over payed for average players £30m+ on Xhaka, and then they are potentially signing a striker no one in England has ever heard of and a defender from one of the worst defences I had the pleasure of watching last season so a typical Arsenal window, although I think the signing of Holding could be a bargain. Benteke cost Palace as much as Liverpool signed him for and that was with Liverpool trying to flog him, Bolasie for £25m and a host of other average players moving for ridiculous fees. I would say it has effected the whole premier league the only top quality player that has been bought this season is Pogba and that was a world record fee every other signing has been for an average player at over inflated prices. That's not really true though. Zlatan, Bailey and Henrik for United are far from average. Sane is one of the best young players in Europe while Gundogan is a class act. Heck even for us Kante is a fantastic signing for the EPL even though he was here last season. There has been plenty of top quality transfers so far even if the prices have been heavily inflated from previous years.

August 28, 20169 yr Transfer wise it seems we are going for quality which is obviously harder to get, my only gripe is with the club not switching targets sooner, kouliababy was off the agenda as soon as higuain was sold so as soon as that as apparent we should of dropped our interest and been going onto another target instead of wasting time, the koulababy transfer saga seems very stones 2015 to me, as in a waste of time as we wont get him due to selling clubs stance, we missed a trick not getting alderweireld last season when he was available.

Heck even for us Kante is a fantastic signing for the EPL even though he was here last season. There has been plenty of top quality transfers so far even if the prices have been heavily inflated from previous years. Maybe my definition of top quality was a bit harsh and yes there has been some good business and transfers occurring in the window but there has also been a lot of very overpriced signings as well and defensive signing seem to have been the hardest for clubs with the most over inflated prices of the lot (Stones £50m Jones quoted at £20m+ Evans £25m+) the issue clearly isn't just effecting us. Yes United and City have both bought potentially very good CB in this window (although I don't think Stones will every get to become a very good CB) but both of these defenders are by no means first class yet and both clubs have been metaphorically bent over when it comes to the fee they had to pay. Bailly as stated above has had one half decent season where he wasn't exactly pulling up trees in La liga and went for £35m Stones was so bad last season he was dropped from the Everton team and went for £50m. And I do agree with you both Manchester clubs have signed some very good players, Zlatan and Henrik (although time will tell if Henrik is suited to the premier league) are both very good players are both good acquisitions for United who have probably strengthened their first XI the most out of any of the big clubs. I think City whilst acquiring some very good talent for the future and increasing their squad depth haven't really improved there first XI for this season. We as a club have an abundance of future prospects and needed a ready made CB and LB that would improve our first XI and the only transfer so far in this BPL window that has fit that bill is Ashley Williams. August 29, 20169 yr We cannot buy players only because of our manager like City, United and Liverpool do. Everybody wants to play for Mou, Pep and Klopp but for Conte.. not at all. He went for Juventus, Roma, Napoli, Milan players... but fail after fail. Nobody wants to play for Antonio from his country despite his total domination. It's a shame because he is a good manager but not that attractive as he should be. Even Simeone would do better job only with his name.
August 29, 20169 yr I think this is ridiculous. It has been a case of clubs not wanting to sell there players, rather than players npt wanting to play under conte. 5 minutes ago, Pendergast said: We cannot buy players only because of our manager like City, United and Liverpool do. August 29, 20169 yr It's true, fellas. Mou and Pep have 2 or even 3 guaranteed transfers every window because they are the most famous managers in the world. This is fact, nothing against Conte.

The amount of negativity and shortsightedness is amazing. To question that Don Conte isn't a manager players want to work with is wrong. This post ignores that it is clubs rejecting our bids for their players and not players rejecting a move to Chelsea. So if anyone is "failing" it is the board for being unable to negotiate a fee with other clubs... But then if a club does not want to sell you cannot force them.
August 29, 20169 yr Nope, players would do something if they really wanted to join us. You have seen many footballers doing this for a manager they want to work with. Now, because he is our current manager, that's why you are attacking me, but you know that I'm telling you a FACT. Conte is less attractive than Mou, Pep, Klopp and Diego Simeone. Jose managed to lure big players like Papy and Hector We are acting like Arsenal since the final in Munich. Jose did well in his first two seasons, but unfortunatelly last season he was betrayed by players and the board. He knew about players and what was coming but couldn't do anything. Shame on Abramovich and his Yes men.

We were 10th and without CL. I think that is a bigger factor. Conte is a big name among managers.
