True but in his defence he doesn't bitch and moan about it. Clearly the £80k a week to do nothing is OK for him

I think some of the comments here are overly negative about lukaku even when they are correct. No striker is perfect. Aguero doesn't do any defending I've noticed. Playing well against deep defences is difficult but certainly depends on the midfield and wing backs creating opportunities. Every striker has weaknesses.

Also I don't think Costas first touch is all that brilliant but he is still an effective striker.

My biggest reservation over lukaku is whether he is a "team" player.

According to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, the Gunners will make an offer for Romelu Lukaku.

I think his performances in the Euros would have put alot of clubs off.

He just can not link up with players of this quality. Everytime Hazard or De Bruyne sell a dummy to the opposition, Lukaku buys it as well.

 

The guy is clearly a couple of levels below the likes of Hazard and De Bruyne.

Never seen a 'top level' striker be so stationary. Every time Belgium had the ball he just seemed to stand next to a CB, no movement dragging opponents out of position or runs in behind or anything. Awful. Then had the nerve to have a go at the midfielders for not passing to him. Glad we got rid.

Has to do something with his big frame and weight. He is very heavy and if you look at him he sweats the most. He needs to be so much smarter with his runs and play in general.

He doesn't know how to use that frame which for me is most alarming. His timing in headers is awful. He'd win every header if he had the timing right. Remember how Drogs used to torment opponents with his big frame and preparation for headers. He was almost unbeatable.

Antonio Conte's Chelsea are starting to get active on the transfer market. Today, the blues submitted their first offer for Romelu Lukaku to Everton : 60 million euros. After completing deals for Batshuayi and Kante, Lukaku is another hot name for Chelsea at the moment. If a deal does happen with Everton for the Belgian striker, then Diego Costa's situation might evolve. At the back, Chelsea are still strongly targeting one between Koulibaly and Manolas of Napoli and Roma respectively.

30m for a reserve in bats??cant see it, i know its good to have a strong squad, just cant be bothered seeing great players being wasted on the bench

This is the one time I hope Everton dig their heels in and don't allow him to leave. I personally think we should be looking at Ross Barkley more than anyone from Everton.

If we are trying to buy him to replace Costa then this is not a good thing.

 

If it was to replace Remy then I would say it is a good thing.

 

No disrespect to Remy, I do actually think he is decent enough, but all things considered I think our squad would be better off and more 'rounded' with Lukaku over and above Remy.

 

Going into the season with Costa, Lukaku, Batshuayi & Traore would really provide a solid strike force and I would be happy with that.

 

I can't see it happening though, not unless we want our pants well & truly pulled down over the price.

 

If the (reported) opening bid is 60 million Euros, I dread to think what we would actually end up paying.

Definitely, I have to admit if Costa is willing to leave that badly then fair enough but I still don't think Lukaku is ever going to be a true top top level striker.

Yep. If we end up with either Morata or Rom  Costa is definitely gone.
